Rebel Moon is an American 2023 epic space opera film directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten, based on a story Snyder conceived. Rebel Moon is inspired by the works of Akira Kurosawa, the Star Wars films and Heavy Metal magazines; its logo is a homage to the latter. The project began development as a Star Wars film that Snyder had pitched to Lucasfilm, shortly after the sale of Lucasfilm to The Walt Disney Company in 2012. This pitch was to be a more mature take on the Star Wars universe.

Distributed by Netflix, Rebel Moon is a two-part film and of which Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire has been released while the other half will come out April 2024. Snyder aims for Rebel Moon to be a massive IP and a universe that can be built out. It is intended for there to be a "trilogy of sequels" to be released, although that may not occur if the project fails overall. A lot of money has been invested into the merchandise of the film and it currently has generally unfavorable critic reviews on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. A game for the movie is apparently in development. It is unknown if the general audience will be able to save the project or not as of this time.

This is the premise of the movie:
In a universe controlled by the corrupt government of the Motherworld, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the forces of the Imperium, the army of the Motherworld controlled by Regent Balisarius. Kora, a former member of the Imperium who seeks redemption for her past in the leadership of the oppressive government, tasks herself to recruit warriors from across the galaxy to make a stand against the Motherworld's forces before they return to the planet.

I can't even muster up enough enthusiasm to shit on it. Nice hat, Asian lady.

Edit: they hired Mags Visaggio, an infamously untalented troon with a reputation for failure, to bring the rich world of Rebel Moon to comic stores. Glad to see Snyder and company are letting HR manage their delicate new IP.

It looks like knock off Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Which does not bode well cause that movie bombed. Giving Mags Visaggio is just another nail in the coffin. I, however, disagree that strong female protagonist is itself a red flag provided she's reasonably attractive. It's when a movie insist on a 6 as a lead does it become one.

Female protagonist is a serious red flag right off the jump.
>implying Jill Valentine or Lara Croft never existed
lol lmao even
I bet dollars against donuts that the ONE white guy on the good guy team ends up being a poofter. Zach Snyder hasn't made anything even watchable since Watchmen.
Does Legend of Guardians: Owls of Ga'Hool even count? He directed it and it was pretty good. Everything he's made afterwards is hot garbage, and his defenders (usually the ones on the /tv/ boards) are much worse.
