So the writing bug has bitten me, and I'm building a story binder of ideas. Problem is I'm poor and I don't want to pay for a blog and deal with SEO. But if you have a good blogging site with Good CSS support and image and music embedding, I'm all for it. My requirements are as follows:

- No creative commons shit. I want clear licensing. Some shady sites use these as fiction milking fans.
- No websites where the offer shitty 'contests' which basically the terms make you give you your rights.
- Any site that forces you to give up your rights.
- As mentioned previously, uncensored gore, cursing and adult themes.
- Communities should at least be manageably toxic. No YA Fandom dogsht where they fight each other more than they write. Constructive critisicim from members who aren't snobs, teenagers or cunts is preferable where they leave emojii ridden contents.
- No site where removal of work is easy and has notorious political cliques.
- Good interface, easy formatting. Plugins optional.
- Average writing ability should be at leas the 10th grad level, which is above the New York times, which is an 8th grade level

I'll accept fan-fic website on the condition that they have good places for submitting original work. I want to do a lot of short stories, a novella and when I'm ready, see what I can work out into a novel or series of novels. Worst comes to worst, I'll bite the bullet and buy a website. My conditions for that are user friendly, easy GUI and cheap.

Note. this site might actually not exist 100% to what I want, but any options are good.

For forums that entirely exist to post fiction, I cannot recommend this one enough.

Pretty strict requirements.
My mind jumped to fictionpress but that is just for plain text stories.
Spacebattles has an extensive creative writing forum but the average forum goer is not very fun to interact with. Same goes for SB spin offs like sufficient velocity (even more autistic) and questionable questing. That last one (QQ) has fairly loose rules but its mainly used for smut.
Archiveofourown is mainly fanfiction. The fandoms are filled with fujoshi.
I've got no experience with wattpad, but I know people use it for stories.

Unironically, go with AO3.

Yes, it's primarily a fanfiction website but they do allow original works and their rules are fairly lax even with all the Tumblrinas on there.

Graffiti your works on random walls. You could also hold poetry slams on a ham radio channel

I think because of the large teenage userbase, they're cracking down on explicit stories similar to how FFN was purging stories in 2002 and 2012. Marking them as "mature" doesn't protect stories, either. Also, don't bother with Wattpad anyway. They tried to hide from their userbase their site got severely compromised and it took them a couple of months to own up to it, albeit halfheartedly. And it's run by Canucks.

Sadly, AO3 appears to be the best place for posting practically anything you want despite the shitty community, even though I wish real-person fics would just be outright banned. I kinda feel like at some point, the site's gonna have to adhere to some rules to avoid getting sued or cracked down, especially if the teenage userbase overtakes the adult userbase.

I used to use it and it was filled with Trump smut, memes and 9 year olds when the age limit was 13

What's wrong with Spacebattle's community?

Also, try and make a Wordpress blog for free? Many web serials do it and they cost basically nothing but time.

My strict requirements are because I have a great experience with internet writers and nearly all of them are terrible and websites are extremely predator looking to make a buck off you.

Fictionpress, maybe.
Fight for the rights to make a fiction subforum on kiwifarm.
I might do that. But everyone is super cagey and that would just be filled with endless memes about members, lolcows and who knows what else. Its a horrifying idea.

I'll think about doing it. But I have to read through A&H already and that forum would be the stuff of nightmares. Though we could still have serious stories and essays about writing and shit. Null might not want more since he still wants this to be a lolcow forum, not an everything forum. Politics is catty enough, but writers? Oofta.

This is probably what I'm going to do.

When I was 13 I had fever dreams so bad I drew on my walls some horrific occult shit I didn't even remember doing. So that might cause insanity. If I do a ham radio I want to be a creepy asshole, but my room is clogged with enough shit.

Thanks for the responses. I might just do a wordpress blog. If I wanted more light novel-y type of stuff including images and sound. So that might be the way to go. Or if I get lazy, fiction press.

Royalroad is a decent option if you're looking to build an audience more quickly than a wordpress blog and you fall into a niche that the audience there likes (sci-fi, fantasy, litRPG, etc). The only issue is that the rating and trending systems pretty heavily favor long series with frequent updates, so it might be hard to get visibility with short stories or novellas.

Well, I haven't written fiction wise in awhile and I didn't want to be a major asshole and go "IM GONNA DO NOVELIOS HURR". As long as its not too insane. Genre and pulp are generally what I enjoy writing. Drama....ehh. Not interested in non-fiction.

It seems like it would meet most of your requirements then. Visibility is going to be an issue no matter where you publish your work, and at least Royalroad has an established audience of readers in those categories and methods for the good stuff to float to the top (trending, featured reviews, etc). With the wordpress blog route, unless you already have an established audience it seems tough to get people to actually find your work.

There's so many good serials that are missed due to that fact. Web fiction guide was a good way to get the word out but the upper management of that place is shoddy as fuck. Top fiction is also a place to look towards as well.

Yeah, getting people to give a shit is a problem.

I was giving a sarcastic answer. Didn't expect that reply. If you found yourself auto channeling stuff then you might want to work getting closer to god and avoid intoxicants. The other way to avoid creepy stuff from happening is clean your room and get rid of whatever you don't use anymore.

As for ham radio? That's too technical for your danger hairs. So they'll never get into it. If you get the right gear you can create your own internet via radio. Have fun
