What WPT got was a 3-day suspension for hosting thousands of open calls to murder. It was a mild warning shot. Dozens of other subreddits have been saying the exact same things, and the admins took the least possible action by briefly shutting down one.
I doubt the FBI was behind this. Rather, it is all over the Internet that Reddit got completely out of control with the death threats and calls to violence, and the admins couldn't ignore it completely.

Exactly. If anything all that did is show a clear bias by the reddit admins as well. Other subs that aren't even political have done far less and just been nuked without warning.
