It hasn't gotten "nuked". Nearly every subreddit that allowed non-liberal thought got nuked, for trivial or made-up offenses. What WPT got was a 3-day suspension for hosting thousands of open calls to murder. It was a mild warning shot. Dozens of other subreddits have been saying the exact same things, and the admins took the least possible action by briefly shutting down one.

I doubt the FBI was behind this. Rather, it is all over the Internet that Reddit got completely out of control with the death threats and calls to violence, and the admins couldn't ignore it completely.

Exactly. If anything all that did is show a clear bias by the reddit admins as well. Other subs that aren't even political have done far less and just been nuked without warning.

Whitepeopletwitter is one of the biggest offenders for political propaganda. The entire sub is just a mouthpiece for the DNC. The worst is that if you look at this news and try to find reports or discussions about it on Youtube, guess what you'll find: nothing but a bunch of 6-year-old videos about the "best of WPT," reviewing posts that...have absolutely nothing to do with politics. It was just actually twitter posts by white people that were seen as funny.

Just another reminder that used to be a normal sub before the power mods got their hands on it and decided everyone needed yet another sub to scream at them about how orange man is bad.
 
I'm actually very interested to see if post style and traffic on Reddit is going to change with NGO budgets getting hit. It's crazy how inorganic the site feels (it always felt pretty inorganic, but for the last decade or so it's become noticeably worse than the rest of the internet) but I'm at the point where I could believe most redditors are literal NPCs and the only change will be less traffic. Maybe the lower bot karma scoring will change that?
Also, hopefully the DOGE dust-up will have some lasting impact on the place, when you have moderators who are living regulatory risks it might be time for a purge, especially as a publicly traded company.

You're right that the thread has gone to shit over this, but it's only because so has reddit. This is so much more hysteria and clear propaganda than what happened in 2016, so there's no escaping it.

Added on top of it is that this time the tech billionaires are riding the pendulum back towards the right, or at least to the middle, and it's making it more hysterical. It's equally annoying and enjoyable at the same time.

As much as i enjoy seeing the meltys of internet communists. I have to agree. I also miss the none political stuff here.
But because of current events. It will continue to get worse, until Spez gets his head on straight and brings the hammer down on the growing extremist userbase. It is just going to be wall to wall "kill Elon kill Trump Luigi" takes.

I'd say no because xitter is full of NSFW still, but I'd attribute that to incompetence more than valuing free expression.
