Update on Voat.co, more than Reddit.

Voat.co has been overwhelmed by Redditfugees of a certain breed, and their hosting site is shutting them down due to all the 'intelligent' content.

Apparently the website might be used to host child pornography, are still convinced that it's better than the "SJW run reddit." Also they tried to make the admin of step down because he banned a few people... and who will run this site?

This is what voat-people had to say about it on reddit:

I'm gonna bump this thread due to Reddit shutting down
Man.
Reddit is a complete cesspool (I say with a 5 year old account....) so I would understand if it were all defaults that got the axe but look at those couple of niche subs that have been trying to remain drama-free. :(
Why close so many, though? Reddit is a website where I feel like the staff puts a bit too much hard work into trying to keep it running smoothly which is never going to come to fruition because it is too large and as a result it has too many assholes.

I haven't kept up on the drama in a while so my assumptions might be totally off.

No doubt this is going to be the hardcore anti-SJW's hairtrigger to go "SEE? SEEEE??? TOLD U SO"

I've seen a few mods protest how Reddit prioritizes gimmicks (snooavatars, reddit gold) over actual useful tools such as ways for volunteer mods to talk to paid admin.

But I think you're right, this is just the straw that broke the camel's back.

EDIT: from /pol/ (kek)

There's some circumstantial evidence. The whole thread where the Jackson was called a race-baiter was deleted. Many of the commenters in the thread got shadowbanned. There was also a rumor that Jackson threatened a lawsuit. There's also the fact that the firing happened right after the AMA, and that there's been absolutely no comment or reason given.

Goddamn. I don't really care about Reddit all that much but firing the girl that made the AMAs possible, and without any kind of mention to the AMA team or Reddit in general, sounds like a PR nightmare.

Unless she was distributing child porn I can't imagine that Reddit can give any real reason why a sudden dismissal is anything but utterly incompetent for this particular use of Reddit.

I think you're misunderstanding. No one got "the axe", they voluntarily went private temporarily.

Oh, so then AMA was the only one that actually was turned private, and all the other subs are doing the same in protest?

I mean it sounds good on paper but it seems kinda self-righteous. I am also seeing other redditors use the words "we" and "lets" a lot, like they usually do... Maybe I'm just jaded. :heart-empty:

Edit: I see why a lot of defaults went private now. They had close ties to a lot of AMA people and that kinda messed up their workflow a bit.

A lot of these subs were shutdown in protest of the /r/Iama fiasco. Looks like some of the more controversial ones such as /r/fatlogic got the axe as well, most likely for good.

I don't really buy into the whole tinfoil hat theory regarding SJWs taking over Reddit but it is suspicious that SRS and SRD are still online. They've violated the site's rules many more times than the ones that got banned but the mods apparently were willing to overlook those transgressions.

But whatever, I don't care. Let the bitch burn. I'll always remember the good times I had on that site. :semperfidelis:

Honestly, I don't understand people who decided to stick around and keep using reddit after the whole Pao fiasco, where it was shown how much of a crook and scumbag she was (Let's not forget her ponzi scheme husband who owes millions). Now, people are surprised that reddit is letting go more of it's key members who actually worked on the site? Some major subreddits are going on a temporary blackout because the current CEO of reddit is so out of touch with the website that she let go of the woman who managed to get Obama to do an AMA on reddit. Y'all niggas who use reddit deserve this if you thought it was going to be okay after the earlier drama. Welcome to digg.

I don't use Reddit or pay attention to it at all. What was the Pao fiasco?

IAMA also did it in protest. No subreddits have been banned in connection to any of this. All closures were voluntarily and likely temporary.

Long story short, the deceased creator of Reddit created the site with free speech in mind, and has even spoken at a school and mentioned this. Since he's been dead, the new CEO, this SJW named Pao, has been managing reddit. Unfortunately, she has little to no experience with any sort of coding or email skills. She quickly decided to ban several subreddits such as r/fatpeoplehate and a few lulzy ones that shat on SJWs. When people called her out on it, she would shadowban them without notice, and then tried to link several PMs to a main thread to try and make a user look bad. Mind you, it's impossible to link private messages to a main thread. They're private. It got so bad that she was shadowbanning people left and right, and even banned the subreddit r/whalewatching. Which was just about whale watching.

EDIT: Her husband is some Billywitchdoctor.com looking ponzi scheme artist who owes around 2.1 or so million dollars to the people he scammed. When Pao was fired from her previous job before reddit, she sued the company for the EXACT amount her husband owed. The courts quickly caught on and ordered her to pay her previous employer abut 1 million usd in legal fees.
