This "literally traded his daughter for his ideology" post, which I have seen plenty of variations elsewhere about this, seems to indicate a belief that had this father changed (or never had) his beliefs on the topic his daughter would still be alive. The pure force of his holding the correct views on gun issues would have created a protective bubble and saved her. The fact that the father chose otherwise reveals his callous disregard for his daughters safety. How can you feel empathy for a father that purely and diabolically evil?
Also, the only reason you should have any beliefs about anything are purely self-interest.

Furthermore, he's probably just some blue-collar worker doing whatever and falling under the prominent ideology in his town, so who cares what he believes? he's not a pundit or a political scientist, he's a grieving father.
