Consumeproduct.win has houses those types of people and they have polluted that community so much that no one wants to visit. Only a few users were behind the edgy spam yet weren't banned. KiA2 on .win was becoming similar as of a years or two ago.

I just did this experiment again while writing this post. The first post on /r/all for me had 13.7k upvotes and was from /r/LeopardsAteMyFace. The sub has 840k subscribers and the post I saw was the only one with over 10k upvotes. There were three posts with 1-10k upvotes, and the rest were in the hundreds or below. There are also only nine posts on the Hot page that were made in the last 24 hours.

I also checked our /r/wallstreetbets. It has over 12 million subscribers yet at the time of this post has only one post on the default subreddit view with over 10k upvotes, around a dozen with 1-10k upvotes, and lots of hours old posts with only hundreds of upvotes.

You could blame the lack of posts on overzealous mods deleting everything, and maybe that’s the case, but no matter what the reason is, investors won’t be happy if a supposed “social media” site is missing the “social” part.

I would say that votes aren't really that good a way to judge the amount of people present. I'm fairly sure that the displayed amount of upvotes has had a tenuous connection with the amount of people voting ever since they removed the display of downvotes and made zero the lowest a post could go. There's some sort of constant adjustment going on in an attempt to counteract downvote bots and downvote brigades. The goal of the adjustment seems to be to maintain a displayed number they think represents the real ratio of upvotes to downvotes. Their reasoning to arrive at that number isn't something I can guess at, but I'd bet it does less to counteract upvote bots than downvote bots, and probably errs on the side of upvotes.

Meanwhile, the subscriber number of a subreddit doesn't really take into account the people who are subscribed to the sub basically just to have the chance of it appearing on their main page or to be able to find it again if they wish. Such people aren't interested in actually interacting with the subreddit, so unless something gets algorithmically promoted to their main page or to /r/popular or /r/all, at which point the subscribers who don't actually visit the sub can upvote it.

Beyond that I have seen indications of reddit being a bit more populated that it's activity at a glance might indicate. A lot of stuff gets removed by Automod or anti-spam filters. For example from r/amd or r/wallstreetbets or r/anime there are dozens of posts removed per day within seconds.

Then there was the incident with /r/animemes back in 2020. Where the mods banned the word "trap" because it was offensive to troons, didn't bother to consult the users of the subreddit about it ahead of time, and were shocked when the subreddit revolted over it. The sub was spammed for a couple of weeks by protest content, while regular content was downvoted in /new/ and rarely gained any traction. By the time the mods took the sub private for a few weeks it had lost well over 100,000 subscribers and the rival r/goodanimemes that was set up gained hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Once the admins stepped into to put a stop to it and basically finalized the separation of the subs, even after /r/animemes returned it took a week or two for the downvoting to get tapered off. Plus some of the people returning mentioned that they'd unsubscribed just because they were tired of the protest memes appearing on their front page. That's not the sort of activity that reddit would be set up to fake.

So all in all, the number of "upvotes" something gets is more a function of what gets favored by the algorithm and promoted to be seen by subscribers not visiting the sub, and what the algorithm thinks is the "true" ratio of upvotes to downvotes. It doesn't really reflect the number of people interested in interacting with a subreddit on a regular basis.

What even is reddits kill count? There was some crap with the Boston bomber being found so thats one, there is a chance they're responsible for a guy from r/childfree killing his child, there is the volunteers for ukrane campaign and this chick's suicide.

Could have any other platform had this high of a kill count? Reddit has been responsible for so many deaths.

If we're talking about social media generally then I'm sure facebook has resulted in more murders by a long shot. Melanated individuals use the site to plan hits on each other and even post their kills on facebook live. It's pretty fucking gnarly.

I genuinely do not get the hate boner Reddit has for pickup trucks. Are they jealous they can't afford one? Are they scared of seeing a car bigger/taller than theirs? Are they just dumb kids repeating what each other says?

I drive a sedan so I'm not some butthurt truck owner. But by the same token, I drive a sedan and have never had an issue with someone else owning a truck. Just seems like an incredibly pointless thing to get upset about. And I have driven friends/relatives pickup trucks a few times and found them to be unobjectionable at worst and quite nice at best. Yes they are big and tall, but that just doesn't explain why so many people hate them. It gets even weirder when they, without fail, will start talking about truck owner's penises. Literally every single time they start dunking on trucks, they start talking about how big/small they imagine the driver's penis is.

Are they just bots? Coomers projecting their own insecurites? Urbanites who have never driven one? Euros who have never seen a truck IRL? I do not get why someone owning a car different from theirs is a problem for them.
