Have been a lurker on this site for about a year now and decided to finally make an account. I just deleted my ~10 year old reddit account after my latest mod run-in that was so asinine I couldn't take it anymore. Normally I like to fuck with them a bit but I'm just done. Sorry I don't have any entertaining screenshots but it was in the fake disorder cringe sub, and the thread was about a girl claiming to have a rare fainting disorder that doctors don't take seriously because it's "normal for teenage girls" as she said. I replied that it is fairly common, that I had some fainting spells in high school that were mostly because I didn't eat a good breakfast or because we had to watch a graphic video in health class (yes, that stuff makes me faint). And that the good thing was people forgot about me getting wheeled to the nurse because the same thing happened to a boy who started fainting like once a week after.

Mod said this was "trauma dumping" which I had to look up, then realized I'm too old for this middle school bullshit. I can dump so much more shitty things that happened to me than "that time I fainted at school" while literally on the topic of fainting. Fuck.

That’s nice sir… Now please face the wall.

Might be worth following if they continue to go crazy in real time. Probably not. In case you are wondering. This is the guy/girl/shim/whatever

Any armchair psychologists want to explain this?
I think we are looking at two possibilities and in a lot of cases, both of them at a time.
  1. They are missing the feeling of power when they would yell at somebody for not wearing a mask or not being antisocial
  2. They were partially broken before the wuflu, the terror pushed them to the line and at the same time they realized that they could force everyone else to be as lonely and miserable as them.
You already knew that, but I enjoyed saying it anyway.

Moderation gets a big focus because its cancer, of course, but i think Reddit as a whole is like it is by design and is working as intended, its not a bug but a feature. Reddit exists to centralize discussions on topics and generate a fake consensus via astroturf, it doesn't want to be different.
Reddit is built for nerds who are autistically obsessed with things, but who are also too sensitive/intolerant for message boards or true forums.

The fact that the like/dislike feature dictates what is visible guarantees that controversial topics will be buried in any opinion-based sub, be it politics or anime or tranny stuff. Add to that the power that jannies have there and you end up with a bunch of micro communities with ridiculously draconian rules, all full of turbo-nerds desperate for attention who want to use the platform to jerk over their favourite star wars show and don't ever want to see anyone saying that the ending of Obi-Wan Kenobi sucked.

It's ridiculous that 'I don't want to read this so no one else should be able to, either' is a feature, but it appeals to the melvins who got bullied off of proper forums. Some subs will even remove posts if they get too many downvotes.

The one thing reddit is good for, is OC-based content such as DIY or crafting. The upvote system actually works here because the stuff that gets upvoted is usually good quality or informative. However, traditional forums are still far better for actual discussion and advice. Reddit works best as a place where you can post completed projects and lap up praise.

What a nice community of people desperately clinging to something everyone already forgot a year ago.

There's a cultural myth that suicide increases near Christmas/winter, but the more interesting truth is that suicide tends to spike around spring, not winter.

If someone's kind of an unhappy shut in what makes them feel like shit often times isn't not being able to do stuff; it's watching other people doing stuff, but not doing it themselves. It's hearing happy people outside your window while you sit totally alone and the world passes you by.

I would imagine to a lot of these people, Covid was actually a major relief because they already weren't going out to do anything in general because they're neurotic, depressed and/or socially isolated.
It's the same phenomenon that makes more depressed people enjoy it when it's raining out, because everyone is stuck inside but they're stuck inside together, everything slows down, and you have an excuse to push things off.

Add to that the fact that these are the types of lost souls that tend to spend a ton of time on social media and thus cultivate a major sense of FOMO, and to me it's no mystery whatsoever as to why they want to hold on to Covid.

They probably would be happier if they stopped playing pretend and just came to terms with how they felt, but either due to ignorance or ego I think a lot of these types of people can't rectify how they feel with how they think they're supposed to feel, so in order to avoid the conflict they cling to covid because that makes more sense to them.

Others just want an excuse to act elitist or control people.

My redditor friend, did you know that there's an entire thread in the beauty parlor about Munchies and illness fakers?

I think you'd like it, you should go and enlighten them with your trauma and experiences. You can just let loose with all the details, I promise they love that kind of thing.

Here's a big name user of theirs, they're in the middle of pozzing the covid subs that started to turn away from forever masking:

And here's a pozzed comic they use as their manifesto:

Yeah I think r/zerocovidcommunity needs their own thread.
I need a bone marrow transplant after reading that comic.

Someone suggested ger brother watch Hasan as an example of positive and strong role models. The same Hasan who is the definition of an Internet Tough guy who chickened out of a fight with Sam Hyde and banned people from bringing it up

Asked to explain how it's misogynistic and they couldn't explain.
The little brother already watches two dirty muslims talking shit and r*ddit's suggestion is to watch a different dirty muslim talking shit. A+ solution.
Jesus Christ, imagine being a woman with such a fundamental lack of self-respect that you would have this as your fiancé.

I know other people have said it earlier, but the more I see of these zerocovid loons the more I agree they could get their own thread. The longer it goes on the crazier they'll sound, they'll eventually have important figures in the community, it's already pretty cultish and there will undoubtedly be drama.

Don’t forget to include the masks4all subreddit too, which seems to sit at an autistic intersection of COVID lunacy and CONSOOOOOOMING.

I never thought anyone could just namedrop half a dozen of different mask models, but here we are!
