The AI art sperging is very strange to me. Digital art has been a thing since the 2000s, and I guarantee many of the artists who have had their jimmies rustled use some sort of art program that helps them with line work, layering, etc. Mild PL, but I’m a hobby artist, I do everything from sketching, to line work, to coloring by hand. I’ve always felt that, while digital coloring can be beautiful, it doesn’t help you improve as much as physical media can. Even if you’re drawing same face anime, the use of markers and/or pencils makes your work so much more interesting than the countless digital pieces dumped onto DA or Pixiv. You really have to put in the effort to be unique with color theory and stylization if you’re going to go digital, but if you do, an AI isn’t going to be able to replicate your unique style anyway.

The fact that Reddit and Twitter are so adamantly opposed to AI art tells me that something else is going on. Because no one gave a shit about championing the hundreds of thousands of tiny indie artists until AI art became a talking point.

Hey I generally agree. If a country has no plan whatsoever for what immigrants are going to bring to the country and they can't support themselves, maybe they should stay where they are.

My sibling Bear, (34NB) and I (32F) have never really gotten along. Bear, has always been very abusive towards me. They constantly bullied me throughout my childhood, and pretty much ruined every milestone I've ever had.
As much I as have limited contact with Bear, we still occasionally have to interact at family events where my parents are involved. Unfortunately, every time I see Bear, they keep calling me by a nickname which I absolutely hate. To an outsider, the nickname in question isn't too egregious, but it is one that Bear has used when bullying and belittling me in the past, and I absolutely hate it. My stomach turns every time I hear it.
I have told Bear repeatedly not to call me by that name. I have even made a point of saying that it's not a joke, I hate the name, and to please respect my decision and call me by my real name. Bear tends to just laugh it off, and says because they are my older sibling, they can call me whatever they want.
I'm not exaggerating the very visceral reaction I have to this nickname. So since talking to Bear clearly doesn't work, I've thought about calling them by their deadname to prove a point. Bear changed their name about 6 years ago, and I've always made sure to respect that. But I'm really mad that I'm not getting that same respect. And I also know the connection between a name and a transition of gender identity is very important and sensitive, so I worry it might be going too far.
So I throw it out there for you guys. WIBTA if I deadname Bear to make a point, in an effort to get Bear to call me by my proper name?
Edit: Okay guys, I'm not completely far gone. In case I didn't make it clear, Bear is non-binary and goes by they/them. I'm seeing some comments misgendering them, so I thought I'd put that out there.

Mentioning because some people figured it was relevant. Bear used to physically and sexually abuse me, and would use the nickname during and after the assaults. The reason I haven't gone full NC is because I've never told my parents. The only times I see Bear are when my parents have invited us both for a visit. Luckily, these visits are few and far between, but being around Bear messes with my head, and the nickname makes it worse.
