havent been to the subreddit, but all the other linux discussion groups and pages ive been to haven't been a bunch of knowledgeable users, instead it is mostly just users arguing about which distro they like best and jerking off to how they currently have their desktop configured. the average poster on places like that isnt anymore knowledgeable on how to throw together a forum than your average reddit user is.

/r/linux is mostly composed of the worst kind of politically spergy FOSS autists, who know more about making garbage makework commits to a git project in order to clout-chase. Almost all of them are more interested in gimmicky shit than writing good code. Reddit hasn't been a place for proper software devs since the Obama AMA.

Most knowledgeable people get tired of shitty forums where there's 37 wrong answers all stickered or upvoted by the time they get there. Often the answer also isn't as simple as you could convey on Reddit, or they're just asking a stupid question or the wrong question.

"Hey, I tried to install XYZ and it said I needed a Rust compiler." "Here's how to install the Rust compiler......" When the actual answer was "apt install python3-pycryptography" because the python thing you asked pip to install was trying to compile it because none of the wheels available in PyPi supported your architecture.

Also Redditors won't pay my standard rate of $200/hr.

Linux to redditors is just an aesthetic thing for them. Most have no real technical aptitude or appreciation for the things it can do practically in a production environment. They care more for the silly whimsical projects that get them karma then anything that could be useful in situations like these.
