This absurd narrative was being pushed at the time. For example, Minnesota governor Tim Walz claimed that the violence in Minneapolis was actually the work of white supremacists:

Similar was being alleged in Wisconsin:

While I could imagine that eventually the story will be that the violence in summer 2020 was neo-Nazis attacking peaceful BLM protesters, too many people know what happened for it to be convincing. Beyond trial balloons such as those above I have rarely seen such claims made, not anymore. But it doesn't surprise me Redditors are still trying it.

It's actually pretty charitable for them to admit there was violence during the 2020 riots at all, usually they just pretend that there wasn't any whatsoever i.e. "summer of love", "fiery but mostly peaceful". They'll usually only acknowledge the violence when it's undeniable, but even then it's never their fault. It's always those mystery Nazis who randomly appear from nowhere and disappear into the ether just as quickly. You could do a rewrite of the narcissists' prayer with these people "that didn't happen, and if it did it wasn't that bad, and if it was IT WASN'T MY FAULT IT WAS YOURS FUCKING FASCIST"

I am always extremely amused to see an angry left winger desperately containing that N-Bomb you know is inside them, trying to come out like a turd turtle head while they try not to shit themselves in rage when they encounter a black person who does not agree with them.
