Mr PP said that puberty blockers are an adult decision and shouldn't be made for children. As a member of the ex-Mormon community, many of us have argued that being forced into a cult at a young age with life long consequences is wrong. Baptism should be an adult decision when you can make better informed consent.
Parents already have extraordinary power to force their children into their worldview. Smith and the UCP are actually stripping parent rights, and of course children's rights, rather than strengthening them. As you can see, it already has slippery slope implications.
Edit: maybe I should have added a sarcastic flair, especially since there's a lot of different views on baptism. So, I'll share some of the ways it affected me.
I was taught black people were not as righteous as white people before they were born. I was taught that the indigenous peoples were given their skin color as a rebellion against god. I was taught that indigenous people could turn white if they joined the church. Baptism was used as a control mechanism to remind you that at 8 years old you made that choice to follow all these laws and rules that you knew nothing about. My parents vowed to slit their own throats if they revealed the secrets. I was taught that through my sinning I chose to be gay. I was sent to therapy and told I wasn't gay but just had a problem. This led to marriage. This led to children. This affects their lives too even though none of us are involved anymore.
One last edit: I never said these were the same. I said it's a slippery slope when you attack rights. Evidence suggests that for the well-being of a transgendered child, puberty blockers can be effective. Is there the potential for harm? Absolutely. We must be careful. This ban doesn't reflect evidence and is justified because there could be problems. My comparison was to show that baptism (not simple dunking or sprinkling in Mormonism - it is a control mechanism). So, baptisms can cause problems. Most of the time it probably doesn't.

After a bunch of people in the comments called them a retard the OP says "I probably should have added a sarcastic tag." It's not stupid it's just a joke.
 
That's basically the argument of all Baptist churches. Baptizing a baby is pointless to them because accepting Christ is an individual decision that must be made with a sound mind. They want you to wait until you're mentally capable of making responsible decisions. Many Baptist pastors will interview you before agreeing to do the baptism. Jesus was baptized as an adult.

It seems to me that the tides in society are finally, slowly turning against these people.
When things return to normalcy after this fever dream of the last two decades, I really do hope these assclowns, who in their piety to their delusions have promoted destructive policies all because both the causes and the solutions to these problems have been contrary to their aesthetic sensibilities, will have to face the consequences of having been like this. I am really hoping the Fates have accountability planned for these people...
 
The federal agentsmods at r/conservative rejected my request for a flair which is required to post in 60% of the threads there. I'm not sure what problem they could possibly have with "Holocauster Tycoon" but they invited me to come discuss it on their Discord.
 
Holy fuck, I am riveted by this person and his/her story. On the one hand, I've heard of some crummy working situations in public schools (in particular, I know people with first-hand experience of "phonics is evil" admins leading to years of failing reading scores). On the other hand, this person sounds insane. My one regret is not screencapping their first post early enough. Multiple schools in a couple years and an "everyone sucks but me" mindset; what a nightmare.

In fact baptism of small kids is a thing for parents and grandparents, not for the kids themselves. It is a tradition that factually doesn't bring any obligations to the child when they grow up. In Russia, almost everyone gets baptized, yet the number of people who actually practice is laughably low.
