I'm not actually surprised by this. It's absolutely ridiculous to need to put up a bond of the entire amount when it's something insane like this. It's basically an invitation to corrupt judges just to set the damages award so high the defendant can't conceivably pay it to fuck them over and essentially block them appealing because they won't have the money to put up the bond, and once all their shit is seized, won't be able to afford counsel.Trump's bond was reduced and predditors are MAD
It makes a mockery of the right of appeal.
The amounts of the judgments in both the fraud case and the E. Jean Carroll case are also so exorbitant it almost automatically raises serious questions as to the methodology used to reach them that is worthy of appellate review.
