It was mostly just sad cope but then I found a single mom who seems way too ok about her adult autistic child seeking legal suicide
I wonder how many frustrated, exhausted parents of severe autists occasionally wish their child would die. Is it some unspoken dark secret? She seems surprisingly quick to be on board for this. I am morbidly fascinated.

Many do. But her daughter isn’t severely autistic. She sounds like she has Asperger’s. No one’s wiping her daughter’s ass or getting beat up. Absolutely disgusting

Redditors, in a move surprising absolutely nobody, really want you to EAT THE BUGS

I beg to differ, insect farming is gross because it involves well... insects. I and likely most other people think bugs are gross. I don't want to eat things that I find gross, simple as. It's the same reason critters like mice or snakes are not popular table fare.

The resource argument makes no sense either, studies show more than enough food is produced on the planet to theoretically feed everyone as is. There is no "global food shortage", just global food inequality.

This argument is retarded. Yeah and there's also isolated tribes in Africa that dabble in cannibalism and eating animal brains, so why don't you join in and indulge? You're just not used to it so you think it's gross, stop being so ignorant and give it a try bro!!

Csmajors is such a funny sub because instead of actually being about data structures, algorithms, projects, and development, it's just one giant circlejerk about not getting internships or FTOs.
I'm getting my masters in CS rn and I immediately learned to never browse that subreddit because it was literally just all doomposting from lazy idiots who thought getting a bachelors in CS and nothing else would be easy money and are now distraught at the idea that they have to make themselves look competitive in a competitive market, especially in the current job market being raped by biden. Literally zero helpful information or insightful discussion.

I'm not sure how it is for other majors but generally employers want someone who is actually able to prove they can do the things they say then can do. If you have nothing on your Github, don't know VCS, never did internships, and show basically no interest in skill development or learning things beyond what you're forced to learn, you're not going to beat out the guy applying for the same job who has actual industry experience.

Insect farming overall takes MORE resources than ordinary farming and its harder to control parasites when doing so. So the whole idea is a stupid pipe dream for these people.

Can you link to anything proving this or no? Not doubting, just curious. Not trying to eat fucking cockroaches but I'd expect the opposite on the resources. The parasites I'd believe. Some of those fuckers can live a long time without much of anything

You're right to question it, I was trying to find a better source as I remember reading about this a while ago. The issue is basically the energy consumption involved with feeding them.

Considering the amount of degenerate freaks on Reddit it feels bizarre and surreal to read something written by an actual biological heterosexual woman. To bad she's a weird loser.
If a cis woman posts on reddit, she's 100% grifting something. Cosplay, "cosplay", onlyfans, or good ol ego and dick chasing.

While browsing reddit for Leapfrog app ideas for my toddler I stumbled upon r/Autism_Parenting. Of course I had to browse it.

Something feels wrong here, besides the obvious. She has a top .01 IQ and is the most emotionally competent person ever but is still without friends and seeking suicide? Maybe it’s fake, maybe the mom has a personality disorder, or the daughter, but something’s missing.

This is absolutely not how it is for other majors . I can only speak of this from an engineering perspective but when I interviewed they threw a mountain of lingo at me as a test to see if I would ask questions then had me take them through my research, show them my figures, and when they liked the artistic flare they asked to see some of my art. Research was in a completely unrelated field and I spent about 6 months being brought up to speed being payed standard engineer fees.

“Industry experience” is what gets you hired for 300k a year. My research gives me “industry experience” in a very niche field and I have occasionally been offered (paltry) consulting fees by people coming to me. If industry experience is competing with greenhorns the greenhorns have every right to be worried.

It sounds like there needs to be a test or a certification similar to what engineers get. But even then that’s a choice we make a few years in our career, HR is not going to be reading your GitHub project for auto translating doujinshi novels to check for proper documentation. It sounds like they are blindly grabbing the best looking thing they can find

You find them gross because they are huge vectors for disease, even in a controlled environment. It's completely normal and why we, as a culture, said fuck that. They are scavangers, they are small, and they are many. They are very easy to become contaminated, even if you're trying to keep them in closed environment. You can't shoot up millions of insects or thousands of mice with antibiotics and keep their environment clean. It's just not worth it.

Could I suggest something? I don't think it's the mother writing this, but I don't think it's a troll either. I think this is actually the daughter writing from the perspective of her mother.

For a couple of reasons. The first is that if OP has a 35 year old daughter, that means she's at least in her mid 50s. But the post isn't written like how someone of that age would - putting a trigger warning at the start of the post, censoring the word "suicide" with an asterisk, the general writing style. I also think an older person wouldn't come to social media with a problem of this nature to begin with. I think this is OP feeling like they're a disappointment and a burden to their mother, they probably do have a history of depression and low self-esteem, and maybe her mother is genuinely resentful of her (or at least comes across that way) and has implied she wouldn't care if she did it.

If that's the case, she's probably written this post because she's seeking some form of second opinion to see if her mother's reaction is justified, and if that's the case then this is heartbreaking.
