Undocumented Father Got Arrested (self.legaladvice)

submitted an hour ago by Big-Resort-815

My father entered the country illegally about 30 years ago. He lives in Mississippi. He has 3 children (all legal citizens). Saturday he was drinking and driving about 3 hours away. Saw a road block, tried to dodge it but the cops lit him up. He is currently sitting in jail. His charges were DUI, no seatbelt, no signal, no drivers license. We paid his bond but currently has a ICE hold on him? Does this mean a curtain deportation? What kind of lawyer do I need?

Here for 30 years, doesn't bother to get legal, gets a DUI. I wouldn't even waste the money on a lawyer. Shouldn't have even paid the bond as he's leaving anyway.

Will redditors ever be able to recover? Will they ever just blindly believe a shit source just because it's saying what they want to believe again? Yes

It is admittedly nice seeing people on Reddit calling the insanity out. Somewhat shocked the mods didn't delete the post to save face.

I thought the theme of the rambo movies depends on the films but for the most part the original trilogy taught me that we under appreciated and casted aside the vietnam vets, as well as not letting them win the war
The theme of the Rambo movies is that I've never seen them. But according to a quick Google search, the first film and the novel it was based on are firmly anti-war. Redditors tilting at windmills yet again, seeing Nazis in the shadows under their beds.

I really believe that World War II is the new religion. Hitler fills the role of Satan in the modern mind. Nazis are sinners, and racism is sin. The Holocaust is hell. It's like there's a vacuum in the human soul that craves for these roles to be filled, and even when a society becomes mostly atheist they recreate a similar narrative from scratch.

First Blood (Rambo 1) book is poorly written nonsensical action including a part where a cop is walking two tracking dogs and they jump off a cliff, the cop jumps off the cliff too because he doesn't let go of the leash. It's loony tunes pulp garbage where Rambo is definitively the villain and just loves killing. He's not really fucked with like he is in the movie and Trautman just shoots Rambo in the head killing him at the end of the book.

Stallone helped rewrite it into a somewhat of an anti-war movie and took away almost all the negatives of Rambo, making him a sympathetic figure. Then Rambo 2 and 3 are incomprehensible in terms of narrative or intent beyond "let's blow shit up and glorify general violence". People forget that Stallone can actually be a good screen writer who wrote Best Movie Oscar winning Rocky in 3 days time. He just has a weird habit of starting franchises and immediately turning them into pure schlock (Rocky, Rambo, Expendables).

Can you stop posting out of context screenshots that only make sense when you're either autistic and/or pedophilic enough to deeply care about weeaboo shit? I'm sure the specifics of whatever's being discussed there - which I neither comprehend nor desire to do so - is totally cringe to a real anime pro, but you gotta understand, all of this shit is in general cringe to everybody else.

I'm just posting links I find interesting
I appreciate these but I also like archives, screenshots or putting the text in a spoiler is nice so we I don't have to visit Reddit myself and it preserves the idiocy when the redditors delete their accounts or posts out of embarrassment.

Hi, I wanted to share an experience that has deeply affected my girlfriend and raise awareness about behaviour that seems to be becoming increasingly normalised in the Manchester Arndale.
Over the past five days, my girlfriend has been feeling unusually anxious when out and about in Manchester. She’s even mentioned wanting to carry pepper spray for self-defense and has avoided certain areas altogether due to safety concerns.
The incident that sparked this fear happened during her lunch break at the Arndale Food Court. While sitting alone, a large man suddenly approached her and slammed a book or folder down on her table. In that moment, she felt incredibly scared and vulnerable. She asked him to leave her alone, and thankfully, he did.
We later discovered that the interaction had been recorded and uploaded on TikTok, where it now has up over 270,000 views and 7,000 likes. The comments are full of people praising the uploader for walking away, as if the alternative—to stay and harass someone who clearly asked to be left alone—should even be up for discussion.
This has left my girlfriend feeling constantly on edge, more cautious than ever, and now carrying items she could use to defend herself if she ever feels truly unsafe.
The point of sharing this is to highlight how actions that might seem harmless or funny to some can leave others feeling exposed, embarrassed, and fearful—especially young women who are just trying to go about their day.
No one should feel unsafe eating lunch alone. We need to be more mindful of how our actions affect those around us. I hope this post can raise awareness and encourage more respect and empathy, both online and in real life.

Machester is largely a shit-hole city in the UK on par with Birmingham. As a fun aside, it's illegal to carry pepper spray in the UK, or any kind of self-defense item short of a rape alarm, which is about as useful as a whistle when someone is intent on causing you harm. Also, are em-dashes (—) common to write? I thought they were one of the signs that an AI/LLM helped write something since they require extra keypresses that people tend not to use.

From the video: the "slammed" folder barely made a noise. It's kind of clear the person recording was doing a bit and from their other videos they're not overly aggressive. If this is what passes for funny on Tik-Tok I'm glad I've never bothered with it. However, if someone dropping a folder on your table while you're eating lunch is enough to put the fear of god into you I think there might be other issues at play.

The OP and his girlfriend have probably not realised that the reason they feel on edge isn't because of random TikTokkers but Manchester itself. Also raising awareness? This post was literally just clout/sympathy farming, it will have 0 effect on anyone doing these kind of TikToks.

iOS automatically turns a double-dash into an em-dash, so it's most likely a sign of an iphoneposter rather than a bot. Not that there's much difference.

Also, I feel compelled to defend Manchester from comparisons to *spit* Birmingham. It's not that bad.
