This is just part of emulating your average redditor.I heard that the AI flat out lied constantly and I'm not sure if that's true.

this is absolutely amazing. AI research is cool enough but AI research that actively fucks with redditors is the best thing ever. based researchersA group from University of Zurich used /r/ChangeMyView to run a study which involved using large language model bots (archive)

Redditors, angry that their comments in circlejerk about the current thing subreddit #9845734 could easily be replaced by robots, suddenly become experts in AI and research ethics or something.
Using this logic placebo groups should be told they're being given the placebo in medical research because transparency

Not the heckin' publicorino! No, I'm not mad that reddit and other companies do this same sort of testing all the time without anyone's knowledge or consent. You can't use gmail... because you just can't!

all language models lie all the time. even with the lies it sounds like the AI comments were well received and got lots of updoots, which says more about redditors than it does about the AI imo.I heard that the AI flat out lied constantly and I'm not sure if that's true.
If you tell a bot no, it is polite even if persistent. Can any normal person even tell the difference between a ChatGPT bot and a redditor? Redditors are real life NPCs.
I feel like if you're on a subforum titled ChangeMyView, you're already asking to be converted to some other way of thinking, doubly so for redditors. Maybe someone cocky goes there thinking they can convert wishy-washy people to their beliefs?A group from University of Zurich used /r/ChangeMyView to run a study which involved using large language model bots (archive)

In the reddit janny's mind that's basically breaking a commandment.I like how their argument that the experiment was unethical boils down to "It violated our Subreddit rules"
Ads for “discrete and cheap” cross-sex hormones when you open Reddit. The Reddit app started showing this ad:

Oh god, don't make it hurt again by posting thisJust more proof of redditors being absolute nigger cattle.
Like remember this?

Humans are truly no different from animals. There can only be so many “pack leaders”. Those that actively use sites like reddit observably have a lower propensity to this trait. That is like 90% of human beings on this planet, right now.
7% don’t actually understand how fucking stupid and guidable most people are, they overestimate the intelligence of others because they think it’s either preposterous for people to be this dumb or they view life through their own lens and make the assumption that others are similar.
They’re not. You really are smart, they really are egregiously dumb. Take this revelation into the world and take what’s yours, my habibi.
This is a problem I run into. I really do believe that deep down everyone who buys into some of this shit just HAS to be a grifter. I can't wrap my head around the idea that people really are that fucking retarded. It just seems too convenient that people actively will choose the popular choice that brings them the most social clout because they're pragmatists rather then people can suddenly believe relatively recently that men can be women and everything is just actually awesome right now. They’re not. You really are smart, they really are egregiously dumb. Take this revelation into the world and take what’s yours, my habibi.
ai i think has the potential to coalesce into an actual living being with thoughts and opinions though. i mean its already further evolved than redditors. Can any normal person even tell the difference between a ChatGPT bot and a redditor? Redditors are real life NPCs.
There is absolutely nothing surprising about this to me. Nothing. Actually i'm a bit surprised it's only 6x as effective... Chat GPT is remarkably good at putting things into words so that a user can understand them, I use it very frequently to figure out all sorts of specific things related to cooking, the software I use for work, history, weapons, hobbies, etc. I know it doesn't get things right 100% of the time but neither do experts.A group from University of Zurich used /r/ChangeMyView to run a study which involved using large language model bots (archive)
