I refuse to use reddit. No matter how much social pressure or attempts at forced integration come into play, it's one of those things I've Sworn to never do for nearly a decade now, and successfuly done so. I don't know what the fuck it is about that fucking place but every time someone I've known ends up using it for too long they eventually all become literally the same fake ass unfunny kinda personality that only seems to care about upvotes and influence over others. Not exactly sure what kinda social conditioning is at play there but the fucking memes about Reddit's brand of bullshit hivemind behavior really do have parallels with reality. It's not like other sites where people make jokes about "oh no I was exposed to porn and became gay" It's something a bit more insidious and corporate.

I'll miss this place. Perversely enough for a forum dedicated to laughing at people, it's one of the few civilized places left on an increasingly nightmarish Internet.

Null did great work keep it going for as long as he did but perhaps it's for the best.

All these people like me who spent far too much time on here need to go out and talk to people in the real world. The Internet will be hostile territory for anyone who isn't a complete communist and hopefully, that will get them involved in things that can make a real-world difference.

The thing I said in my earlier post about "not letting people rule over you through shame and fear" applies really well here. The only places on the internet that are hostile like this are the large sites, which will be the only things left after this. However, not everyone on these sites is gonna be like that. You'd probably be surprised how many people are out there that can be chill but still disagree on politics. It's a lot more rare these days, but I've managed to find quite a few guys I can still shoot the shit with, some of em are just full on commies too! The trick is you more or less you need to keep it away from the prying eyes of the jannies and indoctrinated, at least until they somehow successfully set up bot algorithms to perma-auto ban any wrongspeak online.
If anyone uses the farms as a hugbox they're probably gonna be the ones to freak out over the first instance of getting funny ratings they don't like. Hugbox mentality is what got the internet to the point it is in right now, and I fucking despise it.

Section 230 has nothing to do with free speech. It is a protection for sites so they don't get slammed with a lawsuit when Ted says "damn my neighbor Tom is a real pedophile", if you think removing a protection will make the current climate your a retard who needs to be shot.

From what I can tell, this goes for any site that hosts content, so facebook, twitter, youtube, vimeo, etc. will all be liable. So yes every single site in the US will be able to censor what gets posted.
