Everyone knows remakes are usually shit, unnecessary, devoid of creativity, pozzed cashgrabs, or all of the above.
And yet, sometimes I think of an old show that was killed off too fast or got taken into weird directions and then killed, and feel like "Man, this shit had potential, if I would like see it picked up again and done properly".
Like Seaquest DSV. It had a pretty neat setting and was basically trying to be Star Trek TNG in the oceans for the first season, and heavily changed direction with each of the two subsequent seasons. From adding aliens and stuff in season 2, to going a lot more action-oriented and dark in season 3. But I still feel like the whole setting had potential, and a careful mixture of the elements of all three seasons could totally work in my opinion. The more peaceful nature of the mission from season 1, navigating the more gritty and perilous outside world from season 3, and maybe add some mystique and antediluvian artefacts from season 2.
Or Space: Above and Beyond, an early 90s military SciFi show that I am absolutely sure heavily influenced Stargate and Battlestar Galactica, and was too good for this world. And especially too good for Fox, who, as they're prone to do, killed it after one season.
Or Terra Nova, which I enjoyed quite a bit and then it got cancelled on a cliffhanger.
What are some shows or maybe movies you think might actually deserve a remake or plain reimagining/picking up the concept again? Given the amount of kinda trashy but also quite enjoyable shortlived shows from the 90s and 2000s, there's bound to be some more that might actually deserve a remake.
