Remakes you would actually like to see

Everyone knows remakes are usually shit, unnecessary, devoid of creativity, pozzed cashgrabs, or all of the above.
And yet, sometimes I think of an old show that was killed off too fast or got taken into weird directions and then killed, and feel like "Man, this shit had potential, if I would like see it picked up again and done properly".
Like Seaquest DSV. It had a pretty neat setting and was basically trying to be Star Trek TNG in the oceans for the first season, and heavily changed direction with each of the two subsequent seasons. From adding aliens and stuff in season 2, to going a lot more action-oriented and dark in season 3. But I still feel like the whole setting had potential, and a careful mixture of the elements of all three seasons could totally work in my opinion. The more peaceful nature of the mission from season 1, navigating the more gritty and perilous outside world from season 3, and maybe add some mystique and antediluvian artefacts from season 2.
Or Space: Above and Beyond, an early 90s military SciFi show that I am absolutely sure heavily influenced Stargate and Battlestar Galactica, and was too good for this world. And especially too good for Fox, who, as they're prone to do, killed it after one season.
Or Terra Nova, which I enjoyed quite a bit and then it got cancelled on a cliffhanger.
What are some shows or maybe movies you think might actually deserve a remake or plain reimagining/picking up the concept again? Given the amount of kinda trashy but also quite enjoyable shortlived shows from the 90s and 2000s, there's bound to be some more that might actually deserve a remake.

I'd like to see Rayman 1 being remade into a 3D platformer. I saw a video (see below) demonstrating the leaked CPA engine being used to remake one of the levels. That made me wonder how well would the other level's design layout translate into 3D.

I've always felt that Logan's Run would be good if it had a remake with a high budget, as the story idea behind it and such is good, just the execution back then was a bit hammy for me.
The vast majority of older b-movie horror plots that would be elevated if they had a higher budget, better acting etc, would probably outsell a lot of the current mainstream horrors made today. But nah, let's keep making new Halloweens/Scream/Chucky and remake Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday 13th for the millionth time.

Even more cruelly hard, I assume.
1.Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
2.Fallout 1 and 2 not remade by Bethesda
3.Warhammer Dawn of War 1
4.Wizardry 8
5.Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
6.Call of Duty 2 (specifically the campaign)
Agreed. Dawn of War still has an avid modding community, I think. Modding the game to Apocalypse scales and such, really cool stuff.

Logan's Run was really cool. Too low budget to do the original novel justice, but yeah, definitely a worthy story to bring to the screen.

Humor me: Zardoz as a mini-series.

That movie was one of those times that an auteur really needed an editor, because it had at least twice as many interesting concepts as it had time and space to show and explain, and almost no budget. Nobody even remembers the dystopian supercomputer part of the plot, because it was portrayed as swirling lights and a voiceover in a movie where a lot of things were swirling lights and a voiceover.

Most TV shows these days are already "The penis is bad".

The Last Starfighter (1984)
It's a bad movie with a great premise, some of you people like it because of nostalgia but it's bad.
For those who don't remember, a kid gets this video game and gets a high score, only to find out that the game is actually a recruiting tool made by aliens in order to find pilots to fight an interstellar war.
Think about how much more relevant would a video game themed movie be today instead of the mid 80's when gaming was barely getting off the ground and the industry was still figuring itself out.
You could even make the game that the kid plays in the movie and sell it as a tie in.
I'm surprised that Hollywood isn't making that movie right now.

The Truman Show (1998 )
It's a good movie, sure, possibly Carrey's best one.
However, the idea of an ordinary person being a secret celebrity that the whole world watches can be done very differently in the age of social media and smart phones.
Basically, this could use an update because of the technological and societal changes that occured since the movie's release.
Hollywood would probably fuck it up but still, I would like to see this remade by competent people.

The Devil's Advocate (1997)
This movie is a prime suspect in the case of wasted potential.
First of all, get a better lead actor, Keanu sucks in the role... he sucks in general as an actor and this is a movie that requires the lead to have range.
Second, the plot could be a lot more psychological and complex, I don't think the seduction of the lead by the devil was done well, it feels like someone not that smart wrote it.
3rd... have you seen the crappy CGI in the climax? That definitely needs an update.

Phantoms (1998 )
I really like the first half of this movie but once the big reveal happens, it goes downhill and never picks up.
Aside from the writing being bad in the 2nd half, it's another late 90's horror movie that has a big CGI climax that completely doesn't hold up visually.
Fix that shit and we could have something great.

Unfortunately, that fag Ernest Cline and his derivative work Armada will probably turn this into an impossibility.

The Chronicles of Prydian are practically crying out for a proper Peter Jackson style adaptation, but knowing the state of Disney these days, they'd probably turn Eilonwy into an insufferable girlboss and Taran would have all of his honorable qualities stripped away for the sake of same. So never fucking mind. *sigh*

This one could be amazing in the hands of someone who's secretly anti-woke. Have the 'show' have the purpose of proving that if you have a genderqueer bipoc and raise them in the same environment as 'rich' (in the sense Biden used it that time, where he just meant white) kids that they'll grow up to be just as smart and productive as they would be, and then just have them be a perpetual fuckup because somehow their environment still isn't 'fair'. Then maybe edit it to where it's really easy for someone to clip the scenes that take place in their home to add strategic chirps and upload them to youtube

For my own, I figure it's going to happen eventually, I'm waiting on a Persona 4, ideally Persona 4 Golden, remake. Golden is already pretty great as an enhanced remaster but I'd love for it to be brought up to the quality of 5/5 Royal and 3 Reload. I'm worried they might wait for the 20th anniversary which would be 2028 so hopefully we get it sooner lol, but Persona 3 was 2006 (to 4's 2008 ) and it came out this year so they didn't wait for any special anniversary on it thankfully. The climax of the game takes place just before Christmas so if it came out October/November of next year that'd be my ideal-while-still-somewhat-plausible timing though I think 2026 is more likely

This but without the janky as fuck controls or bad fov and that HORRIBLE final battle before the end. The labaratory part of the game being overhauled to be less repetitve and samey would be great too. but given the recent anouncement of namco going full pozz mode i don't want to see them AIDSify the game.
