Resident Evil 4 Remake - Ashley is now an Instagram Thot

I could maybe buy this explanation if it was played more like he was stressed, but it seems pretty clear to me that Leon is meant to be THE COOLEST dude who is completely unfazed by everything he encounters.
Maybe. I always got the feeling he was intentionally playing it cool though.

Until you see that he's a near self-destructive alcoholic in the movies.

I don't understand the complaints that the remake won't be campy. I'd rather RE4R try to do its own thing than fail to recreate a perfectly-pitched level of goofiness. OG RE4 was lightning in a bottle -- don't even bother trying to recapture it
The beginning of RE4 and all of its old trailers depicted it as serious, too. Entering the house, shooting a non-zombie, and then the two cops outside getting massacred, leaving Leon all alone was a phenomenal start. It was definitively horror (a term which i feel gets misconstrued way too much), it's just that the campiness stood out way more between the action-movie moments, and Saddler being aware enough to even call attention to how ridiculous Leon even being there was. It sure did have a lot of camp, but it had an equal amount of levity between the silly stuff, which is why I think RE4 works so well. It knew when to take itself seriously, and when not to.

I can only hope they do the same thing. Seemingly serious start with the more charming stuff thrown in between. RE3 had that kinda stuff, but not enough of it to where it was expected more, and so the moments stood out in stark contrast.

>people forgetting how RE4 was connected to RE3

The Nemesis Parasite was a modified Plaga and Sadler was a former Umbrella Employee. I honestly enjoyed him just being in it for the money, I just wish that they stuck to the idea of Chris going into some research lab that a whistle blower told him about to fight bioweapons. They should've ripped off the the Thing and some hollow Earth bullshit rather than do China being center stage. I hope that the fucking damn breaks.

The thing is, Umbrella was more than just a corporation, Spencer had plans of world domination, it doesn't make sense that he wouldn't have had some sort of plan B and would be someone worth devoting a whole game to take down, instead they side step it completely in 4 and he's a pretty throwaway character in 5, it's made all the more worse that they were creating a loose trilogy of games revolving around the founders of Umbrella, the first was CV, the second was 0 and 4 was supposed to be the third.

The way CV deep dives into the history of the Ashford family was fascinating, but they were meant to be the lowest rung on the ladder, you're telling me a game delving into Spencer's whole family history is not worth doing? This is the guy that is the whole story reason why any of this is happening in the first place, who was he and where did he come from? Instead everything is kept very vague and throwaway, I just don't get it.

The series forever lost something when it bungled the handling of the Umbrella storyline like it did, because not only were we left hanging in a bad way, the series went off in a bunch of different directions and things got too complicated lore wise, it was much better when everything revolved around Umbrella instead of a bunch of different groups and organizations, RE4 Remake was an opportunity to correct this but I guess Capcom doesn't want to stray too far into alternate timelines and shit.

The series got better but it's still past it's peak, 7 and 8 took the approach of keeping everything vague and mysterious, what I hope is that Capcom will eventually be able to tie everything together more neatly, but they keep kicking the can down the road, I was pretty disappointed how few reveals there were in 8 with regards to the wider lore.

But at any rate, they seem to be pointing towards there being a bigger picture beyond Umbrella, Miranda definitely seems like she has some ties to this and they could easily retcon Salazar into having ties as well, who knows what the future holds.
Like I said in the actual Resident Evil thread, Capcom employees were getting sick of the Umbrella plotline. It ended up better for all of us that they tried something new.

You're referring to a detail they added in RE3 Remake, right? While it's true there's Nemesis parasites in the original RE3 I don't remember any direct connection with Los Plagas being mentioned in the original games, nor do I remember Saddler being stated to be a former Umbrella employee.

Unless that's mentioned in Separate Ways, which I've never played, I've only played the main game of 4 and Operation Ada.

Nothing wrong with them trying something new... if they had properly concluded the Umbrella storyline first, the Las Plagas shit should have been saved for an RE5.

I will never get over Spencer being a throwaway villain instead of getting a whole game revolving around him, I will never get over the wasted potential of "Spencer castle" as a setting and instead Lost in Nightmare just copy pasted the Spencer mansion mostly, I'm sorry, it just doesn't make any sense to treat the FOUNDER of Umbrella and the dude that set the whole series' storyline in motion like that.

I didn't remember this either, especially since I've always thought that Saddler should have had a connection to Umbrella.

I don't even see it on any wiki's either so I'd like to know what the hell I missed.

That's a file in R3make that mentions that the Nemesis parasite is an offshoot of the plagas. Umbrella did not like the idea because "viruses are easyer to controle then parasites."

I can see them retcon sadler to have worked for umbrella before they went under.

I want to say I remember finding that file in R3make but I can't quite remember for sure.

But at any rate setting up the Los Plagas early like that makes it make more sense, Los Plagas even more makes more sense post RE7 and RE8 with the introduction of the mold, RE's world being one where there's a crazy version of every type of infection makes more sense than having just two, in fact it's kind of neat how the series has gone from viruses to parasites to mold.

Judging by the leaked images the president skimped on ballistics this time around.

Another day another vintage vidya crush defiled. God help if someone remakes Haunting Ground.
Fiona's titty jiggle and generally sexualized appearance actually was a crucial element because it added to the feeling of vulnerability, especially as it was heavily implied she gets raped if you fail to escape certain bad guys.

It makes sense to have elements that are HORRFYING in your HORROR game, it sucks that today's culture is too wussified to handle certain themes though.

I often wonder what a RE engine reboot of Haunting Ground would be like, but it would likely be toned down, it just sucks because "Resident Evil but with alchemy" is a great idea with tons of potential still, especially considering how many horror games in the years since have been predicated on the idea of an enemy you can't kill (which of course started with Clock Tower).

It's been some time that I've played Hauting ground, but the entire premise of it is Fiona getting abused, impregnated and tortured, right?
I disticly remember the main bad guy being an insane immortal who was fixated getting reborn trough her or something, while his homonucles servant was jelous of her having a working woumb and wanting to kill her to take it for herself.

This game would never get off the ground today.

Fiona being hot was important to the themes, yes. But you can tell the designers enjoyed what they made with the extra costumes and goofy shit.

Ashley being a blonde bombshell may not be as thematically relevant but damnit it was important to me.

From what I remember, the main bad guy wants to impregnate Fiona with himself and likely rapes her if you fail, the homunculus maid is jealous of her womb and cuts it out if you fail and the Sloth from Goonies style retarded groundskeeper thinks Fiona is a doll and even if it's not sexual kills her by "playing" with her and not knowing his own strength Lenny from Of Mice and Men and style. (tell me 'bout the wabbits, George)

The psychosexual undercurrent made it feel like a cross between Resident Evil and Silent Hill, it's no surprise since it came from the (tragically late) writer of Code Veronica which had it's incestual and gender bender themes and imo has the best story of any Resident Evil game, the scariest horror is stuff that reminds you that the scariest monster is not a zombie, werewolf or anything crazy like that, but what your fellow man is capable of, which RE2 also deals with.

It reminds me of how in Stephen King's IT, the scariest moment in the novel is is the idea of a dad wanting to fuck his own daughter, despite revolving around the cosmic horror of Pennywise, the scariest thing is when he holds a mirror up to what everyday people are capable of.

so apparently she's the person they used to model Ashely in RE4 remake.

Isn't Luis commenting on Ashley's tits and being flirtatious not a sexism thing but rather a joke/commentary on Luis's character being a stereotypical romance novel esque Italian lothario?

He's literally wearing a poet shirt with the top button unbuttoned.

Theyre gonna remove the Ashley section by having her hulk out of her metal constraints and proceeding to suplex all the ganados that come after her

"Im not some princess you have to rescue, Leon"

Ada appears out of nowhere and scissors her as Leon and Luis confess their feelings to one another

How far down (lol) are midgets in the oppresion scale? Salazar might get cut depending on where they rank but if they keep him as a white man they'll throw in some small pp jokes

Krauser is too much of a gigachad to be kept in as is, he's getting cut or blackwashed with a new sad backstory

Bitores Mendez will be genderswapped but will remain a huge bastard, they gonna get a trans woman to play him i mean her

The Merchant will get a backstory nobody asked for

What am i missing here

What's the joke/commentary? lol we made this character a stereotype?

Salazar will be a literal child this time so he can remain small and avoid being offensive(?) to midgets. Also will make you sympathize with him that Las Plagas even affects children.

Hannigan will just be a voice so they can avoid doing the walkie talkie animations and not have to model another actress.
