I found this absolutely wonderful article.

If you think the title is cringe enough, read the article. It’s even worse. “Re5 is racist” “infinite darkness is xenophobic, racist, islamophobic” (yes, that many and more) absolutely wonderful takes.

I mean honestly I don’t know which was worse. The kotaku final fantasy x “kimahri makes me wet” article or this.
Heh. well now that I think about it, they did kill the shit out of every Chinese character shown onscreen. :story:

Re6 is really starting to charm me with how Jake and Sherry interact. She really brings something to the table most game chicks dont have these days. Charm, big assets and acting like an honest to god woman.

I hope they bring em back for another game. Or at least have some next generation shit going on post RE8 with a kid.

Time to add RE5 into the "Things that could never be made nowadays" list, right next to Blazing Saddles

Come to think of it, the "RE5 is racist!" controversies from 2008-2009 were eerily a lot like modern woke hysterics. The first time I heard of Ta-Nahesi Coates was because of his autistic temper tantrum over the fact RE5 was set in Africa.

This was in the early Obama years before woke leftism was really that much of a thing outside the fringes of academia.

Africa is one of those examples where you can describe the situation but offer no proposal. What are you going to do, re-colonize it?

In what sense? 🤔

I mean it was right there, next to what you quoted.

It wasn't particularly deep, but 5's lore made a pretty significant deal out of how the native population were victims of capitalism and the Western world. Umbrella and Tricell were explicitly white American/European deploying their shit in parts of the world nobody would care about or miss.

Shooting a few spear chuckers apparently invalidated all of that.

Soubds like journalists reached for the low-hanging fruit, there.

There's also a hidden conversation where Chris is critical of America and capitalism.

It makes sense why he'd be cynical after the events of Revelations.
When the RE equivalent of the CIA/FBI manufactures a false flag terror attack on a major city.

I hope they keep making him the Big boss of Resident evil.

This is part of why I absolutely loved his characterisation in Village. You see these hints over the years in previous games how he was optimistic, with big ideas and plans...but life just keeps disproving and chewing up the poor bastard. He keeps going through what's apparently little more than momentum.

The smile he gives Ethan in the factory was perfect: its the exact sort of face you make when biting down and hiding your manic depression, if only for a second.

Such a Chad.

See when I played RE5 and 6 right after 4, I thought Chris was kinda boring. He seemed like a generic action hero in comparison to Leon. I really appreciate how he's been given some real depth and characterization as an aging hardass who just cant stop fighting.

Now if only he could get Leon to fuck his sister.
I will never not love the shit out of that meme. I wonder how Capcom views and will react to it. It seems infinite darkness "tried" (and failed) to put the Chris posting to rest.

Also im at the mid way point of all the RE6 chapters, and my enjoyment seems to dramatically rise the more guns I get. To the point where I seriously think this game would have been better received if it adopted an episodic approach like Revelations.

It's honestly one of my favorite memes. It's one of those 'So dumb it's good' memes.

I'd just love it if Capcom posted something about RE9 saying that Leon had settled down and has kids...

And those kids have a distinct Asian look to them.

I've found that unless you're playing co-op, more guns and infinite ammo make the game a lot better. For as shit as it can be, as a zombie shooter it gets pretty hellaciously fun when you can just BLAM zombies with no worries about ammo.
