I don't feel like there's enough functional difference between them to shit on one in particular, but 3 is my favorite of the original trilogy so maybe I'm biased.1-2 are good, 3 is a shit show.

At this point there isn't. But back then RE3 was looking stale compared to the other games in the genre. The dodge was quite janky, there was only one scenario, some of the game was reused from RE2 and Nemesis while cool was Mr X all over again (but done better). We had Dino Crisis, Code Veronica, Blue Stinger, Silent Hill, Parasite eve 2. The genre had really moved forward in a very short span of time. And RE1-3 came out back to back. So you still had RE2 fresh on the mind if you didn't buy it immediately and if you did you would have gone through 4 scenarios. Effectively having played RE 5-6 times depending on if you did Chris and Jill scenarios in 1.I don't feel like there's enough functional difference between them to shit on one in particular, but 3 is my favorite of the original trilogy so maybe I'm biased.
Sounds pretty similar to my experience. The boss fights as Leon were good but whenever Leon wasn't fighting a boss it kinda sucked. The Hospital is clearly where most of the development went too as there is a lot of effort into tying with the themes of 2s in there, 2 blind clones (marie and emily), 2 protagonists (grace and emily), 2 big knife doctors, 2 singers, 2 cleaning ladies, hunting knife wielders, 2 couples, 2 blind bloodsac zombies that 1 shot you, 2 nurses per surgeon, 2 surgery zombies, 2 halls, technically 2 chucks, 2 backup dancers etc. Outside of there being exactly one chef (unless the one you snipe outside is supposed to count as a second one like the attic chuck being different from the doctor's office chuck. Hell, there's even technically 2 optional cutscenes. 2 dolls you can examine... There's a few 3s here and there (like the gems you need for the door obviously), but for the most part the pairs theme of everything in the hospital is actually pretty sweet once you notice it. Also made the final puzzle a bit confusing for people for a bit which was also pretty nice. If Grace got access to molotovs or acid bottles sooner I think her combat would even be better since the deadly bottle and requiem/hemolite combat is pretty fun. Leon's combat is technically more fun at a base level, but nonboss enemies are far too weak to pose a threat, so whenever there's not a boss or miniboss the game's strategy is to just keep throwing shit at you and hope one of them lands. The bosses are also piss easy but they make the combat more of a spectacle, and also have a different strategy than shoot the head. It's instead orange blobby things, shoot the orange blobby things on the blister borne, shoot the orange blobby sac on the titan spinner, shoot the orange blobby heart on the super tyrant, shoot the orange blobby thing on plant 43 when it opens its gob, and finally shoot the orange blobby things on victor. The only boss this isn't true with is Chuck and hunk. Chuck at least is unique in that he's proportionally far larger than you so his head isn't in the same place, and hunk is primarily melee combat so you also don't technically shoot him in the head. Technically this is how Leon's been since RE4 mind you, but the enemies he faced in RE4 and 6 had a lot more variety. Also whenever one threw something at you they said "Uh, eat my asshole."Finished it. Felt the first half was great and the second half became somewhat of a slog after the Spider when reaching the hub center of RC. Motorbike section is stupid fun and the Ark part is eh. Hunk fight was okay, felt like it could been better in the setup to it and the fight was just a krauser fight in the end.
Zalbert is such a worthless character that came out of nowhere after the end of the first half, most of his scenes can be replaced, nothing would be lost and should of focused solely on Gideon. Emily somehow being fine after the Antiviral ending is so stupid. Leon stating that he never hit any vital spots is such an asspull and makes no sense. All it did was invalidate any meaningful weight that her death had.
Grace VA was brilliant. One of the best in the franchise IMO. The wailing she does is spot on what Grace would be going through after the traumatic shit that happened all of a sudden.
Also love the fact that the Blind Zombie who hates noise can one shot any enemy if you throw a glass bottle at the target you wanted whacked by him. This includes the Butcher and even Chuck. The pain of a migraine overrides any enemy's threat level.
3 was incredibly beloved at the time...? Games in the 90s were games first and foremost, and while I could see someone arguing for the first being the best, or more likely 2 being the best; among my friends, 3 was the game everyone replayed over and over. It was the game that you could play in a variety of different ways. You can deal with Nemesis how you want, you can return to previous locations visited, and find there's new enemies and items, etc. It is the most "sandbox" of an RE game we would get out of the mainline titles for a long time. Remember, Veronica came out and had some similarities in approach, but when they went to REmake and RE0, they had seemingly abandoned the direction they were taking the series in. At least until RE4 came out. Then that became the one everyone replays over and over.Eat more sloppy piggy. Don't have opinions, don't expect quality. Eat the slop. Marathon is a 10/10 game. RE9 is 11/10 because.. it just is okay? Try getting some standards and not just consuming modern garbage. You can't even refute anything said because it's all true and if you look into discussions online you will see the same things I'm saying every where. You have to make up a strawman to defend your million dollar company.
I was playing RE before you were born. This isn't the first time the series went to shit. There is a reason why RE7 was a complete reboot. 1-2 are good, 3 is a shit show. 4 reboots the series. 5 is good, 6 is a shit show. 7 reboots the series, 8 is good and 9 is a shit show. It's the RE cycle. And the only difference is they're remaking games instead of making spin offs. And most of those have been shit shows too. Remake 2 and 7 are the only good modern capcom games. The rest are just pure slop and you will notice they're the right games using that gameplay style before as always capcom shits the bed.
Not really, crapcom fanboys do this every single time a new game comes out: it's the best thing since sliced bread, and everyone who even slightly criticizes the new slop of the week is villified and attacked. Did you already forget how many of these retards claimed RE4R was not only superior to the original in every way but also invalidated it's existence and was a perfect 10/10?It's insane that retards on metacritic have rated Requiem higher than any other game in the series.
Even for people who like Requiem ITT you gotta admit that score is massively inflated.
I rarely pay attention to what most people on metacritic say so I never saw the discussions about RE4R, Consoomers are killing everything they attach their egos to. I just found out today about this whole "Requiem is the best thing ever!!!" Push. Honestly couldn't believe it at first. Not really, crapcom fanboys do this every single time a new game comes out: it's the best thing since sliced bread, and everyone who even slightly criticizes the new slop of the week is villified and attacked. Well, I still remember the insane amount of shilling RE4R got, to the point people coped that the original control scheme was "outdated" and needed to be replaced(RE4R one was inferior in every single way and barely played like RE4 of old). This isn't anything new.I rarely pay attention to what most people on metacritic say so I never saw the discussions about RE4R, Consoomers are killing everything they attach their egos to. I had no idea you could dodge shrapnel from a frag grenade until Leon demonstrated all you needed to do was time your backflips properly.I do prefer Leon and his spontaneous double backflips in 4 though
Don't forget the part where he started off his first day at work by showing up late. Real go-getter, that Leon Kennedy.Leon, he was destined originally to be a Cop for a medium sized city and nothing more, litearlly just patrolling around and pulling over drunk idiots, Chris was already a fucking ex-pilot and was vetted by Wesker because he excelled so much.
Leon would go on to become the worlds most well trained and prestigious Fed Glow-agent working directly under 2 Presidents to shut down B.O.W. terrorism and single handedly saving the Prez's daughter from a Cult (well with the help of a Chink Spy and a Heli pilot) in a story that would be so bombastic and lauded that Leon would be considered a living National Hero and every Federal Agent from then on would be talking about him.
Chris certainly stepped up, but he until 8 works under people as a Squad Leader, also people tend to die in his service, alot.
Not his main inspiration though, that was an Italian movie called 'Zombi'.Shinji has stated that George Romero's Dead Franchise and his previous game Sweet Home were inspiration.
Yea, RE4, RE Remake 2, and RE 1 REmake are the best "games" if you rate them entirely in a vacuum, Requim to me was better than 8, which was good but had too many sections I never want to do again and aren't fun. It's insane that retards on metacritic have rated Requiem higher than any other game in the series.

Shoot the legs has been the best RE tactic since 4. You can take off a leg reliably and they're easier to hit. I spent most of my leon play time using the SMG and shotgun to kneecap zombies. Turns out if you cut off 1 leg they just die. If only RPD had figured this out and used some lawn mowers. The bosses are also piss easy but they make the combat more of a spectacle, and also have a different strategy than shoot the head.
Check out the reviews for the Dreamcast edition. It's hitting 70s-mid 80s. Which for an RE title at the time was very low.3 was incredibly beloved at the time...? It's only RE3make that is trash.
What makes you think it's socially acceptable to defer to a games' journalist?Check out the reviews for the Dreamcast edition. It's hitting 70s-mid 80s. Which for an RE title at the time was very low.
Wasn't defering. Just posting some evidence of my claims that RE was getting stale within the market at the time. The review says the game is good, it's another RE and it's a bit better in every way. But Survival horror peaked at RE2 and got tiresome. REmakes graphics, and innovations like Crimson heads did a lot to bring the genre back into the public eye. Remake looked like the Final fantasy cut scenes everyone had been drooling over. But now it was playable. What makes you think it's socially acceptable to defer to a games' journalist?
Jokes aside, some of the greatest games of all time got retarded ratings from absolute niggers who didn't play more than an hour or two.
There's a bunch of reviews like this for Majora's Mask too.
I was joking about the journo thing, but survival peaked at RE2? ...Are you sure about that? The review says the game is good, it's another RE and it's a bit better in every way. But Survival horror peaked at RE2 and got tiresome.
