You have to realize people who want to create things want to make their own things, not just reiterate someone else's work. It's why we basically never get faithful adaptations.

Faithful adaptations don't exist because fans aren't allowed to be involved with movie creation in prominent roles. I cannot as a fan of Resident Evil, go to Hollywood and make a Resident Evil movie. The moment anyone finds out I'm a fan, I'm out. You are NOT allowed to be a diehard fan of anything in Hollywood that you are working on. Studios fucking HATE fans.

There was a leak earlier where Zach Cregger basically said this RE in name only, the movie was written a long time ago, and the Ip was just a marketing vessel.

Only One Piece, the one exception, the director is a fan and the owner and Author had tight control over the project, is it perfect? Fuck no

It's all about studio control. Fans fight studios and they'll often go over budget. If things go bad, fans always blame the studios. To the studio, there's no real incentive to hire a fan. It's easier to have someone more agreeable and just let them learn on the job. The project will come out MOSTLY just as good.

The only enemy that falls seemingly out of nowhere is the chainsaw chrysalid in Jake chapter 4 which we later learn came from ada roundhouse kicking it off a train.

Cregger had the movie conceived, planned, and mapped out before he had the RE IP and doesn't care about RE at all.

I don't know how, but with every new RE show or movie released, somehow the Paul Anderson movies look better and better.

Because, at their worst, the Paul movies were harmless fanfiction that were centered around a badass female but not a GIRL BOSS (there once used to be a difference between the two). They just told their own story and while they barely tried to adapt anything from the games, you felt still a "connecting tissue" between them, enough that you know these scripts were made from the start to be a "Resident Evil" film (even if it is just Paul's version of it).

The other adaptations? Lets see...

1- We got a very poor "adaptation" of RE1 and 2, with Lisa Trevor being there for some reason and acting like Claire's "buddy monster". Nvm that most of the males were mostly portrayed like idiots.
2- A somehow even worse In Name Only adaptation with an extremely confusing continuity, highly unlikely female characters, highly incompetent male characters and just a script that walks the very fine line if this was ever meant to be a R.E related anything at all. You know you are trash when even NETFLIX wasnt able to justify keeping you around beyond a single season despite being full of their modern day politics

And now we are going to be getting another In Name Only adaptation with surface level references at best. Maybe the movie will be able to be enjoyed on its own and thats all we fans can really hope for at this point.
