Why does Resident Evil 4 need a remake?
Because zoom zoom needs UpDaTeD GrApHiX and BeTtEr CoNtRoLs

Honest to god, just hire the HD Project guy and give him more money. BAM, there's your remastered game for RE4. No need for retcons, missing content or anything.

Honest to god, they should remake 6 instead to make it less of a mess plot wise. THAT game needs a remake, not 4.

I still dont get why Capcom hasnt made a proper PC port of the original trilogy in either Steam or Gog...
Because they would probably look like shit in unfiltered HD, REmake looks pretty bad at times in HD, the games were designed for the CRT era.

It is too bad though to think of them being abandoned, with 2 remake it does a good enough job and is in many ways superior to the original to where you're not missing out on too much as much I do also like the original RE2, but in the case of 3 the original is better than the remake.

I'm still mad about these games. I just wanted to be Hunk and friends going around murdering things.
I'm still salty about ORC: I think the idea of a co-op game featuring Umbrella Security Service goons trying to wipe away evidence and blowing away rogue BOW's and zombies is awesome. It's just that the gameplay and dumb story decisions let ORC's possible fun get destroyed.

If I were to do a sequel to ORC, I'd have it be a "Operations across time" deal; little self contained outbreaks or messes Umbrella wants dealt with, seperate from the main series. One big idea I've always had is a south american drug kingpin gaining access to a T-Veronica vial after Code Veronica and planning to use it to keep *Insert random SA city here* under his thumb. Obviously he doesn't realize the power he holds, and an outbreak occurs. HUNK and pals then go in and beat the shit out of this guy, fighting zombies, mutated bugs, imported Hunters and a bootleg as fuck Tyrant made from the kingpins experiments with T-Veronica.

Got REmake on steam sale recently. The tank controls are frustrating but you can adapt. The music is perfect, eerie and lonely. The graphics look great imo, more importantly it's aced time thanks to the pre-renders. The game's tense atmosphere is by far its best selling point, that and the jiggle physics gameplay loop. I'm enjoying seeing the core RE characters at their youngest in a non-boulder punch story. There's no convoluted city or nationwide crisis, it's just a spec ops team getting picked off in a mansion. So far it's above par survival horror, with a brutal save system, meaningful item management and actual puzzles. The game is basically 20 years old and some things in it remain photorealistic, like the light of a candelabra.

Some areas look fine or even great in HD, however I found a lot of rooms look more pixelated than their supposed to, this is especially noticeable in the underground tunnel areas.

I prefer the more consistent look of the GameCube version on a CRT, but of course that's not what most people have access to, so HD is fine.

There's an alternate control scheme if you don't like tank controls. But yeah, REmake is the best example of a remake there is. It updates the game and even adds new content without detracting from the original experience. It's one of the few game remakes I can think of that did pretty much everything right.

I don't know how they went from this to the RE3 remake, where they cut entire portions of the game out, and made the story, characters, and atmosphere worse than the original.

If these hacks just wrap an ISO with a PSX emulator, then no. Also one might be curious if they still have source code. If not then no way they gonna decompile and make a remastered version. Or reimplement from scratch.

Losing the source code is kind of a Konami move, I would dare to think Capcom is a bit more professional than that...(just a bit)

Remake? That game needs a near complete overhaul. So much wasted potential.

Slight quibble: Not so much new content, but adding in things that got cut from the original game.

Its obvious that Re4make is next in the pipeline. But personally Code Veronica would be a lot more interesting and has a lot more room for improvement.

You're not wrong that CV could use the improvement, but other than an HD release I don't think Capcom will ever do a true remake of it. The game, while it has it's fans, just didn't sell well enough to be anything more than a side-game in the RE series.

And given the current social climate, you know it'd be fucked.

Capcom reported being very happy with Re0 HD's sales. So I wouldnt right it off just yet.

And also if RE4 vr was censored due to some harmless lines, imagine what would happen to code Veronica. Imagine the outrage if twitter found out about the cross dressing freak line. Claire would be cancelled. Not Claire man. *sigh*

The question is: What was Capcom expecting from sales? I don't believe they had terribly high hopes for REmake0 so I suspect it didn't take too much to make Capcom happy. Couple that with the original CV's smaller sales than RE0 (IIRC) I just don't see a remake for CV happening.

You're not wrong that a remake could be good, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

Alfred would be changed to a masculine, gruff voiced, boring villain that hates his sister, Alexia would be a shy misunderstood genius who's life's work, originally going to be used for the purposes of curing diseases, was stolen from her, driving her mad, and Wesker is a misogynist.

You might think it's an exaggeration, let's remember, Capcom got the name 'Crapcom' for a reason.
