On a side note, I was really impressed with RE3's graphics the last time I played it, in fact it bums me out it's the only game in the series that looks like that, halfway between RE1 and RE2 and the hyper detailed pre-rendered backgrounds of REmake and RE0 and as much as I love those, there's a special charm to RE3's look that makes me wish it was utilized for at least one other game (like say maybe CV should have been that instead of fully 3D)

The Outbreak games also had a great graphics style that I wish was used for a single player game, Capcom was once at such a high creative peak with this series that they dropped no less than 3 graphical styles before they were really utilized to their fullest, it's just nuts.

In fact I say I wish CV had graphics like 3, but it's also interesting in it's own way that CV, much like 3, is a game in the series that looks like none of the others.

Resi always had the weirdest art style shifts; I think the Outbreak-to-4 era style was my favorite, 5's a close second if you cut out the green filter they plaster on everything.

On another side note, I've taken advantage of low prices and bought Revelations 1 on Steam. I'll provide my full thoughts on it later since I never really beat it before, only partially. Pretty excited since it's a Resi I haven't fully seen yet, and the first chapter has provided some good fun ("Me and my sweet ass are coming over!").

Its mostly alright the first time playing through. Second time the excessive backtracking and replaying of the same scenarios had me a bit bored, ngl. Also didnt like the weapon customization and lack of more physical attacks, but thats just me.

Most of its problems are due to the fact that it was originally made for the 3DS, so I can give it a pass.

I like the Revelations series of games. They sure do think they're smarter than they actually are though, as you can see with all the Divine Comedy quotes floating around in it. Rev 2 uses Kafka's Metamorphosis, which makes sense in that game, but the enemies in Rev 2 are not as good. I think that if REmake 2 played like the Rev games, I probably would have liked it.

Does anyone ever read on the original plans for RE 7? The one capcom intended before RE 6 nearly killed the franchise.

Apparently it would become Resident Evil May Cry with Jake being the new lead into the franchise's future. And it would have been, I shit you not, MORE insane than RE 6 SOMEHOW.

OG RE 7 never happened for obvious reason, the series went on a long hiatus until returning with the actual RE 7 and thank fuck for that. RE 6 showed that the franchise needed to stop, take a break and rethink its priorities before they got even more insane.

Part of me almost wants to see how that OG 7 would have been like tho...morbid curiosity.

RE 3 was just that style perfected at that point, they had two previous games worth of experience to show what they could do with it. It felt the most "cinematic" of the three, with quite a few of scripted sequences and more character interactions.

Me and my sweet ass are coming over!

Jill in a wet suit that highlights her sweet ass is one of the best things about the game, not gonna lie.

Revelations were the first "attempts" of Capcom to bring some horror back into the series without having to take the risk of making it into a main entry (They werent THAT despered...yet). It was so low risk they put it on the 3DS of all places. If it didnt work, Rev would just be that weird 3DS RE game that the fanbase would mostly ignore but it did pay off really well.

Tho I find it hilarious how Capcom ported Rev 1 on almost every console at the time so they can justify the sequel coming out on everything but the 3DS, what a dick move in retrospect.

Define 'insane'. As in Jake riding a robotic shark that can transform into a mechsuit while punching zombies with shotgun-knuckles as Sherri uses a bio-organic jetpack to do aerial combos on tyrant clones? Or just more far-fetched stuff about "The Family"?

If you think about it, if Capcom continued with the RE series like they were doing with RE6, then it would of just been a more "serious" version of Dead Rising. Considering they already tried that with DR3 & 4 I can't help but think it would of just completely crashed the series.

That's thanks to writer Dai Sato, know for writing for animes like Cowboy Bebop and Eureka Seven, he always has those kind of pretentious but fun references.

I hope they bring him back for a Revelations 3.

So they were going to use the original idea for RE4 that became Devil May Cry in the first place?

I don't think a game where you play as someone with Wesker style superhuman powers is necessarily a bad idea, but I'm glad they moved in a more horror focus direction, you're right that it would be still be interesting to see what that version of 7 would have been like, I wonder if they're considering doing something like that for RE9 with Rose Winters?

It's my favorite of the pre-REmake games even though the story is a bit weak and the final area is a bit weak (fuck that water table puzzle), but the Racoon city environments are gorgeous and a lot of fun to explore.

Oh yeahhhh.

It would be both, honestly, "The Family" was obviously setup as some sort of The Patriots equivalent of RE or something but they have been rarely referenced post RE6, so tis safe to assume we wont be hearing from them again (unless Capcom finds a way to bring them in a manner more fitting to their current style...then again, Capcom no doubt wants to avoid referencing RE6 as much as possible).
They were just this extremely vague organization meant to setup villains of future sequels in this over the top style, I doubt that Capcom had anything truly planned.

I say that RE 3 is a roller coaster of quality. When its good, its argurably the best stuff of the og trilogy, when it lacks, its argurably the worst.

Sounds more like Resident Evil Rising than Resident Evil May Cry. Not that I'm complaining.
"Wesker... how are you still alive?" "Nanomachines T-Virus, son."
"My skin hardens in response to physical trauma. You can't hurt me Jack Jake!"

At least the Paul Anderson films had better casting that somewhat resembled the game characters...fuck, look at this thing made me do, Im complimenting the Paul Anderson films!!
The Paul Anderson films were fun. Absurd honest fun. To the point where I would recommend anyone to at least watch the first 3 movies. This new one... I want to see it to laugh at it.

The only problem with Paul Anderson’s RE films is he shoehorn his waifu
At least Paul’s Jill is more accurate than this trashfire
