RE7 feels like a game that I'll never go back to. It feels like the pinnacle of "cinematic experience" games.

started playing resident evil 6 again with the intent of seeing it through to the end it just doesn't feel like a resident evil game though, more of an action game. I yearn for the return of the tank control, fixed angle games, could probably shit a ton out of them out now.
I need to try this fixed Camera Mod for the REmake2 because appearance wise it looks phenomenal.
For all I know there might be a lot of lousy jank but even then it shits on Capcom's claim that "OH WE LOVE FIXED CAMERA ANGLES BUT WE CAN'T BUILD THE GAME FOR IT."

I actually had a friend whatsapp me this. I think the aiming would be wierd though. Imagine how much space pre-rendered backgrounds would save

Enough! What did I just say? Forgive my MATI sperg meltdown, but the next one to quote me by recommending me nuRE shit gets to be beaten in the nards, even if anyone is joking about it.
Play resident evil resistance, it's really good

What you wanna play Resident Evil:Biohazard 7 which goes on steam sale freqeuntly. The game that changed the entire course of the series just to appeal to idiots like you who dont like 4-6? You should do that then its a good game.

Play Parasite Eve 2. It's arguably as good as a classic Resident Evil game.

Probably because it was directed by a guy who wrote the original Resident Evil.

So usual grifter dusk golem has claimed that re9 will be open world.
If true, holy fucking shit lmao. That’s a horrible idea. Resident evil only works as a linear game. You can’t make an open world resident evil. Probably not true though because this dude is a huge flip-flopper and bullshitter, and people still call him “reputable”.
The leaker is probably a tard. 8 was about as open world as a horror game can get and it was still very linear. I'm sure the information just isn't accurate. If they wanted to try an experimental open world concept, they should've done it with the 3 remake.

RE8 is a much more consistent game the doll house shouldve been a more traditional level though for the same reasons stated above, it doesnt have anything to do with resources, and its static so its just boring on repeat playthroughs. But at least its not the back half of the entire game.
The doll house sucks on repeat but I'm thankful they were smart enough to put it fairly early on in the game and it doesn't necessarily drag on too long. Now the DLC....that's entirely different story.

Lady D was blatant coomer bait same with her daughters, werewolves are something I expect to fight in Castlevania, Moroaica were wannabe zombies, Soldats were Dead Island Thugs, and Magnetic Lebowski seemed like a watered down Devil May Cry villain.
Despite all this though, 8 is pretty solid. It's a fun replayable game, and while it's not breaking any ground, it's pretty good. It's a solid upper mid tier title in the franchise. Sure it's gimmicky, but it never out stays it's welcome or drags on for too long. It's one of the better paced RE games. Mechanics are all pretty sound too. Honestly I thought 8 was pretty decent. I'm not a fan of the DLC, but that's neither here nor there.

Nah REmake4 is solid. Not a perfect game by any stretch, it didn't reinvent third person shooters like RE4 essentially did with the over the shoulder camera, but it's mechanically a satisfying game with lots of nice details.
Mechanically yeah, the game is fantastic. It's everything else about the game that people don't like. Including myself. The DLC patching in old missing content while well intentioned, probably had the opposite effect. I think 7 had the best DLC of these new era games and that's not saying much.

What baffles me is how they could get the castle section so wrong, it felt rushed and unfinished.
The castle section wasn't rushed imho. It was just that it was pitched as the primary setting for 8, and it isn't. So I think the real problem is that it's small. Smaller than anyone thought it would be. You go through the entire castle by the end of it. Very little other than the stuff about the dagger is actually unused. I think people just confuse their dissatisfaction over how short it is for it being unfinished.

I'm just saying, while R3make is terrible when compared to the original, it still isn't a bad a game objectively and you should give it a chance.

My gripe isn't that it's short, it's that it feels unpolished. The daughters randomly appearing out of nowhere was annoying but 80% of the time you were so close to the save room that it was easy to run in and there and wait for them to disappear. It didn't feel fully thought out. It also felt like an oversight that if you were caught on the upper floor of the main hall then you were going to get hit because it was a dead end and too tight to efficiently move past her(or hide).

The best part of the game were the village and surrounding areas and I would be happy if they figured out a way to do an open world:ish Resident Evil.

Design-wise its good but mechanically its a mess. The movement in all 3 remakes is a bit clunky the characters dont like turning in place and rotate in small circles. Also RE4make's aiming just doesn't work.

The original RE4's laser is the most important addition to the third person shooter, it removes any guess work or ambiguity that comes from the imperfect perspective. While many 3rd person shooters either cheat by allowing the character to shoot around corners, or dont do anything and your shots just inexplicably miss.

RE4's laser allows the game to not cheat while also telling you when your shot will be blocked by obstacles. MGS4/5 have dynamic crosshairs to tell you when this will happen. But RE4make doesnt do either, there is a laser attatchment but most guns cant use it and the crosshair flat out lies to you, and this wasnt a problem in the 2 or 3 remake so I don't get how it broke in 4.

It's not that it lies to you, it uses 2makes' system where you can move while shooting, but if you want accurate shots, you have to stand there and wait for the cross hairs to aim. Which is an entirely different problem.

2 doesnt use bloom for accuracy thats just for the "focus shot" mechanic. 4 has a new system and it doesnt work properly an enemy can take up the entire crosshair even when fully locked and itll still miss.

lol, chill and go play some RE4 Remake.

All of you are like

Seriously, what part of a simple phrase "I don't care about the franchise" do you not understand? I'm not coming back to it, that's it. It's over. Pure and simple. Go ahead and enjoy your RE games, I'm not coming back to them

Play resident evil gaiden on the gameboy it's good.
Unironically. The game's combat takes a little getting used to, but it's visuals and atmosphere are excellent.

No, I'd argue that's it's a bad game. Mechanically it works, but everything else just sucks ass. The only way anybody should be playing it is if they pirate it. Don't pay money for it, then after you pirate it and beat it demand Crapcom give you a 60$ refund.
