So usual grifter dusk golem has claimed that re9 will be open world.
If true, holy fucking shit lmao. That’s a horrible idea. Resident evil only works as a linear game. You can’t make an open world resident evil. Probably not true though because this dude is a huge flip-flopper and bullshitter, and people still call him “reputable”.
The leaker is probably a tard. 8 was about as open world as a horror game can get and it was still very linear. I'm sure the information just isn't accurate. If they wanted to try an experimental open world concept, they should've done it with the 3 remake.
RE8 is a much more consistent game the doll house shouldve been a more traditional level though for the same reasons stated above, it doesnt have anything to do with resources, and its static so its just boring on repeat playthroughs. But at least its not the back half of the entire game.
The doll house sucks on repeat but I'm thankful they were smart enough to put it fairly early on in the game and it doesn't necessarily drag on too long. Now the DLC....that's entirely different story.
Lady D was blatant coomer bait same with her daughters, werewolves are something I expect to fight in Castlevania, Moroaica were wannabe zombies, Soldats were Dead Island Thugs, and Magnetic Lebowski seemed like a watered down Devil May Cry villain.
Despite all this though, 8 is pretty solid. It's a fun replayable game, and while it's not breaking any ground, it's pretty good. It's a solid upper mid tier title in the franchise. Sure it's gimmicky, but it never out stays it's welcome or drags on for too long. It's one of the better paced RE games. Mechanics are all pretty sound too. Honestly I thought 8 was pretty decent. I'm not a fan of the DLC, but that's neither here nor there.
Nah REmake4 is solid. Not a perfect game by any stretch, it didn't reinvent third person shooters like RE4 essentially did with the over the shoulder camera, but it's mechanically a satisfying game with lots of nice details.
Mechanically yeah, the game is fantastic. It's everything else about the game that people don't like. Including myself. The DLC patching in old missing content while well intentioned, probably had the opposite effect. I think 7 had the best DLC of these new era games and that's not saying much.
What baffles me is how they could get the castle section so wrong, it felt rushed and unfinished.
The castle section wasn't rushed imho. It was just that it was pitched as the primary setting for 8, and it isn't. So I think the real problem is that it's small. Smaller than anyone thought it would be. You go through the entire castle by the end of it. Very little other than the stuff about the dagger is actually unused. I think people just confuse their dissatisfaction over how short it is for it being unfinished.
Enough! What did I just say? Forgive my MATI sperg meltdown, but the next one to quote me by recommending me nuRE shit gets to be beaten in the nards, even if anyone is joking about it.
I'm just saying, while R3make is terrible when compared to the original, it still isn't a bad a game objectively and you should give it a chance.
