With that jawline, my guess is either Leon or Wesker.
I really think all answers are valid. Could be another Outbreak character like Kevin or David. We haven't seen those characters in twenty years in universe.

I kinda want it to be Billy. Or to be involved in this game in some form.

Im interested that they brought the government zombies plotline back. They tried to do it in the Netflix tv series infinite darkness, but after a strong start they they shit the bed at the end. Billy was actually supposed to be the villain in that, but they wisely cut him out.

Ok the trailer was cool. I am very intrigued. Trailer gives the implication that the open world rumors might be true, and we can free roam around the ruins of raccoon city. Im curious to see how they try and pull it off and keep the game well paced and scary.

But there is a lot of confusing stuff. Is the hotel in the ruins of raccoon city? Why do we see shots of an undestroyed city street? Is the torture scene some sort of flashback or I wonder if the main girl gets kidnapped to start the game. I will play it because I am a fan of the series but I am sceptical of some of this stuff. Village had cool vibes didnt really nail the execution so I hope this one gets it right.

Also I appreciate how capcom drops a trailer for a game half a year before it comes out. February seems fairly close.

Evil Within 2 tried the whole open world approach and while it was generally a very flawed game, I think there's potential in it.
You know, I played both those games and its strange how I hardly remember anything from them... Although I do remember the final boss from 2 dissolving into a giant puddle of thick white goo when defeated on account of that coming across as the writer's barely disguised fetish.

Chris If Leon dies in this

They'll add in a special hunk mode where Chris has to reach Leon's body in time and extract his balls Israeli style.

I didn't get to finish it due to a borked save file but the first time the goo monster showed up it legit scared the shit out of me.

Evil within 1 had a lot of flaws with the one hit kills. lt was decent but nothing to write home about. The thing I enjoyed most about it was how expressive Sebastian's face was. Its very Clint Eastwood in how he's trying to hold it together the whole game and I loved it.

2 I genuinely think is the best open world horror I've ever played, but again I didn't get to finish it. Appreciated how it rewarded you for clearing out the map of monsters and got inventive with the inception setting.

Ngl, I got hyped when I saw the remains of the police department. I'm cautiously looking forward to this one.
An actual well done Outbreak 1+2 remake would be great. Lots of good characters and locations in those games.
I'd buy a well-done Outbreak remake just for zoo section alone. All the zombie animals were so cool in the original.

Man a few months ago we were talking about how cool it'd be if they made a game set in post-nuke Raccoon City and it appears they're planning on it. Maybe those motherfuckers read this thread? [Doubt, but it would be amusing, clearly this has been in the pipeline for a while]

But yeah I am cautiously optimistic. Anything harkening back to Outbreak piques my interest.

Literally why? The GameCube RE1 remake looks and plays great to this day.

What an incredible waste of resources.
What they should remake is Code Veronica and make Alfred a tranny and go full on parody levels have him try to skin walk Claire. DEI is dying and no one cares about the LGBT anymore a smart business would hop onto white boy summer early.

Based on RE4make if they do remake Code Veronica they'll strip out all the goofy silly shit like the crossdressing and Steve's incredibly stupid looking gold plated desert eagle because no fun allowed.

To be fair, CV is goofy even compared to games that predate it.

Doesn't Capcom have a literal tranny on the payroll?

Perfect have him voice tranny Alfred don't tell him about the character at all. In fact don't tell anyone and have the influencers act as your free marketing as they seethe about the perfectly accurate display of trans representation. The drama merchants will spread the world and you give yourself a nice big bonus that would have been wasted on marketing.

Then close your US based headquarters and relocate it back to Japan as it does nothing, but make the company worse just like Square Enix.

I'm surprised people are fairly optimistic about RE9, first half of the trailer was a somewhat cringe snoozefest and the rest was random shit happening. Reboot this series already.

Capcom hasn't shown the best care with the continuity of the series with plot points being dropped from game to game (what happened to Rose lol) but this game is t he perfect opportunity to do basically a finale to the entire series and cap things off. Then RE 10 can either be a full blow reboot re imagining or just begin a new story in the same continuity with all new characters

But given Capcom track record it will have nothing to do with the rest of the series and Jill will show up as a 10 second cameo at the end and nothing will be resolved.

Nakanishi games(Rev and 7) usually are sorta respectfull about the lore , try to made shine older underused character and brings the horror and resource management. The biggest problem are the enemies being boring and damage sponge and bad pacing.
You can see how Village is the writer of 7 becoming the director because thet throw away everything 7 did right Gameplay wise while not knowing what to do, so you have 4- but worse, 7-but worse and even shit sections like the baby or the Factory.
I also think the racoon City part is going to be the last section and a huge part isngoing to be in an hotel in the forest.

Thats a real good point. There seems to be a huge disconnect between the hotel areas and the destroyed raccoon city. The hotel looks old but intact. Maybe there is essentially another mansion in the the Arklay forest but this one is a bed and breakfast (with a underground bio weapons lab OFC)

Capcom: *includes the daughter of a RE Outbreak protagonist in their newest game*
Also Capcom: *refuses to fucking remake or remaster the outbreak duology on modern systems*

Also, I will share here my take on the trailer.

I know that the "RE engine trilogy" have been kind of all over the place in terms of what they are about, we had mold, little girls, big milfs, vampires and werewolves but you know that there might be something wrong if, until they showed the remains of R.C, that I thought this was a trailer for Evil Within 3.

At least with the RE7 and 8 trailers I could say "yes, this is RE" from almost the get go but this one legit seems like an original thing until the obvious signs began to appear

Oh and fuck you if you say you recognized the female lead as the daughter of one of the Outbreak protagonists from the get go, you are lying. But I digress

After its clear that Ethan isnt coming back, they kind of need to make up a new lead and you'd think she is a new original like the former but she does have a connection to a pre-existing character so it seems Capcom is going for a middle ground approach. We'll see if she will be a good lead.

Ultimately, its too early to say anything yet.

Well... They might have already figured out who the man in the hood is.

LEON HAS T VIRUS AIDS!

It seems like they are really going for a punished Leon storyline with him going after the government glowies and the "family" alluded to in RE6.

One interesting thing I noticed from the promotional materials is that they are promoting this game as horror first, and action secondary. So it doesn't look like we are going to get a traditional RE hero setup. They seem to want the action even more limited then 7. Also the time frame seems to be after 8 but before the Rose DLC, so she's 9 years old while everybody else is in their 50's.
