He said the same thing about RE4 remake and look how that turned out.
Well I'm not a 4R ballwasher by any stretch, but I do think it was a decent attempt and better than both 2R and 3R combined. While there is some stupid characterization in it and Ada's "actress" is fucking horrifying, the biggest problems in the game is the gameplay and that's what everyone loved about the first one. Making it play more realistic, makes it play shittier.

He still ended up disappointed and saw the remake as a unnecessary cash-grab.

The gameplay was one of the main issues. While he thought the new knife combat was good, Leon movement was sluggish and would always response a second too late.

I don't hate 4 remake, but then at the same time, everytime I'm like "yeah I'll do a second playthrough" I just don't. I don't hate the gameplay, I thought it was fine, but it lacks any sauce, if you will.

The systems and sluggish movement hold it back. It's straight up not as fun to play as the original game.

There's an autist on YouTube who made a 16 fucking hour spergout about everything wrong with re4 remake that successfully points out most things that feel wrong about the game even compared to re2. I can say it in far less time. Game is inoffensive to the masses but offensive and insulting to gamers and auters, and a pale imitation of an industry landmark title.

The knife system is unfinished and fucktarded when you break it down. Most of the game was passed by Indian QA testers or people who just said yes to everything. Leon moves slower than the original counterpart, dodging grabs is nigh impossible and you get no chances to parry them, which rears it's ugly head on Professional which is what the YT sperg judged the game on. I think it's fair to see what's wrong with the game balance on a difficulty for veterans. Even on normal, headshots do Jack shit and the game operates on an RNG system for your gunshots. So what's the point of physical projectiles if they don't work half the time? It leads to unsatisfying gameplay that gets stale fast compared to the original.

Aiming is encouraged because the game has obscure info in tips that it increases critical shot/stun chance... Only by a margin that barely matters lmao. but you can't quickfire. Knife durability is inconsistent because spamming knife attacks degrades it less than using the critical attacks, 5 slashes is usually all it takes. It's all just resource bloat instead of quality shooting which is what the remake should have been about. Now Leon has Parkinson's and moves like an old man, when in Requiem it already looks like he's moving faster.

Devs don't know how to balance for shit anymore. All of this plays worse than RE2 which already has a decent knife system. It's just a gimmick to market the game around and appeal to knife only spergs. People who play the game a lot or datamine only realize what's actually wrong.

I think you're talking about this dude.

People shit on this dude, and I think it's very misguided. He masterfully explains why RE4 OG still holds up today.

Inertia fucking SUCKS in these games. As pointed out above, the sluggish slow to respond movement makes you feel like you're running through mud when you need to change directions.

I've seen that dude but he's a worse sperg and a faggoty contrarian by all means, he's one of those /mu/ tier snooty gamers who thinks being hardcore makes him better while he strokes kojimas balls and whatnot. Most videos Electric Underground makes is for aesthetic or whining.

No this guy made a more recent one and seems like an actual RE fan. Everything is explained and timestamped, despite the heavy use of buzzwords. Honestly the best video done on the game to me since it goes into all faults of what makes the game feel like dog shit.

They reuse animations from revelations but never sped them up to match the pace. Simple hacking and altering numbers in the code can fix the experiences aside from design pitfalls. Forcing realism into the games was a massive mistake on top of censoring the games for being too scary after 7 and 2. Like who the fuck thought 7 was so scary that 8 had to be toned down?

I stand corrected. This dude is as intensely autistic as Silent Hill fans can be.

So it sounds like there's no collectors edition for Requiem because of the tariffs, which is why the statues are coming out later in the year. Funny how the 30th anniversary release is coming out with a whimper and not a bang. Although, I stopped buying that CE slop after 2R.

Buddy I live in a small town, Racoon City, just with Re 2 and 3 has the trappings of a big city in a small package, which makes sense, Umbrella made it big.
No real small quiet town would have a clock tower that opulent same with the RPD

I won't fault you for not knowing intricate details about a town in bumfuck Missouri, but you're mistaken. As for the RPD, it's just the mansion 2.0 but makes no sense in any version of the game. It's a re-purposed museum that doesn't have a single toilet. Incidentally, here's the Stone Chapel Clock Tower in Springfield, Missouri and Saint Michael's in RE3 for comparison.

No idea who that is and I'm glad I stopped watching streamers almost a decade ago.

I dunno why they bothered adding item storage to the type writers. It's so pointless. All of the fun campiness of the original has also been sucked out.

I imagine nothing will be done to pay tribute to the classics which kind of defeats the purpose of a 30 year anniversary. Do the concerts even have music from the original trilogy?

They could've gone ham with the different attache cases dropping different items and feels pretty useless.

I was thinking about those concerts and I really doubt they're going to do anything beyond play shit from the third generation of the series (RE7-4R)

It's not possible for me to be less interested in RE9. It should be the jumping off point for the next evolution of the series since we had 5 games in 6 years that look and play the same yet keep getting shittier.

Looks like the people who initially made RE Engine interesting with re7 and re2 are no longer around. They should bring back MT Framework or make it available to the public but they won't sadly.

I think it's really cool RE4 remake can run about 60fps on my PS4 but it's not worth the extreme sacrifice in texture resolution and absurd texture load in times. I literally had to come back on an analysis object for it to eventually turn into its proper detailed form compared to re7 and re2.

With the new age of the over the shoulder games in the series, it got worst immediately with RE5. It still plays great, but instead of leaving the character locked in tank controls, you can strafe walk. Which in and of itself is fine. It was the first steps to the slop that would be in 4R. As much as people shit on 6, it's very similar to 4R but it's no where near as jank and bullets go where you aim.

IIRC Crowbcat also made a video shitting on some of the RE4 cuts and changes which didn't really need to be made, video was titled something like "soul vs. soulless" and of course modern RE fanboys were sperging the fuck out in the comments. Capcom seems to have an extremely dedicated base of ballwashers who will defend ANY old slop that falls out of their asses - sort of reminds me of Kojima in a way.

One thing I don't like is fucking with character motifs.
Leon's motifs are navy/policemen blue, and wolves, and the Desert Eagle, which is attributed to him in every game he's in..

Now he's got a revolver and a watch with crow wings on them, and he's not wearing any of his signature color.
This is also the case for Chris as well, he went from being known for his forest green motif and sort of ex-Air Force aesthetic to just wearing straight black now.

He had it in one game and one movie.
ya know, I somehow completely swapped the Killer 7 from a 1911 to a Desert Eagle in my mind because.. why would a .45 be this massive handcannon in game that buck breaks Leon's wrists.
and this image is burned in my mind too from RE2 so that's probably why I associate the gun with him.
