Just beat the final boss. I'm deeply amused that you can just flawlessly perfect parry this giant fucking monster like it's Sekiro or some shit and he's just completely powerless and can't do shit to stop you.

The parry is just way too fucking op.

Just played it. Its less RE9 and more REV3 crossed with Evil Within. The story is fine in the beginning, but incredibly shlocky towards the end that makes it feel more in line with Rev 2/RE0/Code Veronica. If RE 7 and 8 were gothic horror, 9 leans way more into the grindhouse. Which makes me a little sad, I was hoping for more of that 2000s era cinematic feel the outbreak games had.

Gameplay hasn't really improved all that much if anything, having to switch characters flattens the progression and makes it so choices dont matter as much as they should. Otherwise its just 8 again. The enemies even behave like the lycans always ducking and weaving like this is fucking dodgeball, with a shitty crimson head mechanic bolted on to boot. Stealth is vastly buffed though, or I should say enemy awareness was nerfed. Weapon variety, especially for Grace, is a major weak point. Enjoy handgun, handgun, big handgun, throwable. Leon is a bit better but if you arent shit at the game his sections are so quick you dont get to enjoy it much.

Lots of callbacks to older games. Some of them are good (Leon deals with a zapping system in his sections) some of them suck (the water carrier statue from 1 is copy pasted everywhere, one of the bad guys is a wesker clone. Again.) some of them are wasted opportunities (I really wish Leon's operator was Ashley instead of Sherry.)

Overall its harmless, but not worth 70 bucks. Only major problem is that the story is a straight ripoff of FF7 advent children (at least crib notes from a good movie), the zombies don't feel like zombies and talk too fucking much, and also the uh...

Ok, what is up with little girls and Resident Evil lately? Rev 2, Re2 remake, RE3 remake, RE7, RE8, and now RE9. RE2make gets a pass I guess, but there must be a quota or something because they just keep adding them...

Oh, and there are a weirdly disproportionate amount of black zombies. Like, a good third of the zombies I've killed are straight from a childish Gambino music video. Stealth confirmation for the RE5 remake maybe?

It makes me sad knowing that that one part in the original RE5 was where the infected niggers are literally spearchucking and running around in grass skirts yelling ooga booga will 100% get cut from the inevitable remake because that part makes me kek everytime I play that game.

I think it's pretty undeniable the Ashfords had some type of connection with Nazi Germany. They have a Tiger tank for example.

I played through it not long ago and it still shocks me Capcom had the fucking balls to show them that way.

I saw a clip recently and it was Sam Hyde and co. watching the trailer talking about how everyone saw it as racist. Sam's like "it's just footage of black people acting normal."

While I wanted more in 2R's lab. It didn't overplay it's hand but the main shaft is fucking retarded. Ark is essentially bloated and worthless except for a few vials of Elpis that could've been held in a refrigerator.

Retconning Spencer, the guy that experimented on women and children for decades in pursuing immortality suddenly is the secret good guy. Fuck Capcom.

It was supposed to be like that originally, Spencer was supposed to be either a Nazi scientist himself or related to one.

Code Veronica actually has a fuck ton of Nazi iconography in it including swastikas.

Evil Nazi scientists were pretty played
out even back them so I don't blame Capcom for dropping that plot point.
 
Finally finished the game. Overall I'd say it's 7/10 gameplay with a 8/10 coat of paint. Outside of the vendetta motorcycle shenanigans, I could pretty much guess everything that would happen besides a few confusing story beats. I think the second half of the game was stronger than the first (excluding the orphanage flashback).

The 'enemies are puzzles' shtick they wanted to do for Grace felt much more refined with a clearer set of rules. Although blood was lacking I never felt short on resources because the solutions were always simple enough to understand on the first go.

The RPD and beyond wasn't a retarded ass mess of set pieces and fun killing random ass mechanics yes I'm going to die hating the mortars section. It's retarded in both concept and gameplay. Why have a triple mortar system that can only aim a max of one rooftop? How are zombies able to operate them? Why would they not just fire them off until the building collapsed if they do their last task mindlessly? I thought the lickers were going to be a problem but it turns out you can just instantly kill them so lol lmao. Same with being able to parry the final boss. Not going to comment too much on the story because of spoilers but the amount of stuff that falls into place because Grace took a big chug of dumb bitch juice in the morning is a bit wild.
 
I feel like eventually Capcom is going to have to address the number of humanoid B.O.W.s walking around.

Again, I think Spencer did it to ruin everyone else involved with T-Virus and affiliated viruses efforts, Spencer was evil, but he was a dry practical sort of evil, he wanted results, namely, transhumanism for all, and especially himself, and he clearly knew he wasn't going to get it, despite putting like 50 years into the project, because everyone involved started backstabbing.

Also, Billions? maybe, totally, all T and G Virus related deaths, has hit in the upwards of 20-50 million in the 30 years since the outbreaks started, a massive toll, but billions isn't even close.
 
is it bad that I was ok with the resident evil 2 and 4 remake? the combat on 4 was a little bit eh but 2 was okay for me, I wished that 3 was longer as it took way too short of a time to complete, I havent gotten around to playing the originals as I just wanted to try and ease into the series a bit without having to look at playstation graphics idk maybe im retarded but should I go back to the originals to try them out? any recommendations or anything?

Jake is pretty decently weaker than Wesker (on account of not having his experimental virus but instead seems slightly empowered by the C-Virus and general good genetics), not exactly a threat.
I'm not sure Sherry can go full CLaw and Eyeballs at will, but maybe? she's likely like Alexia and can fully control what she is, but doesn't embrace it.

Rosemary is legitimately a walking apocalypse, the strongest B.O.W. ever recorded the only one to ever be a World Ender and also fully sentient too.

Natalia is just a regular girl with a copy of Alex Wesker in her head, I guess she has virial knowledge but likely the two minds will forever cancel each other out.
 
I'm just hoping they don't haul out another Kpop Wesker for every new entry. Def anticipating RE Avengers to basically be the game plan going forward though.
