imagine Umbrella hired an Indian CEO and fired all the competent researchers/executives like Birkin, Marcus, Ashford etc. replaced them with other Indians and the whole raccoon city incident was averted because of their incompetence.

to be autistic, the outbreaks only happened because of Ashford, Marcus and Birkin's incompetence, Wesker was the one sane man who dipped out ASAP with all the relevant data and viruses.

Oh and Spencer, he was also competent but surrounded by Machiavellian assholes, he was evil as fuck but he never desired mass casualties, he really thought he could sacrifice a few human lives to uplift humanity and himself to God status.

Ashford was a retard who bankrolled the affair, smart enough to start on some things but his attempt to clone his genius ancestor bore one genius and one retard who royally fucked him, and his holdings and their family lineage up.

Marcus was incompetent in that he didn't see the company coming to clean his ass out at all, he then had a psuedo-second lease on life and decided to start one of the greatest biological disaster events in history out of pure spite and tard rage.

Birkin seeing this, somehow failed to see the same event coming for his ass and literally 4 dudes with sub machine guns waltzed right into the secret base and just shot his ass, he then tipped the biological event into unsalvagable levels with his tard rage and G-Steroid fueled revenge, MIND YOU, by that point so much virus leakage had already occured that Raccoon city was FUCKED, but it really got out of hand quick with him.

Man can you imagine being Oswald E. Spencer, chilling in Europe in your mega mansion, doing w/e degen shit he does all day, waiting for the egghead nerds to make you into a god, and one day he wakes up, and hears all of Raccoon City, who he put Birkin in charge of, has gone to complete shit and the people he put in charge of the company are dropping B.O.W's on the city to get combat data, and its just a complete unsalvagable shitshow, all of its got your 50 year company's name written all over it, its truely fucking over.

I thought Re9 was ok, I ended up liking it in the end.

However, this game now says that Spencer was suffering dementia in his old age. So now his "Right to be a God!" speech is something that he drolled out in a dementia addled stupor when he was confronted by Wesker.

It kinda sucks the grandiose Shakespeare like drama out of the Man meets God moment with how Wesker literally wets his hands with the blood of his maker and assumes his throne.

Now it seems more like he just got frustrated talking to a wrinkled potato and just killed him because he was useless.

this is all still true, Spencer lays out Wesker's entire life in meticulous detail, the entire reason he set out as a young man to find a way to become immortal is still core to is character.

dementia or not, he was quite lucid with Wesker.

Well sure, but the man Allysa Ashcroft was interviewing seemed nothing like the growling old lion in his wheelchair we saw in Re5. Not saying it's nonsense or breaks canon, it just kinda deflates things for me.

On a side note, since Sherry has to take a dose of Elpis for her T-Virus infection does that mean she is gonna lose her healing factor the G-Virus gave her? Makes me think they wanted to nerf her so she can be used in a more grounded game in the future.
 
I liked the game besides the giant fucking spider (I do not like spiders at all and wish the game had an arachnophobia filter like Monster Hunter does).

But FUCK is replaying it tedious between the intro and orphanage parts. Why can't we skip this shit on a ng+ mode or something.


Edit: also am I retarded or did they not even mention Zeno by name until like right before the end. What was his deal anyways, he just kinda showed up and said some shit then didn't matter at all?

no, the G-Virus fundamentally changed her DNA and combined with it, the vaccine she got got rid of the active virus in her, basically it was incorporated into her genome.

regardless, I doubt Elpis targets the G-virus, it is far and away evolved out of the T-Virus branch, it seems even terrorists aren't keen on using it, it doesn't really make for a good "weapon" by itself anyways, since it just makes one unkillable unstoppable "thing" that even a cleanup crew would likely struggle with.

To be fair to Birkin, if that one guy from HUNK's team wasn't such a trigger happy idiot, or they made sure Birkin was stone dead, then there wouldn't of been a G-virus outbreak.

True, but they should of double tapped. I'd say the blame for the G-virus outbreak is just as much on them as it is on Birkin for having a fairly justified crash out.

I think the faggot/tranny that was in charge of R&D and Safety, Duvall, probably deserves some of the blame as well.

In RE: Dead Aim, we're introduced to Morpheus D. Duvall, a former Umbrella head with an obsession with "beauty"; so much so, that he was heavily disliked by the company for focusing exclusively on his own obsessions and not on his job. More specifically, the guy had a leadership position in both R&D and safety inspection; however, Duvall neglected both of those in favor of using Umbrella's resources in an effort to make himself "beautiful". Due to being surprisingly influential in the company, the Umbrella heads couldn't just sack the guy; however, after the Arklay Mansion incident (RE1), which was partially caused by negligent safety measures, the company had an excuse to terminate him.

At any rate, he's also partially responsible for Umbrella being unable to cover their legal fees following the Raccoon City incident; basically, Umbrella was holding a bunch of private auctions on cruise ships to try and sell various B.O.W.s to generate some quick cash flow. Trying to cover legal fees, basically; Duvall caught wind of this, stole some T-Virus samples from one of Umbrella's labs in Paris, France, and proceeded to kill/infect everyone on board these ships as payback for being fired. He then proceeded to turn himself into a female Tyrant, and decided to blow up both the U.S. and China with bioweapons to kill all of the "ugly people" and have only "beautiful people" like himself remain.

Granted, it was never directly confirmed whether or not his continued theft of Umbrella funds and general negligence of his safety management duties really contributed to the disasters - he was implied to be a scapegoat for the Mansion, at least - but it would certainly line up.

Such is the way of things when it comes to stories warped into franchises.
Story has a beggining, middle, end, core themes and consistent narrative.
Franchises take a piss on all that and each new installment is stapled to the greater whole without rhyme or reason.
New lore tidbits recontextualize everything before it rather than flesh it out and the only thing that matters is the newest installment.
I used to wonder why ZUN said only latest touhou games are canon but now I understand why.
Writers these days subtly admit that they rather write settings rather than continious narratives to have maximum creative freedom.
Sort of like Warhammer 40k universe where it's setting first and it's main purpose is to give lorefluff to the board game.
It makes sense when you think about it.
You commit to a saga where everything is planned out but halfway through the consumer interest wanes and your budget is wearing thin.
Something needs to change to bait people back into paying attention. If continious narrative is getting in the way then there's only one way it can end.
Turns out literary rules and principles work best for a series of books and not multi-media franchises than span for decades and often outlive its original creators and their ideas they had at that time.
Who would've thought...
