Thread moved so fast since 9 came out so apologies if it's been mentioned or done to death but I think the game could have worked if they had just hard split the scenarios formally from the menu and lengthened both of them.
Grace's first section in the clinic I thought was really good and tense for a bit before you're able to craft more bullets than you'll ever need. Really enjoyed Leon's sections because it was fun playing more RE4. I also really liked exploring the city and wished that had been a proper big open world too but what we got wasn't that far off all things considered.
I think what made it frustrating was the abrupt switches between the two and giant gaps between one and the other. Definitely felt like they didn't commit to or feel convinced by what they had and ran out of time or money and just shoved two disparate stories together. And/or they were worried that one was better than the other and would alienate people but based on what you guys are saying it sounds like that happened anyway.
Also, my final play time was ~10hrs and I thought I was being super thorough and backtracking a ton, so when the credits rolled I felt a bit peeved at the slight lack of content. At least it's selling well that we won't have to worry about the Capcom corpos shelving the series or doing some drastic retarded reboot. Looking forward to being disappointed/impressed in new and different ways down the line, hopefully on a yearly basis.
Overall, happy with the game and I'll go back and try to get the unlocks and achievements and what not, but it definitely could have been a bit more than what we got ultimately and if/when it comes out (maybe it already has) that they didn't have time/energy/heart to make two fully fleshed out scenarios for one game, I won't be surprised at all.
