RE9 has some of the worst writing in the series. The entire first arc makes no sense and you have to ignore the entire world and common sense to put Grace any where near that hotel.
Yeah there's definitely a problem with the Grace character at it's core because the idea that she has anything to do with any of this is so far fetched. Yes she's super cute and all that but an FBI investigator they send solo into the hotel where her mom died? I'm not expecting high art from a Capcom game's writing, but that's much worse than normal.

Later on in the game you find a bunch of documents indicating that The Connection are basically HYDRA and have control over large parts of the U.S government. I've seen some people speculate the FBI was compromised and Grace's boss sent her there on purpose knowing Gideon was there waiting for her.

How do you kill chunk with grace? I thought only Leon could kill him with the shotgun?

Women the biggest hypocrites of the world bar none.
Three hemolytic injectors will put him down, the charm you get is not even remotely worth the wasted resources but you do get a rare trophy I believe so if that's your thing.
If you have an empty glass bottle and you're near the blind zombie carrying the IV thing, you can throw it at Chunk and the zombie will actually one hit chunk.

It's on PS2. Remember RE4 was gamecube exclusive, as was remake. PS2 port of RE4 was stripped down and used recordings of the gamecube game for FMV. The PS2 CV had additional content over the DC edition. DC may have got it back ported but it was never released in English except a fan translation
I only really "know" the PS2 version of CVX but even I know it's kinda shitty, I mean it's playable to me because that's how I remember it looking so it doesn't bother me, but looking at a side-by-side of that version next to the Dreamcast version, the latter definitely looks so much fucking better. The PS2 release has so much fog and for whatever reason it's super fucking dark, too. I remember when I'd play it on the tube I'd have to turn the brightness settings as high as they would go and fuck with the contrast, then the few bright environments in the game look all washed out and shit, especially once you get to Antarctica, that Nosferatu/Alexander boss fight looks like shit on those settings. And apparently when they later ported it, they worked off of the PS2 version.

Also the first Alexia/Wesker encounter in the Dreamcast version kinda makes Wesker look like a bitch, he's legit getting tossed around like a fucking ragdoll by her. Although, it does work in the framing of the plot, since Alexia/the T-Veronica virus is supposed to be the latest and greatest in B.O.Ws so it wouldn't really make sense for Wesker to kick her ass, after all, if it was nothing special, why the fuck would Wesker be looking for a sample of it anyway? It was so sought after that he had to haul Steve's corpse away, apparently. Even hinting that he might bring him back - which, to bring Steve fucking Burnside back, Wesker must be pretty hard-up for that sample to put up with that whiny Canadian motherfucker as a research subject. I also always thought that first Alexia boss fight was kind of anti-climactic - the cutscene makes her look like she's going to fucking wreck you, and she does have a one hit KO attack if you get too close to her [I can't remember if it's dependent on your health or not, maybe if you're in 'Fine' health she can't do that?] but all you really need to do is dump a few shotgun rounds in her and she hits the floor like a sack of potatoes. I remember thinking 'that's it? she's gonna get back up, right?', and she just... doesn't.

Anyway, point being, the PS2 version of CVX kinda looks like ass and it looks even more like ass on LCD screens given that so many of the environment's are pitch black, and reproducing true blacks is one of the things LCDs are still pretty bad at unless it's OLED. And it still looks like ass to me even though for me, that is the "definitive" version since it's the only one I ever played myself.

You can also weaken Chunk with 1 or 2 of those injections and finish him off with Requiem if you want to. I just killed that fat slob so I can run more freely through the corridors. But yeah the injectors might be more useful in other sections considering that head shots that blow the head off are damn rare

I think it's typical resident evil contrived storytelling. Remember that RE4 had the US government sent one agent with a 9mm pistol and a leather jacket to rescue the presidents daughter.

Both of these examples could have been fine by coming up with some in universe justification. Like in RE9 Grace demands to go to the hotel for the sake of her own personal closure, then have her supervisor bend some rules (or look the other way) in order to allow it. It still wouldn't justify sending one agent alone to a darelict building when falling through a floor or being stabbed by a bum is a real possibility. Especially with the potential for a infection/outbreak being casually mentioned by the one cop posted outside the place. Realistically the whole building would be cordoned off and Victor would just get tazed and arrested by like 20 cops.

In RE4 they could have had the Spanish government forbid the operation and refuse to investigate it themselves, possibly due to government blackmail/infiltration by the cult. Leon's mission is then off the books and officially unsanctioned, which would make his lack of support believable.

Another notoriously dumb moment would be the police officer in RE7. Everything about that exchange is retarded and would never happen.

But I could go on. I basically view resident evil as some bizzaro parody of our world where this retarded stuff that would never happen in the real world is just common place.

I think I'm one of the few that thought 7 was pretty dumb all around. 8 even more so.
I didn't absolutely hate them, and 7 going back to being more focused on horror was nice, but I'm also 100 percent fine with it if Ethan Winters is never mentioned ever again.

That would ruin it. It's a secret that a Mexican cult has infiltrated the highest levels of US government, and Leon was in fact a bad enough dude to rescue the President's daughter.

Besides, in the world of Resident Evil bioweapons sites it actually does kind of make sense. I don't know if it's explicitly stated anywhere in the series, but there is a very obvious precedent that whoever calls the shots for the US Gov, does not use actors in BOW sites who have not already been exposed to BOWs. Now, some of that's a gameplay contrivance, right? But it's not totally unreasonable either. You can't send a SEAL Team into a place full of Plagas, are you kidding me? You're sending healthy and important military service-members into a place that is basically giga cancer AIDS. It'd be like sending them to go fight among the fallout after a nuke goes off.

Games aren't books or movies, they're meant to be played, and I like when the world reflects that. RE is ultimately a weird mellowdrama with a globetrotting backdrop. And I'm not saying the story should be bad, but I don't think of it as bad, I think of it as fun.

And besides, if the US went to Spain after the president's daughter was kidnapped, they'd have to wait til Monday to hear back from them, and that's totally unrealistic to think that the US could wait that long.

So much cut content, a gimped Nemesis, no Julia Voth Jill, just as greedy as RE2make but not as polished, no stereotype Carlos, multiple moments of the author's barely disguised fetishes (the drain deimos), less gore, censored Jill outfits... they really wanted people to hate it.
They were hoping REsistance would be a big thing so people would forget all about how hacked to shit 3make was.

That would be fine if they did something to make it happen rather than king nigger walking up and saying "You're going to the hotel your mother died in Grace" and then a stuttering babbling retard just agrees. You can have the connections manipulating everything but there's better ways to do it. Why not have the Leon outbreak happen while Grace is walking on the street. It's the only place open and her + her partner run inside. Partner gets infected and replaces the policeman's role. Identical game play but we don't have to break our immersion. It's literally a uniform change and a guy standing by Grace's desk saying "Lets go Grace, I'll look after you". Basic common sense can fix the story there.

He despawned on me or I never met him. I wasn't looking the right way for the set piece and I just ran away and then I never saw him again until carrying Emily where I walked past him. He may as well have not existed.

Sending in Leon solo makes some sense. A single guy who's used to dealing with bio weapons solo is going to get in and out much quieter and faster than a full team. Any time we've seen a full team of mercs in RE it's all gone tits up almost immediately. Bio weapons don't care if 5 guys or 1 guy shoot them. They tank it and infect them all. Chris never learns this lesson but every major RE operative works solo or with another super cop partner, but there's only like 5 of them in the world.

Some rural areas do have single police come out as a quick response. He finds someone stuck in what he assumes is an abandoned house and tries to get you out. It's not any where near as retarded as sending a stuttering retard to the hotel her mother died in, while working for the FBI but also shits herself any time she has to say sausages.

Have you seen how the Japs write?
amazingly they can write amazing shit, they can completely ignore and cut out the shit that doesn't matter, and create stories that completely avoid Post-Ironic cringe and embrace and indulge total sincerity on almost anything.

Its how they made this franchise work, Western costal faggots would wax endlessly about making Grace being sent to her Mom's death site being done with realism and believable reasons, Japs? yea her Nigger boss just sends her there, case fucking closed, fuck you.

Its that sort of gordian knot cutting that really needs to happen in other games and even movies.. never in a million years would a Coastal Fag write a scene like in DMCV where Dante does Michael Jackson moves with his new Hat Weapon or when Dante and Virgil pettily argue over if Virgil beats Nero in a fight that means Virgil is in fact "the winner" of their 40 year fued.

Personally the biggest issue with the writing for 9 outside of the retcons is the amount of dumb bitch juice Grace has to drink for the plot to progress. I know there's going to be some contrived moments but she just chooses the worst decisions constantly from minute 1. A bed full of proof you're getting gangstalked? Doesn't call for backup. The cop got turned and you had to kill him? Didn't call anyone. Got bit by a zombie which are very public knowledge including the effects? Zero calls home. Weird sounds deeper in the hotel? Fuck it. I know other RE games have this to some degree but it's all they use to move her along.
