I do admit I havent watched Infinite Darkness, I actually have been pretty apathetic to the CG movies after Degeneration was a big pile of "Meh", beyond knowing some bits of lore like Rebecca appearing in one of them (and how bonkers Vendetta gets even for RE standards).

So I ignored Infinite Darkness, the prospect of Leon and Claire working together again kind of was already wasted (nvm that it tends to be mostly Leon's show, almost implying Claire cant hold her own against threats despite the fact C.V already shown she is plenty capable despite not being professionally trained). But as for what you have said, do they ever answer what was "still alive" in the CLEARLY CRATER-FIED R.C? Because if it is just using T-Virus zombies as weapons, well, that just isnt new by itself (and not even practical at this point).

The best 3d movie is the executer virus. The rest is just cheese and not the re4 kind

I've warmed to 7 when I hated it for years. But I still maintain as soon as you're done with Marguerite, that game is straight dogshit.

I think 8 is far more overrated since at least 7 did have survival horror in it, and not storybook fag shit.

Village is at least fun to play after the beginning segment. 7 dies like you said when you done with Margare4 but omg I hate the boat so much. And Village was just a tech demo for RE4make and really serves no purpose like Ethan does. It took one game to forget Ethan already. Stuttering grace is more memorable.

At least they get the og non race swapped characters. what did we get? Alice (pretty to look at that's it) jeet Leon race swapped Jill? Don't forget black wesker (even tho I loved lance Riddick) Capcom knows re is their cash cow so IDK why we get movies not related to the games at all

Wasn't the RE movie(s) made because it was Paul Anderson's pet project and his wife wanted a starring role? There's probably some form of money laundering involved tbh.
 
Two things I found weird upon further inspection

1- Its weird how they tease Leon will become part of the plot in CV by having Claire contact him first only for him to use his new connections to contact Chris. Kind of made Leon just play a giant game of telephone off screen because he was too busy with his training for the "saving the president's daughter" gig, its gonna be big I tell you.

2- When you truly think about it, Las Plagas is just kind of ultimately irrelevant for Wesker's plan in the long run? What I mean is that their presence seems to have been more as distraction and cannon fodder as, truly, Oruborus was made strictly from the Progenitor Virus (for years I believed it at least had some bits from L.P but apparently not). Maybe he did a few alterations so the parasite is more deadly/versitile but, again, seems like for the core of Wesker's plan, it really wasnt essential.

A fair point, though I'd argue that even the bad RE movies are fun schlock, the bad Street Fighter movie is just pure garbage.

I think it's them trying to expose the RE franchise to a wider audience, and because of that they change shit to appease "modern audiences". Capcom be stupid like that sometimes.

Las Plagas made him money, that was their use, it likely made him billions of dollars, as Las Plagas are superior B.O.W's as they can make an "army in a Can" anywhere in the world out of any populous.

I honestly can't think of a single resident evil game where this isn't the case. RE has always had a hard time with the home stretch, because the final third of the game is always dedicated to either ugly, bland industrial environments or sterile, bland medical ones. Neither of which lean on the series strength: ornate Gothic interiors and beautiful urban-punk exteriors. I know thats a vague description but raccoon city in the OG RE2+3 just had an amazing sense of style I haven't seen replicated properly. And looking at the RE engine, I don't think we ever will.

I think he just needed the brainwashing aspect for his new workforce. He's old umbrella, so the corporate compunction to outsource vital work to braindead 3rd worlders is a special weakness even the T-virus couldn't cure.
 
Glad I read through this thread a little. I've played a bit of RE9 since the Denuvo crack and I was going crazy after seeing all the hype this game was getting. I won't call it outright shit, but man people saying it's top 3 or top 5 RE are fake fucking nufans. Thank you Biohazard chuds for reaffirming my stance on RE 9 :)

They were aiming for a different look anyway. Everything in the originals is mysterious and surreal.

Does the internet have info on Capcom employees who made 2d backgrounds for Re2/3? I don’t think they were as young as the Streets of Rage devs.

To be fair, even RE4, for as good as is, dips a bit in quality after second act/the castle. With the exception of the Regenerator, the island section doesnt bring much new to the table. It is a testament to the quality of gameplay that it is still holds up enough until the end of the game.

Many games begin to just dip in quality in their third acts, even good ones. It is often refered to as the "Xen Syndrome", since the devs already threw most of what they had and the last parts of the game always tend to have the least amount of attention and effort compared to the first two acts.

In RE's case, it is mostly "time to use all that ammo you have been saving up, if you had" because the game is mostly throwing you stronger enemies to stall for you most of it
