My one major complaint thus far is the lack of any kind of invulnerability window after getting smacked down because Nemesis is a dickhead and usually isn't kind enough to let you get back up most times. The 2nd form on the rooftop knocked me down into red 4 times in a row right after healing and getting back up before I was finally able to move far enough away to escape an attack and the chase sequence after he busts out the rockets I think is bugged because he usually stops firing and chases you down after the 2nd corner, knocking you to your knees and not letting you get back up or heal before finishing you. You can't outrun his punch in that part and I had no luck trying to perfect dodge it so I'm not sure how you're consistently supposed to clear that part.

It feels a lot harder than 2 was, that's for sure.
Nemesis was pretty much a chain-attacking asshole in his human forms. Beyond giving you a few seconds from dragging you with a tentacle, there wasn't much else in room for dodging his swings. And I say this in being so close to reaching the subway only for him or a nearby zombie to get me and forcing me to quit and reload because screw that cheap death and screw counting it. As for the rockets, I was able to avoid getting hit by a melee attack but that was likely from getting some static objects to act as a barrier. The rest of the rocket launcher segment would be a pain in the ass in not wanting to get hit though.

Just playing the Director's Cut on Retroarch. Spookiness is mild to medium so far.
Never played an RE before but I'm glad I did, I'm having a lot of fun!

Time for a Review:

Is it a good game?
Hell yes, 8.5 Starrrrs. I had lots of fun. Thinking about playing hardcore which I never did before in a game. I love the environments, the music, the enemies & even the bossfights. Nemesis is a beast. He is like a mix of the terminator & the predator.

Is it a good remake?
It's no remake at all. It's a reimaginging (Capcom stated this several times). Lots of changes (there are some things I don't like but the original had weird stuff in it too). As for why is it a reimaging I guess it's because RE3 had been remade many times already in different games.

Is it worth the price?
Depends. Since I don't rush I played for over 7 hours. So for me it's acceptable. But for others it's too short. I def. recommend playing it but waiting for a price drop can't hurt.

What about Resistance?
Not a fan of these kind of games so I didn't play it. Today I watched a well known german youtuber play it for over an hour. He had lots of fun. I like how the mastermind is mocking the player characters & the music sounds good. That's all I can say.

I just want to say that "well the original was shorter than re2" is really weak defense for the cut content.
Same with "it's a re-imagining". Like, what the fuck does that mean? It feels like fucking with words when everyone knows full well this game is a remake. Resident Evil 3 exists, and this game has the same title. They're comparable to each other. I'd really expect them to iron out the issues with 2's remake, not exacerbate them.

As much as I dislike this guy's other content, his video on the Ratchet & Clank reboot applies so hard to all these remakes.

E: You fags didn't tell me I forgot the video

I hate the new rail cannon. It just seems like a cross between CV's end boss gun they use, and the old RE3 one.

The gun just runs on Rule of Cool, which could work but there even a limit to that. Look at the floor under jill when she fires it her legs are jelly if it does that to the floor. More jelly then when nem smashing her.

reimagined; reimagining; reimagines
Definition of reimagine

transitive verb
: to imagine again or anew
especially : to form a new conception of : RE-CREATE

Personally I think it's a step down. Could just be rose tinted glasses from owning RE3 as a child on gamecube, but The charm of old nemmy isn't here with the new one.

I just like how Nemmy was for 95% of the game still human looking, and by the end when he was competely worn down and loses his head, he becomes a giant beast after cannibalizing a dead tyrant for the final showdown.

In the new game I feel he becomes the beast form too quickly, and feels like richard simmions 2 retread boogaloo.
And his final form just feels like William birkin final boss 2:We ran out of ideas boogaloo.

Where does the giant cacoon even come from? He was taking a acid bath by himself how does nemmy aquire all that extra bio mass. It just reeks of We need to out do old games and the RE2 Remake so let's have a giant mass of flesh even if it doesn't make much sense in game.

As I stated before old nemmy had a explaination for that sudden Gains.

It came across to me as them thinking they have to go more biggerer than Birkin in 2.
Which can work if it atleast makes sense in game. With how the game currently is it just cames out of left field literally.

Likely unintental but I find that funny when I think about it.

Jill having the reboot Lara Croft look was probably done since a tank top and jeans would make more sense than her old tube top and miniskirt from the original. You could make the argument that they did it as some sort of preemptive "Anita-proofing" but even in 1999, Jill's old RE3 outfit was a target of mockery and jokes online.

Considering what Capcom decided to do later on, it was, and still is, a meme. Though in Jill's non-defense, when shit hits the fan, do you really have time to get dressed in your Sunday's best?

Also recommend the remake on GameCube (Dolphin emulator will run on any PC made in the last decade). They kept the feel of the original but made a lot of improvements and expanded the game. Also looks really nice, even by modern standards.

There is a HD remaster on PC which is supposed to be good too but never played it myself.

RE1 and RE2 are peak Resident Evil, if nothing else at least the remakes are helping people discover these classics.

RE1 Remake, Re2 Classic, RE3 classic I think are the Peak classic games. They are all good for the same reasons.

While RE4, RE5, and RE6 have peaked In different ways and are only enjoyable to certain people.

RE4 peaked on Being the most fun action while still being horror.

RE5 is Peak camp, but suffers from being too much action that bogs down the moments where you don't have the camp. Even weskers Voice actor was having fun with the camp.

And RE6 Is Peak grab bag. They threw the old game ideas in a blender Said fuck it more action, and out pops the 3 main stories which feels like Re2 lite, re5 lite, and re3 lite and a lite ada side game as a extra dish. It's certainlly not for everyone, and it if you get pass the over abundance of action et pieces It's not a bad game, but certainlly a aquired taste that might peaked for people who don't like Classic style, or RE4/5.

Just beat the RE3 remake and thought it was a big step down from the RE2 remake. Wish I had waited for a price drop. The first part of the game was pretty good but when you enter the sewer section it went downhill fast and kept getting worse and worse. I did like the first two bosses, but the last 'real' fight was just a retread of the second boss, except with regular enemies filtering into the arena (always a terrible idea!) and he gets exactly one new attack which has ability to knock you down and combo you to death before you can heal, and then the final fight is just a victory lap. The dodge mechanic with the slowmo was a great idea but very half baked in its implementation. Wish they had found a way to keep the choice system in the game from the original too. Very short and not of great quality, I'm left with a real sour taste in my mouth after this one. 5/10.

Fuck me, I didn't notice it before but playing Inferno again and Nemesis is smart enough to cover his weak point after a couple shots - he uses his right hand so loses the ability to pull you into melee range, but given he moves twice as quick on Inferno anyway...

Everyone owes it to themselves to give Inferno a shot without using shop items. Game is fucking terrifying.
