So is operation Raccoon City a game worth playing
Only if you can still find other players willing to suffer with you. Umbrella Corps and Operation Racoon City are kinda Resident Evil: Left4Dead flavor.

But if you want to scratch a Monster Hunter itch with Resident Evil , I suggest trying Lost Planet 2, its great with friends.
My only complaint with Lost Planet 2 is I can't see shit captain. Its probably a combination of mid-PS3 graphics, the fucking color filters, the saturation and that fucking annoying magma glow.

RE4 was clearly set in Spain, Luiz mentions being a Madrid policeman for one example, you weren't paying very close attention if you didn't realize it was Spain.
Yes, but where in Spain, Capcom never said.

No, it was clearly meant to be somewhere in rural Spain.
The currency used in the game was the peseta, which was the official Spanish currency pre-Euro, so quite definitely someone in Spain. I believe Spain is even mentioned as the location in the intro.
RE4 is definitely Spain.
It took place in rural Europe-Spainistan in an area with a small enclave of hard working and creepy Australian merchants.

Not to be contraian but that isn't evidence in itself. That just means he was a cop in madrid not that currently was one

The SCAZ. The Salazar Castellan Autonomous Zone. You probably haven't heard of it. They're small time.

Just beat RE4 for the first time. Don't know why I missed it when it came out, was a big fan of the original games and played all of the old ones from 1 to Code Veronica and player RE5 when that came out but for some reason missed 4. Awesome game, better than 5 in my opinion. The merchant is one of my new favorite character is videogames "Not enuff cash stranjah" luv it.

RE0 is now the only one of 'classics' I've not played. I'll get to it eventually.

Yeah, but it heavily implies it, does it not? If you saw a character mention being an NYPD cop in a movie about killer hillbillies who speak stereotypical southern slang would you then assume it takes place in.... Canada?

Capcom not bringing him back in any capacity at any point (at least in the mainline series. I feel like he's in Smash or something but I'm not sure) has always baffled me. They seem to completely underestimate just how popular and beloved he is.

And they all spoke Mexican-Spanish for no adequately discernible reason.

God was RE4 great.

RE4 was really the only one of the "Action Era" RE games I played and actually enjoyed.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited for RE8.

Still confused as to why they're remaking RE4 and not giving Code Veronica a proper remake. RE4 is more popular overall but Code Veronica is one of the more important titles in the series in terms of the overall "lore" of the game.

Wesker being back from the dead was a pretty shocking surprise at the time, even if it's now in the same category of plot twists as "Darth Vader is Luke's father", "Bruce Willis is dead", "Aerith gets killed by Sephiroth", and "The chick from The Crying Game has a schlong"

The Merchant was slated to return in the original version of RE5, although I don't know if it was the EXACT same "got some good things on sale, stranga!" guy or just the idea of a dude selling and buying stuff.

While I don't think Africa was ever a great idea for a setting for a RE game, the original, pre-co-op version of 5 definitely sounds like a better version of what we got.

That game was probably where Wesker looked the most like Johnny Bravo

The Merchant is even more badass when you realize that judging by the eyes he’s a ganado meaning he has a fully grown parasite in him yet is somehow able to retain complete control of his mental faculties.

You think he ever made it off the exploding island? Judgeing by how he always seems to be ahead of you, I would assume he was following leon the whole game, so he wsa bound to know the whole island was set to explode. Right?

It's a shame how overlooked Code Veronica is, I myself didn't play it until 2015 and a lot of RE's lore kind of clicked afterward, it also made it clear what the origins of Capcom's "Gothic castle" phase was.
