Why's it so fucking hard to properly adapt Resident Evil? The first three games are easy to turn into movies (you'd have to do some finagling with the first given that Jill and Chris' campaigns are basically identical, but it wouldn't be that tough). It ain't rocket science, just make a cheesy B-movie horror movie with body horror and zombies that follows the story of the games.

You could just do it in the same way as the novelisation - Chris gets split up and runs into Rebecca, Jill and Barry explore the mansion, Wesker hides away waiting for the team to find the crests so he can access the lab and carry out his own mission.

Because Shaun and the Dead having their ending played straight doesn't catch the eye of Hollywood Execs. Sure raccoon city had the bigass zombie outbreak but after that it becomes fairly localized with the exception of 6 and every world government knows how to handle it.

Hell, I'd do it as a live-action limited series explicitly set in the continuity of the old games and even go all out and make it a late 90's period piece focused around Raccoon City. It'd start off around June of 1998, just a few weeks before the Mansion Incident and from there progress on until the bombs fall. Maybe it starts out focused on the more mundane aspects of Raccoon City and you can have a lot of side characters like Ben Bertolucci, Robert Kendo, Marvin Branagh, and the minor characters on the STARS team more fleshed out. Then things escalate and we start to focus more on the main characters from the game.

Include the characters from Outbreak too, for that matter.

adapt 1.5, Netflix you coward!
Since they don't care about the main story anyway.
Or I dunno...an anthology series based on Outbreak??? It literally has a diverse cast already.
But nah, another post-apocalypse shit

Are we even sure they are wesker's kids and not some of the "wesker children"?
Because wesker already had a kid in 6 and showing all of his children is really fucking fan fic tier.
Why not just focus it on lesser characters so that it does not mess with the series in a big way? Like, have someone who works at umbrella be happy about having a job in a well paying company but then gradualy find out what they are actualy up to and then and it at an outbreak?

Watched the first few seconds and it's almost as if they're throwing softballs at sikshadow. Chris! What the hell! - if there's a 'thanks' and 'good stuff' I'm shitting my pants.

Doesn't this also make any possible RE4 remake a bit redundant? Very similar setting and seems like even the merchant is back as well. That's before we even get into the argument of whether it even needs a remake, or how the campy elements would translate to a more realistic approach.

Got another trailer.

Not too much new. There's more emphasis on Chris' villainous role and there's some strange cult that's somehow involved. The setting and the cult are giving me strong RE4 vibes. That said there's an interesting storybook animation to go along with the book Mia's reading, which I kinda hope becomes a recurring motif in the game.

What cult? The people in the room standing around a table? They look more like scared villagers trying to keep the monsters away by saying magic verses or something. The villagers in RE4 were also just that. The Los Iluminados cultists on the other hand looked entirely different.

I looove the animations. Looked like out of a Tim Burton movie.

Come on. RE4 and RE8 are apples & oranges. Leon rescuing the presidents daughter from tentacle cultists & soldiers in spain isn't the same as Chris, Ethan & Mia in a romanian village surrounded by wolf-human & vampire-human creatures.

The Village in RE4 was only a SMALL part of the game but in RE8 the word Village in the title because it plays a special role.

To quote the developers:
“You can say the Village is another protagonist in the game. We want players to clearly understand that.”

The village in RE4 is also already corrupted when Leon arrives but in RE8 non-mutated humans are still living there.

I assumed they were a cult primarily because of the chanting and because of that large symbol carved into the table with the candles surrounding it. The way the trailer cuts between them and the freaky decorations added to that as well.

Maybe they aren't a cult and I just associated them as one because of the imagery that's there. There isn't a lot of new info in the trailer so I'm just speculating on what might be in the game at this point.

The RE2 and 3 remakes went for a realistic look, and if they kept with that aesthetic I don't see how a giant clockwork Salazar or helicopters sneaking up on enemy soldiers and pushing a water tower onto them would really fit. So it would seem more likely they toned down the campy elements, bringing it more in line with Village. Plus it's very unlikely Village will take place in just the titular location, in the same way RE1 wasn't just the mansion and RE2 wasn't just the RPD building.

I think these villagers believe the sign is going to protect them. Irl it would be similar to protection symbols people used in the past to ward off evil. This would fit quite well into the romanian setting.

Is it just me who doesn't care about Ethan? I'd much rather it starred one of the established characters alongside Chris. Jill, Barry or even Sheva would be an ideal fit.
I think part of Ethan's problem is he was set up to be an every man sort of character to roll back the over the top antics of the usual crew. The only problem is you get diminishing returns on that idea because the more times you use Ethan you either have to make him more like a Chris type hero or keep him an every man that just happens to keep getting into these situations which becomes kind of farcical.

The game is gonna have to try really hard to make me believe Chris is the villain or the bad guy in any true sense. He has earned the benefit of the doubt that at worst he is doing a greater good thing here that is probably the correct choice. It would be nice to see a character like Jill or Barry react to his heavy handed methods though.

Men can be driven to desperate measures when it comes to continuing the bloodline. FUCK MY SISTER ETHAN!
