I'm gonna chuckle at all the guys pining for Tall Lady if she turns into a butt ugly monster when the game comes out.

It's fucking Resident Evil, it's practically a requirement for the antagonists to transform into ugly abominations.
im sure she'll look great when you shoot her in the face.

Ok, so I've never played a resident evil game past about an hour. I hate zombies as a genre usually. But, I do have a vague knowledge of the general idea: STARS police vs corrupt bio medical corporation that created zombies/mutants.

Have they done away with that now? So, it's like gothic horror?

Is this game an entry point to the series?
Resident Evil generally writes it stories as stand alone games with no plans for sequels, then bolts the next one on the end. In RE1, you didn't know it was a mega corporation at first. You were investigating a disappearance of a police team that went missing investigating cannibals. RE2 had the virus infect an entire city, and not just a mansion with a lab underneath.

Generally speaking, you can enter the series at any numbered game. The only games that really hinges on prior game knowledge are Code Veronica (the plot is all call backs), and Operation Raccoon City (you play bad guys in a "what if" scenario). Obviously there are benefits to playing old games. RERemake is full of things to troll fans of the original game, knowing the relationships of characters in prior games, etc.

Since the RE8 trailer came out I've seen some people saying that human/wolf creatures & Vampire like people aren't creatures that belong into RE.
I don't mind werewolves in my Resident Evil. I do object to the paranormal stuff simply because the original idea was the threat was concrete. So weird regenerating dog monsters, fine. Ghosts and witches, not so much.

I saw a minor push to say she was trans. Something that seems designed to be a troll because she's a monster, ResetEra would flip out if they went all in on the "tall lady is trans" narrative.

The Tall Lady is like a busty version of Daniella from Haunting Ground.

Same basic idea of being chased by a hot woman and there's something really interesting and unique when the monster you're being chased by is a hot woman, it's surprising you don't see that done more often.
There's an untapped gold mine waiting right there, i remember reading somewhere that being chased/stalked around by an attractive pursuer is a very common sexual fantasy for women and low T males.

Seeing how much of a reaction the Tall Lady is getting from gamers, i wouldn't be surprised if devs took notes and dived in.

She is totally going to become a hideous monster. But that's not going to stop the freaks who are thirsting for her.
Remember margaret from 7?
She had an entire maggot fest in her crotch, i hope it happens here too.

With the woke leaks from Capcom, maybe this tall lady is what happens when Tyrant transformation comes from an autogynephile? Why transform into a hulking and manly Tyrant when you can finally be The Woman You Always Were™?

This has already been done in RE Dead Aim.

The villain is a weird dude named Morpheus who transforms into a female tyrant because he wants to be beautiful.

But his final form is a disgusting blob of flesh.

You could say his first form is what agps think they are and the second form is what agps actually are.

Not gonna lie, I actually kind of like Survivor and Dead Aim both unironically despite their flaws.

Does anyone else think Morpheus looks like Sephiroth before he takes the virus and troons out? It's also kind of interesting that the virus Morpheus takes is called the TG Virus. Maybe someone at Capcom had some bad experiences with troons back in 2003?

He does look like he stepped out of a Final Fantasy game, same as James Marcus from 0.

I don't know if the developers were "inspired" by Final Fantasy at the time, or if the artists were high off their asses.

Survivor despite everything had a really great atmosphere. It was dark and mysterious, then it kind of fumbles all over the place. I think it was about one generation too early. If it had come out after Halo and the console FPS renaissance, I think it could have been something really special.

Agreed on every level.

Survivor's biggest flaw in my humble opinion is that it tried to mix the classic tank controls with the FPS gameplay.

I don't have a problem with tank controls but it doesn't lend itself well to first-person games, especially not back then. Maybe it was better with the Guncon but we didn't get Guncon support thanks to Columbine.

FPS games were in a weird state of limbo around 1999-2000. There was the big controversies related to Columbine, but the genre was in an odd place in general. The Doom clone fad of the mid-90's was largely petering out and while Quake and Unreal generated a lot of interest on the PC side of things, the only console FPS that was even remotely popular at the time was Medal of Honor.

It was the era that was after Doom and Duke Nukem but before Halo, Half-Life 2, and Call of Duty.

If Capcom was smart, they could easily do a remake of Survivor on the RE Engine and actually make it work very well.

I'd love to see a proper fan remake of it. There was that "Behind The Mask" total conversion mod for the SourceNext PC ports of RE2 that was going to recreate the game as a "Classic RE" tank controls game but that went nowhere from the looks of it.

Survivor's biggest flaw that it released in the columbine-era. I think it made the game developers lost some of their balls abit.

As one of the few previledge to play Survivor with guncon, it was a blast playing it (not aged like fine wine fun, but in 90s fun)

I feel like I'm the only asshole that liked Umbrella Corps. Or maybe I'm just being a contrarian?

I remember the producer for it specifically saying it wasn't your typical RE game, only for scores of people to shit their pants and go "Ugh! This isn't Resident Evil!" I mean... no shit? It was advertised as a squad based multiplayer-centric and objective based game, and I'm relatively sure they knew that going forward with it's development, because the damn thing was made in the Unity engine. They didn't lose a lot of money when it flopped, and it felt more like an experiment than anything else.

I've always admired playing as the "grunts" in any established universe, because seeing all this crazy bullshit from their perspective is a treat in itself.
There is a story, btw, but all it is is just some text dumps during loading screens, which further lends to my theory that UC was an experiment.

I dunno, something about Red Umbrella making their own soldier program in an attempt to recreate HUNK's success rate has an interesting angle to it that I would've liked to see explored more, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Your average normie doesn't like playing a faceless nobody.

Jesus tapdancing Christ, what does it take to wound that Tyrant on the plane?

I've been using a single BOW grenade, a few acid rounds, and the dual pistols, and the fucker still hasn't limped. And of course, trying to dodge his attacks is an exercise in frustration since the area is so narrow (and god help you if he has you trapped in a corner).

I'm trying not to waste too much of my ammo, but I'm starting to wonder if I should get the explosive bolts out...

Honestly you might as well do that, I'm pretty sure I did the same thing and I still got through the rest of the game without too much trouble.

That being said, try to be as conservative as possible still, save the bolts for when you're out of everything else cause some of the other fights might be a pain if you don't prepare beforehand.
