What were your favorite guns, and how is the Mercenaries mode if you’ve had the time to fiddle with it?
I only played through one round of Mercenaries so far, it's really fun. There was only one general "area" though. There is a button prompt to switch arenas but none came up so it could be DLC or something you have to unlock, not sure. Guns were all really fun, in the beginning of the game enemies do feel kind of spongey but that stops being a problem pretty promptly. Favorite was probably the magnum, haven't played with the NG+ guns though. Some additional shit
-Graphics are really good and the game ran almost flawlessly even with the ray tracing turned on. No clue about last gen consoles, I was playing on Series X but RE Engine is pretty good so probably runs fine on those as well. Only area with noticeable dips in framerate was an ending are with tons of shit happening
-Enemy variety is pretty good overall and the enemy designs are overall really cool
-They absolutely NAILED Chris in this game, his attitude and design are great

Did Ethan already miss part of his hand in the demos? I must have missed it in how early this happened in the game.

Just beat it. Was surprised how vampire milf wasn't the best villain in the game. If I were to rank them in terms of personality and how entertaining they were on screen it'd probably be Heisenberg>Moreau>Doll Lady=Vapire Milf
Heisenberg caught my attention right away so this is interesting to hear. I’m hopping on the game in a bit, really looking forward to the villains.

I didn't even know it was out. I am so out of the loop and thought this was an august release.

RE8 feels like 4 on crack so far.

Blasphemy, I know, but I'm liking it more than 7 so far. As nice as 7 was to dial everything way back after the overblown melodrama that was 6, I just don't ever want to play it again because I find it boring and really hate the punk ass villain playing Saw with you. Best part of the game was when you're Mia on the ship, actually got invested for a minute.

Also lol at the struggle to make Ethan into an actual human with character. I have never felt so uninvested in a RE hero and the acting still feels detached.

Still, I'm interested in seeing where this goes. About to head to the castle next I think. Seeing faggot journalists bitch about the game connecting back to Umbrella or something means I'll probably dig it since they can take their ironic post modern analysis of RE and blow it out their ass.

Curious to know what the original RE8 was supposed to be if this was supposed to be Rev 3.

I binged on it after work today but after a few hours I'm a little too tired to carry on, thoughts so far - really enjoying it. I love the quieter segments where you explore and get to really see everything but also don't mind the action oriented segments now that I've got my shotgun mostly upgraded and am destroying everything. I felt a little rushed during the castle segment but on a replay will probably explore more. It's batshit and considering I liked Ethan in 7, I still mostly like him in this one especially the over the top injuries, poor guy needs a break. Also, the game looks fucking gorgeous on ps5. I'd recommend to anyone playing to take your time and explore, also pick up as much treasure as you can! It's like re4 all over again :heart-full:

The gimmick of big unstoppable villain that chases you around but you can't hurt them is real old now. I can't find the courtyard because of that vampire slut chasing me around,

House Beneviento kicked all sorts of ass, in my opinion. Really fucking unsettling.
I stumbled across footage of it, namely the weird fetus monster and it freaked me the hell out. Probably the creepiest thing I've ever seen in a video game.

Is that section a stealth sequence? I keep hearing about a hide-and-seek segment and I'm a huge fucking pussy when it comes to stealth in horror games.

Been watching a playthrough of it because my computer is a potato, and I just finished that section. It's extremely short, but it definitely has you running from the monster and hiding a couple times at least. That estate so far has been absolutely terrifying from what I saw, more so than the castle. My only complaint is that it's over with so quickly and there isn't much lore going on for it aside for some notes you can miss.

So I’ve been playing RE8 for about 2 hours and I gotta say it’s pretty good. Currently in castle dimitrescu. Certainly not groundbreaking, but a pretty fun game. Quite enjoying it.

You play as Chris for about half an hour and that’s it for other characters.
I’ve seen some footage of that fetus thing and it’s looking interesting. Can’t wait to get to that section, it reminds me of P.T.
Learn to edit, you fucking faggot.

Played through a good chunk and I'm already enjoying it leagues more than 7.
I'm playing on standard and have only died once so far (that first trap of Heisenberg's got me just as I found the escape route). Dimitrescu's daughters went down a lot quicker than I thought they would but her boss fight was pretty fun.

You can easily outrun her. If she happens to corner you, wait until there's an opening to skirt around her. Her attack animation is as slow as she is.

It seems interesting. I like that (from what I've been told) it is the women of the game that make it memorable. Apparently the main characters aside from Ethan and Chris are all female.

I didn't play the previous game but from what I gathered it was essentially every cannibal redneck family in games with a dash of Chainsaw Massacre.
