I liked RE7 Chris since it seemed more normal or relatable compared to RE5 Boulder punching asshole Chris.

I guess RE8 Chris is a cross in the middle between RE5 and RE7.

Though I found it weird he called himself Redfield and if there will be additional DLC like RE7 had.

Are they gearing up for a (proper) soft reboot?
Most of the current cast is definitely getting older and "future Rosemary" seen at the end gives them a character with history to build a new cast around. Have some of the current cast pop out few kids and bring back that little girl from Revelations 2 who they hinted got Weskered as a bad guy. Old cast can then be relegated to mentor/"head of the new agency" type of roles.

They "soft soft "rebooted with 7 but still kept Chris at arms length (and you played him in the DLC anyway) in case it went to shit. Going back to playing as an old character or introducing a new one would also slightly invalidate the past two games because they had Ethan sacrifice himself in such a spectacular manner, so sweeping that away seems unlikely. Can't exactly have a toddler as a protag either. RE of course has a long history of introducing characters that are then rarely (or never) seen again, but with the more serious narrative turn I feel like they're unlikely to do that anymore. Especially now that the narrative is so much more compact and personal in nature.

Anyway, I liked these games more when they were basically shitty b-movies in a video game form (especially the first four), now they're all serious and shit. Or maybe it was just the limitations of the older hardware that made them seem sillier than they actually were.

You know I was going to wait a while until buying RE8 because I was still skeptical about the games quality but considering I've seen nothing but praise so far I might actually pick it up now.

It's mediocre and borderline fantasy, Ethan has all the personality of a brick, and if you're playing on PC prepare for unexpected frame drops into the low 10's on a high end machine, and narrow as fuck FOV.

I usually don't have tech issues with PC games (even Cyberpunk I had no major issues) but Village seems to be really poorly optimized. Getting micro stutters whenever I kill an enemy and the frame rate goes to the toilet when grabbed by enemies. I think I'm going to wait for a patch before I play any longer.

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say it's probably some fuckery Denuvo's causing. Whenever it's removed from a game, the performance actually improves. Last year it was haphazardly added to Doom Eternal and the performance became noticeably worse. Doom Eternal was one of the most beautifully optimized games for PC prior to Denuvo being added, so people actually had a frame of reference for how the game is supposed to perform. Then Denuvo was removed and it went right back to playing smoothly.

This is why I'm gonna wait it out a bit before getting it. Only other option is to get it for my base PS4, which, at a cursory look, isn't ideal (it apparently run at 45 fps).

Are you even running from them or are you actually trying to fight them off? Because the latter is pointless, they’re not hard to lose dude. If they’re still in the area after you hid, just bolt past them.
I don't even get why they are a problem, once i see them i turn around and loop around them. A lot of areas in the castle are made as big square hallways, and the daughters aprear mostly in areas where you'll fight them.

i didint realize the game was out until i played the demo. speaking of the demo, who was the jackass that thought giving you a 60 minute time limit was a good idea? castrate him.

not buying this game. was not impressed. however, i be wafting for the vampire porn.

How many enemies am I supposed to kill in the first fight? Am I missing some sortof trigger? I don’t the ammo or medkits to deal with this.

Is there anything or anyone who can stop this man? He’s simply too chad to exist

About 90% of the way through. Quick thoughts:

People saying this game is the second coming of RE4 aren't far off. It has a lot of the same vibe. It doesn't get outright cheesy like the worst moments of 4 though. It has the same general excellent pacing RE4 had.

I'm actually really shocked at just how good the base shotgun is. It's so good I kinda expect a rebalence patch in a few weeks. It feels way overtuned right now. Once you get it the normal handgun is basically almost useless. Shells are plentiful for it. Yes, the shotgun has always been powerful in RE games, but this is on another level.

Enemy variety is one of the big criticisms of 7 and Capcom absolutely heard people. The flying gargoyles make the sniper rifle feel worth using. Actual mini-bosses this time around as well.

The vampire women only take up the first section of the game. All the other lords are way different in theme. The doll house is creepy as fuck in the best way.

Length is better than 7. It's way more open and promotes exploration way more. Several big upgrades require you to go out of the linear paths and search a bit.

The RE engine is holding up really well. Seriously, potato computers are running this game and it still looks nice. Only raytracing and one unique area in the game with a ton of enimes has caused my framerate to dip.

IMO it's the best game of the year so far. First major hit. I'm leaning at a 9/10 right now.
