If we're talking modern ports, I go with Type 3. It closely resembles the original control scheme, at least on PS2 which was the version I first played it on. Given that RE4 doesn't allow you to move and shoot at the same time, I don't mind using the face buttons to shoot and reload. Modern shooting controls just feel kinda weird with RE4.
Speaking as someone whose first playthrough was on Hardcore, it's a rough start, but everything gets much easier as your firepower upgrades over time. It makes the beginning far more difficult, but once you upgrade enough you start being able to punch through your enemies well enough that your deaths will come far less often. I don't regret having played through on it, even if the opening few hours were agony before everything got smooth.
Hardcore was a rough start for me due to the survival section at the beginning and it being unclear on what the clear conditions were. After that it felt like an okay balance of enemies being dangerous enough but you also being capable of dealing with most things that get in your way.

Pretty much. Capcom toyed with the idea of the Ashfords having German names and being tied to Nazis but that was scrapped in favor of just making them Britbongs who were all descended from a noble woman. Beyond Umbrella corp and vague government ties, Resident Evil isn't even much of a political game unless you were to be like the spergs too busy trying to one up the other groups of idiots they didn't like.
And for all one can go on with Spencer and eugenics being white supremacy and all that, Resident Evil before going more ridiculous on its elements was just simple "big pharma company makes bio weapons for US government" which included sharks for God knows what and Wesker was nothing more than some cop team leader who turned out to be a scientist that made a virus and a tall human looking bio-weapon. No aryan bad guy stuff like the article would think or any special powers coming in until Code Veronica which is where things would jump further from there. And even with the ridiculousness of Spencer and eugenics, Spencer's gimmick was "EVOLVE HUMANITY, BECOME GOD" all of which may as well just be filled with writing that can be questionable because how much more can one even make out of it without it falling apart.

Dude was more then wacko. The dude had a fucking meltdown over a baseless theory, and reaching so far as to even say the Greedy worm(A giant fucking worm) was a giant circumcised penis. This is the kind of shit I would love to see happen in the RE fandom.
The gameplay of re6 was fun as fuck. But, it just seemed to be going in too many directions to make a cohesive game. Each campaign was good on its own, the combat was great and made for fun action. But as a whole? Kinda left me thinking.... Just what kind of game is this supposed to be? Bouncing all over the place, time jumps for story's sake, J'avo just showing up out of nowhere... It's a mess. Re6 is a lot of fun, but kinda falters as an RE game. Just my 1 1/2 cents on the game.
