I am liking the Jovovich films so far. Don't judge me lmao they're mindless trash. Was fun seeing James Purefoy act like he was getting demolished by a Windows 95 era CGI monster.

I got RE7 gold for cheap. Scary stuff doesn't bother me but I'm wondering about jump scares?

You know what is funny to me about Infinite Darkness?

The series is a prequel set in the early 2000's. Why is that so funny? Simple, because it shows how Capcom is trying to work around the fact that the RE characters are getting too old for this shit. And RE cant use a floating timeline (which is what DC/Marvel use to justify their characters always being at a specific age range) because its something far more grounded in reality for as insane as it can get. I feel like this series is just testing to see what it can get away with...seriously, I can already see RE9 being set in the past or something to hide the fact that none of them have a single gray hair on...and that the females are just barely fertile at this point...I mean NONE of them intends on having children? Shit like this just removes a lot of depth from these characters (and to anyone that says that the Revelations games were set in the past, those dont count to me).

These movies arent bad if you turn off your brain (tho its not a good thing when a requirement for people to enjoy your movie is for them to turn off their brains...)

RE7 has a few jumpscares but I say they are done well. Its nothing brutal and goes for more atmosphere and claustrophobic fears of being trapped inside a place with people that want you dead...Hmm, I wonder if Outlast influenced RE7 a bit (besides the obvious influences from P.T)

He's a stand-in for Wesker (betraying the squad). He's never going to fill those shoes, so he shouldn't have even tried. The original kept him to the shadows for the most part. In 3make, he's everywhere.

He's always pulling up ladders, talking about how rich he's going to be, and shouting 'neener neener' when Nemesis shows up. Like Ray Winstone in Crystal Skull, he betrayed me about five times too many. And unlike the original, you aren't allowed to finish him off.

The fuckiest thing about it is that he canonically gets away with everything. Im not kidding, the canon ending of 3 has him escaping on a chopper and Barry saving Jill and Carlos on his own chopper. And he never appears again, the closest thing to a reference to him was in, of all things, RE Survival where a documentary talks about stuff the bad guys adquired from him.

So its really implied he got away with everything.

Video games are similar to anime in that nobody "ages." Characters can't get by on facial recognition (uncanny valley), so hair is the only thing which tells them apart.

It's actually uncommon for characters to change their overall look. Someone at Capcom took one look at ZSS and said, "I'll have what SHE'S having", and the result was Barbie in a wetsuit. (It is funny that Wesker decided to prioritize that.) But before long she went back to her old design.

Remember the backlash to Max Payne 3. And Bionic Commando. And DmC. And Chun-Li wearing pants.

It's actually uncommon for characters to change their overall look, unless it makes them sexy. Case in point: Zero Suit Samus happened, and now it's the most important facet of Metroid. Samus now shows very little personality outside of being the cosplay girl from Smash.

It fit Wesker to surround himself with beautiful ladies that worked for him, willingly or otherwise...guy saw himself as a God, he kind of has an ego, you know? In fact, it tends to be a recurrent thing for these type of god syndrome villains.

There is Wesker, M.Bison with his "dolls" and Darkseid with the furries (which are all female). They clearly get a kick out of women serving them (tho be honest, what guy wouldnt?)

Edit: Oh and of course almost all of them are scantily clad because they are chads like that

I actually like how they progressively age every game. Although it is pretty ridiculous most if not all the chicks dont settle down. Although I remember reading in a magazine clipping that Jill tuckered down and worked at an embassy somewhere during the events of 6.

I can think of a whole mess of reasons.

From the stereotypical "former military who gets jumpy when they hear a car backfiring or fireworks", to having a low tolerance for civilian life. "seriously, sorry Starbucks was out of your special sweetener, i know thats a horrible start to the day honey, HAVE YOU KILLED ANYONE1"

The problem is that the games never, you know, address it. We are just to assume that ALL of them never intend on having any children and to just live their lives fighting this endless fight against bio-terrorism. I wish they would just have them say it so we dont have these questions lingering in our heads. It could show that Chris, for as good as he is, is far too broken and shaped by past traumas to truly settle down...he accepted that this is his fate and he will do it until he dies, either from natural causes or his luck finally running out. RE6 offered such a perfect way of retiring his character, they didnt have to never make him playable again but just show that he is aware there is more to life than just fighting non stop and he needs to spend the rest of his life doing something more fulfilling (he doesnt even have to settle down...honestly he was kind of getting too old for that even in RE 6).

Dont even get me started on the ladies....especially since age usually hits them harder. It blows me away because they kind of have even less excuse than the men for not settling down, since most of them have less active roles like Claire and Rebecca. I can maybe imagine Jill has the same mentality as Chris and I honestly have no idea what goes through Leon's head...Im starting to realise why they just wont show them because there is no way they wouldnt have any visible gray hairs.

Barry is the only one that seems to adknowledge he isnt as young as he used to be (he was already a man of age in RE 1/3)

Well Barry has the excuse of already being a family man, and Rebecca was 18 in RE1 so... she's what? 38 or so? She's doing a bit better then the rest, especially as she's not as active combat wise as a military adviser. Claire doesn't really have that excuse, hense the memes.

Seriously, just what are we suppose to assume Claire is doing behind the scenes? You can imagine the others are training or studying or some stuff like that but besides Claire being an activist, just WHAT she does with her life? Cancelling evil mega corporations while ironically using Twitter for it?

I’m wondering why Claire’s personality changed so much in revelations 2. She goes from loving kids to interrogating them lmfao.

Unless it's been retconned out, Jill's been so experimented on that she might not even be able to have kids. Same with Ada* Chris is too driven and broken like you said to really ever settle down. Rebecca probably has the best shot at a normal life, not counting the weird and creepy shit that seems to follow her. Leon... I'm not too sure actually.

*kinda sorta, it's a bit complicated.

Very recently spoke to someone who said that RE5 had the best writing of the games, then 6 then 4. I tried to be reasonable, I tried to hide my disdain. I didn't realise there were people out there who liked how RE had evolved. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to retreat into my bunker and replay classic Resident Evil games until my fingers cramp up and the nausea fades away.
I recently found that one of my Professional run PS4 saves of RE4 had been corrupted and I had to replay the helicopter segment again to beat it, save it and restart with the unlockables. I really don't understand how the fuck I did it the first time because all I had was a Red9 with 11 shots, a TMP with 12, a single green herb and a flash grenade. I spent about 4 hours jut grinding against a brick wall until I made it to the end and then getting catharsis by erasing every enemy I fought with the P.R.L. 412 and mafia outfit.
Edited to remove accidental quote because I'm just the king of the retards today

4 benefits from a walkthrough. Especially for those of us who lack an understanding of DPS and crowd control. I generally stay away from shooters, so all the guns look alike to me.

In hindsight, the TMP is worthless and the Red9, while accurate (mini sniper rifle), lags behind in other areas.
I just don't know what the fuck I was doing, I always, always, always have the Striker with the 100 shot magazine by that point. It was just surreal, it felt like picking up someone else's game. Have you ever loaded someone else's save file in an RPG or tried playing on a friends game where their keybindings are all fucked up or they've built their characters totally differently to how you normally have them? It was really unnerving. I once found a copy of Pokemon X at my house and assumed I'd bought it and never played it, but when I booted it up my character had the right name and the Pokemon all had the kind of nicknames that I use I just had no memory of ever playing the game, it was totally surreal. If you can imagine that sensation then that's how I felt playing RE4 the other day.

This was commonplace in the days of cartridges.

Not so much now, though I can't step away from strategy or role-playing games for too long without forgetting what I was doing. There's just way too much going on.
