Anyone played Siren? It reminds me of a cross between RE, Silent Hill, and Ringu
Like another poster said above, way too japanese, got some disturbing visuals, and the uncanny valley effect is top notch, but the entire rural japan setting... I just don't like it, it's too samey looking for me

Also frustratingly hard, got to a point where it just felt too chorish for me, watched a playthrough later on, enjoyed it better that way.

They had a reunion. Todd Soley sent a pic of his hands lmao

Todd Soley (Ethan Winters) is apparently a very private person yet extremely nice. I gotta admire him for that tbh.

REmake and 2make are the definitive versions.

3make is a not bad game; just a starkly different one. It doesn't resemble RE3 at all. Cutscenes are full of cringey 'Throwminator" moments. It's not the best representation of Jill, either: her Padmé Amidala lookin'-ass keeps getting away, when any real person would have their windpipe crushed.

The choice to have Nemesis play second fiddle to Nikolai made me scratch my head. (I recall Alien³ was supposed to go in that direction, with Golic teaming up with the Xenomorph to go kill Ripley.)

No, 3make IS a terrible game. It's got a terrible unfocused story, characters who cant focus on a goal, Jills an unlikable bitch who comes across more like an angry teenage boy than an adult woman, Nicholai feels like a 1930s mustache twirling villain now, all the male characters in the game solely exist in order to protect Jill and the biggest crime is that Nemesis has been somehow neutered as a character, a monster, and a threat.

Problem 1: Jill. She's a bitter, whiny, overly aggressive suicidally stupid character who isn't allowed to really fail. Carlos, Mikhail, and the blackguy all exist to sacrifice themselves to keep her alive.

Problem 2: Nicholai is now relegated as the primary threat. But instead of being the cold killer that was hunting down other supervisors and survivors in order to become the most valuable asset to Umbrella after the Raccoon city incident...He's just a dick someone hired to destroy Umbrella. The removal of the supervisor story element really hurt this games story, because it added a needed layer of devious treachery to a bad situation. Thats classic RE really.

Problem 3: Nemesis. He's a giant screaming vagina in this game. Giant monster chasing you? 1 grenade, problem solved. Giant monster second form chasing you? Use homing mines. Problem solved. Giant monsters 3rd form stays in a solitary position and is more than happy to be a target for you to shoot until you have to use your laser penis to give him an orgasm. They took away his big story moments that gave him some character and also took away his second and third forms. Now his second form is just a giant licker without a tongue, and G-5 that plays whack-a-mole with you. They took away his character visually and storywise.

Problem 4: Carlos is a cuck in this game. Its really obvious too. Half his dialogue in the game is kissing Jills ass or going on about how amazing she is or how she's braver than he is, It's embarrassing because his whole character now is to exist just to support her. He had a little more to him in the original game than this, but goddamn he's not just an ass kisser, he's incompetent as hell. They have him get his ass kicked by Nicholai TWICE in the last 10 minutes of the game. Then he has to be saved by Jill as the final part of the game.

Problem 5: The goal in the game goes from trying to escape, to trying to save Jill, to trying to save the cure, to stopping Nicholai....The original game had this done so well. Every time you try to run from Nemesis, he ruins your escape directly, or indirectly. The climax of the game is defeating him so you CAN escape. The detour to rescue Jill was the only part not dedicated to directly escaping, but you got the reveal about the supervisor program and what Nicholai was doing.

I wont get into how the re-designs of the Hunters, Brain suckers are awful, or the cut content, or that the games too short. But the overall design of the game was the scariest part of it because of how inept everything is. I HATE having to say this too. I can see how hard they worked on this project, but they didn't have much to work with. :/

This was one of my biggest problems with the game, and it really can’t be stated enough. I get that she has PTSD in the game, but it felt like an excuse from the writers to make her really goddamn unlikable. I’ve said it before that Jill is the type of character that can stay calm under pressure, and it seems keeping Jill in a box for 9 years would make the writers forget what her personality is. It’s like they were trying to take notes about what the modern day definition of a strong woman is, but she came off as more whiny and pathetic than strong.

I think its worse than that. Maybe it was the bad writing of the original games, but the impression I got was that part of why the surviving characters survived was due to them being able to stay calm in the horrible situations they were put in. Some of that is still present here, but its pushed aside to have Jill call Nemesis a bitch or a fucker.

They also have no clue how PTSD works. It makes you more vulnerable due to how the trauma effects you. If they properly used it, then the whole game would have been about Jill facing her ultimate fear,: becoming infected with the T-virus. Instead she gets incapacitated and wakes up and everything is fine,

In the original she was lucid after being infected and the scary thing was her starting to not feel anything in her body. They couldn't even give her this to face and instead had her take a nap and wake up and feeling just fine.

Lots of interesting approaches could have done this idea, but instead we got what we got :/

Not quiiiiite, 2 remake is indeed better than the original but the original is still worth playing as well, it has a few interesting elements that were lost in translation to the remake.

REmake is a complete replacement for the original though, I've played but never actually finished the original RE because REmake is so much better in every single way.

If by "definitive" you mean best then yeah, the 1 and 2 remakes are the definitive ones, but unlike the original game I do still feel like the original 2 is worth playing whereas people are fine with just sticking with REmake 1 for the first game.

I like the 3 remake better than most people, but it is indeed inferior to the original, for one thing there's no real excuse for leaving out the clocktower as it was only a brief part of the original game.

Jill's PTSD is so inconsistent. She goes from scared shitless to throwing crappy oneliners and profanities and Nemesis became more annoying than terrifying. Why should I be scared of a monster if she keeps calling him a little bitch?

Resident Evil 3 remake would work well as a single-player DLC for RE2 to act as the Spark Notes version of RE3.

As a stand-alone game, it fails.

It makes sense that Umbrella would stash a lab under Spencer Memorial. Having Carlos carry Jill to the hospital allows her to reach it with ease.

It is strange how Carlos dumps her in the 1st floor ER, or wherever it was. Why not a chapel within the hospital, to tie it back to RE3?

The siege section would have worked just as well with the zombies trying to eat Ty instead of Jill. The zombies target Jill once she's already been infected? You don't see them chowing down on fellow zombies. 🤔

Jill's unconscious for "half a day" before Carlos retrieves her. Nemesis was just licking his wounds for 12 hours and didn't circle around the Clock Tower to confirm his kill.

One thing that I did like about 3 remake was all the fake ads and whatnot, it felt like a cross over between Resident Evil and Dead Rising.

I mean I guess you can argue there's a tonal clash there, but I thought it was amusing, it makes me want a Dead Rising in the RE engine.

I’d find it more interesting if she’s terrified at the beginning, but slowly becomes less fearful and more confident as the game goes on. But no, she goes from slightly scared in the opening to snarky after. But as you know, one of the commandments of resident evil is this. “Thou shalt not write vulnerable characters.”

Problem 3: Nemesis.
I thought he at least looked cool. My biggest gripe with Nemesis was how...painfully scripted all of his appearances were. In the original (even though I played it through more times than I care to admit, and I know all the places he *could* pop up), half of the tension was wondering just where and when he was gonna plow through a wall and fuck up your day. If they had him stalk you through the city more, be more active and clever than Mr. X (also, give more of the city to explore...), he would have been absolutely terrifying to have to deal with. I was entirely too excited to see the big hole in the locker-room in the police station, thinking that we'd see Jill in the RPD and have nemesis bust through the wall to try and share some kool-aid...only to be bummed that it was just a bomb charge that did it. So many missed opportunities for nemesis.

As a stand-alone game, 3make was fun. Especially once you beat it and got to use the unlockables. Both remakes for 2 and 3 make for fun mindless quick playthroughs with unlimited ammo just to blast the shit out of everything. Comparing 3 to its remake, though, it really is lacking in so many places. Plenty of inexcusable things that are missing. I definitely don't regret buying it, but as a massive fan of the RE series, I was so let down by the game overall. It's one of my favorites to play, but probably one of my least favorites in the entire series. I dunno, it's hard to explain.

It would have been perfect as a DLC. Open up some of those other streets to create a good loop through the city, then have them get blocked off once you get to certain areas as the in-universe time starts to overlap for RE2 and RE3, and have it split off into its own unique areas. I'd have been more satisfied with it. Re-skin Mr. X as nemesis, give him more aggressive behavior and quicker movement, and a couple different attacks and shit...DLC done right.

it makes me want a Dead Rising in the RE engine.
Fuck, give me the Outbreak files 1 & 2 in RE engine. Running from those goddamn mega bites in Underbelly? Better bring my brown pants.

I wasn’t a big fan of his new look.
His heart is black and latex, like Bella Janke's.

I know the line was played for laughs but, “Bitch can’t even swim”? Seriously?
Yuk yuk.

The subway caved in, so Nemmy had to mutate into a sea monster; OK, that part makes sense. But how did he grow fins and double in size in seconds? What kinda Pokémon bullshit is this?
