I will say it, Claire and Chris look fine mostly but whoever casted the actors for Jill and Leon should be fired.

Outbreak is where the 'classic' series ended for me.

RE4 occupies a bit of an odd space. It's one of my favorites and the idea of a more serious take on it could be really good, they could even keep some of the more action-y pieces if they play their cards right, but then I think about all the fun and dumb stuff that'd get taken out and it just wouldn't be the same.
Of course Outbreak is technically when the classic series ended, but they are spinoffs and I was talking about the mainline entries.

Also, release wise Zero is the last game, but continuity wise Code Veronica is actually the ending and Chris flying off into the wild blue yonder, ready to take down Umbrella for good, is not a bad note to end things on either.

Resident Evil ended after 3.
Why do you feel that way?

The Anderson movies are still not great despite the casting sometimes being better.

RE Woke since 2015 started from RE Rev2,RE2Remake,RE3Remake,RE7,RE8 ,RE Vendetta,RE Infinite Darkness Written by Westerners.

Rev 2 was written by Dai Sato.

Johannes Roberts. Their hot take:

Dude, you're making this movie BECAUSE people connected with these characters, what the fuck are you talking about?

I've always considered Outbreak to be part of the mainline. At least to me.

Release-wise I'm pretty sure Outbreak was released after Zero.

Pseudo edit: RE0 was released 2002 with RE Outbreak released 2004 in North America.

I consider them to be canon, but I do consider them to be spinoffs and not technically part of the "mainline" series.

Guy didn't even bother to shave and cut his hair. Doesn't the police have a dress code or something?
Live-action Leon always looks like cosplay. A bad cosplay.

Sienna Guillory
When Jill said "Who TF are you" to Alice, I felt that. (:_(

Most police departments have regulations for hair and facial hair grooming. I mean have you ever seen an IRL cop with long hair?
That was a plot point in the film Serpico. Frank grew out his hair and beard to blend in with the counter-culture. He was almost shot by fellow officers.

They're not really good but they're entertaining.

Borderline experimental in places.
Yes, they are fun. And even final chapter has some fleeting moments of inspiration, It just clearly had a rough time in development hell.

I need to see it in motion before I can properly judge, but it looks even lower budget then RE afterlife.

It could work, I really do think it could. But it needs to be focused on having a fun popcorn time.

Honestly more excited for black Weskers family netflix adventure. It's probably stupid stranger things shit focused on his kids, but I am legit curious to see Lance Reddicks interpretation of the character. ill even throw it a bone if one of em is named Jake Wesker.

I see Lisa Trevor has been made with castoffs from a Spirit Halloween store.

@Dom Cruise Forum's not letting me quote you so;

RE 3 is where the story logically ended. Everything past that is just more and more bizarre and crazy and while RE isn't the most "grounded" of series, 1-3 were. CV, let's not talk about. I don't even consider 4 a RE game, it's not survival horror at all; it's an action shooter. All the other games past that had bonkers fucking stories and IMO they just don't jive with the first three games. Maybe it also has something to do with having played each of them as they came out... The first RE game was amazing, especially as a kid. 2 was even better. 3 wasn't that great but you can't say it didn't cap off the trilogy. Ever since that it's just been more and more ridiculous.

The S.D. Perry Resident Evil novels made more coherent sense for future RE stories and games than what actually came out.

It's not really where it ended though, since Umbrella still existed, so a final confrontation with Umbrella was clearly what was left, although that never properly happened, but the original idea Capcom had was for that to happen with RE4 and then boom, series over.

I think Capcom had the idea in general around that time of doing a handful of games in a series and then moving on to something new, much like how Onimusha concluded, rather than a series just going and going.

And maybe that's what they should have done with Resident Evil, 4 could have been a proper conclusion and then Dead Rising could take up the new mantle of "zombie series" and Haunting Ground could have been the new pure horror series, but obviously that's not what happened, I really wonder how much the death of Noboru Sugimura changed the direction of the company.

At any rate Zero takes place before 3, so there's no reason you shouldn't include it, right? There's something almost poetic about the story ending where it started.

I keep forgetting about 0 because I never actually played that one. I haven't played the Mommy Vampire one either, if we're being honest. The coomer hype bullshit kind of ruined any interest I had in it.

You should play 0, it has some flaws but is still incredibly underrated.

Mommy Vampire is barely in 8, you shouldn't let that dissuade you, especially since 8 has the best, scariest moment in the series since the classic games.

You know, it would be pretty cool if we got resident evil outbreak remasters or at least ports on steam with online features. The games look pretty well made and seem more fun than the chronicles games.
I've been clamoring for a remaster of the outbreak files. The only change I'd make is with the communications aspect. I'd like if there were voice chat BUT it's limited to being in the same room as someone else.

Can anyone tell me what, if any, differences there are between Code Veronica on PS2, Dreamcast and GameCube?
Avalanche Reviews does some good dives into the series (and others), including differences between ports. I haven't watched the CV one in a while, so I can't recall much other than some graphical stuff.

Random question, for you what's the most disturbing creature in the games?
For me it's the Chimera, both for ther appearance and lore.
Chimera for the look, regenerators for being fucking creepy, Lisa Trevor for the story behind how she was stuck with every viral agent they could come up with.

On a slightly different note, since some other sort of survival horror games have been brought up... Did anyone else ever play the ObsCure games on Ps2? I thought the first one was great, and the coop was interesting. Second one was alright, but not nearly as good. I guess the first one was remastered on steam at some point, but I'm mostly a console pleb.

It was pretty tiresome how everyone sperged out about Mommy Vampire, with almost every single last egirl cosplaying as her.

What would these people have made of Daniella from Haunting Ground back in the day?

Don't let the internet's cringey soyjaks ruin it for you. It's an excellent game and House Beneviento is one of my favorite locations in any game in over a decade.
