RE1 and 2 perhaps, but 3,4, and 6? RE3 gives you custom handgun ammo and the STI Eagle 6.0, RE4 the Matilda (granted that's a post-game unlockable) and the demigod-like Red 9, and RE6 gives you perks that allow that buff the handgun as well as infinite ammo.

The only reason I didn't mention RE5 is that it's been a while since I've played it so I can't accurately say if it's possible for a primarily handgun or only handgun run.

Not sure about REmake2 and REmake3 though, but if people can do knife only runs then I guess it's entirely possible.

Yeah, but the knife runs in re2 are centered around the damage of the knife being tied to the framerate. Hell, even on ps4, the knife can take out some bosses faster than with conventional weapons. I almost always at least take out the first Birkin with a knife just because, unless I'm fucking around with the minigun or whatever.

The fucking dogs. I'm stuck in CV because of them. I've just done the first Bandersnatch encounter and while I got enough munitions for a shooting spree, I have no healing items and got my health on red. I know what I have to do, but the only way out is through the little courtyard with two dogs and no matter what I do, one of them nabs me.

Seriously, Outbreak was really their only successful multi-player RE title and instead of just giving fans what they want, they gotta try and mimic what all the popular kids are playing.

I kinda wonder if capcom realizes what the definition of insanity is.
 
they should just made a redux of Mercenaries, like all the characters from RE universe with all the sceneries and enemies from all of RE

Update for Code Veronica - I've made it past the dogs, got out of the Island and reached the Antarctic base... but I've left all the acid rounds on the island. Am I screwed?

For all the ways that CV can screw you, breaking that stupid plastic ball is what usually what gets me to put it down.

I know that doesn't help so... Yeah you probably are screwed.

I really hope not... I've read that you can get 3 out of 4 acid rounds bundles with Chris, so probably I'm fine on that, but it's still sucky how easy it is to screw yourself over in this game, and I don't mean resource management, I mean literally locking yourself out of progressing. I've found a couple of ways online which you can screw yourself over... misplace the Navy Proof, and you are locked out of the plane. Don't leave heavy weapons with Chris, and Alexia will wipe the floor with you. And another way where not getting a certain item the first time you come across it makes it unobtainable, and it's a key of some sorts.

Nah, you are mostly screwed if you leave a lot of things in the metal detector container. the game has many weapons and ammo that you can kill everything even if you dont get the AK, spas, uzi.
