Right, exactly. How a normal baby turns into a person, how much of what we know is built in vs. being taught is more-or-less a complete mystery. And we'll never be able to prove it, because the obvious experiment -- let's make a 19-month old child blind and deaf and see if it turns into a vegetable -- is unspeakable. I've even heard it called "The Forbidden Experiment." All we can do is do is look at individual tragedies we barely understand and guess at how they apply to all humans.

Hey, those Insidious/Conjuring movies are just "hang your brain on a hook at the door before you walk in" type of movies. Just entertaining horror flicks that you don't need to invest much thought into, and can still be entertaining, without the usual Hollywood Woke indoctrination drivel that most everyone else put out nowadays. You know, this is anecdotal, but it finally resolves something I've been meaning to look up for literally decades. When I was a very little kid, I remember my grade-school librarian talking about going to see Hellen Keller talk with her parents when she was a little girl. I remember her saying that from what she could remember, when HK spoke, she stood really still, and talked really quiet, but in a high-pitched voice. Seeing this video, it definitely tracks. It's odd that a memory from [REDACTED] years ago has always stuck with me, and I've never thought about looking it up, but seeing it now has satisfied some odd curiosity I've had. I'm sure ZE Germans have a specific word for it.

I think its probably a bit of both. There's  SOMETHING in early development that is ccrucial with bonding and language development , and it's important to establish those before that window closes, or else it leads to unpredictable mental issues. What that window is, or the circumstances behind it is anyones guess.
