Retro games and emulation - Discuss retro shit in case you're stuck in the past or a hipster

From personal experience a lot of that is ban baiting.
oh yeah sure but a lot of it is also retards, children or guys who don't know dick about computers or gaming beyond their peak era wandering in to ask how to play it again. the retards are squarely coming from places, that I personally blame for Nintendo becoming what it has to day shutting down a lot of projects, and hardware mods, and stuff which is Gamer Youtube grifters who just openly make videos on emulating current hardware or flash carts for current systems in the wide open exposing idiots to the scene. Nintendo wouldn't be doing this if people only talked about n64 emulation and snes everdrives but idiots have ruined everything chasing the algorithm. sure, Nintendo is a Jap company who have notoriously strict IP laws, but if starting in the Wii U/3DS era idiots who aren't 10 subscriber channels that posted softmod tutorials didn't start just explaining piracy in every step, and hadn't moved on to talking about how anyone with a home pc from the last 10 years couldn't emulate the switch better than the switch itself runs, we wouldn't be in today's predicament. everyone likes to go fuck Nintendo! they are evil! and yeah fuck em, they shut down a lot of good shit, from projects to websites, but they didn't just randomly decide to do all of that.

Turns out I needed more bioses or different iso types or whatever, but phone ps2 is great success!
MGS3 demo ran very grindy but so far a bunch of 3d has worked fine. Game pad is being fussy but making progress

Mutahar posted a video about this subject, but the real kicker is the comment section. No one bothered to watch the video or do any research. Everyone just thinks this is another Nintendo DMCA and the retards are just spewing piracy encouragement. YouTube iliteracy is real.
hell, I don't wanna watch Mutahar either

This has been going on a lot longer than the past 5-10 years when zoomers and normies got hold of emulation, and part of that is being driven to it as physical retro games got to the point where a "loose cart" Pokémon Yellow cartridge is now over $50...but most forums have always, ALWAYS been weird about "piracy" even when it's the main way to use it.

I think it was initially fearing Nintendo et. al. but there's definitely mod power-tripping, and has been that way for a LONG time (20+ years).

PlayStation 4 emulation has been on fire lately with the emergence of a new emulator ShadPS4 which is capable of getting in game with 3d rendering. This has been a milestone that other PS4 emulators have been unable to achieve up until now. ShadPS4 can get in game and render 3D with games such as Red Dead Redemption, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered and more! And then there is Bloodborne - a game I never imagined would even boot and display the main menu, but it does, and this is a very exciting time for PS4 emulation in general. And we will be covering it all in today's episode. Please enjoy.

I have discovered that you can use steam link with non steam games. This is very handy for running emulators like cemu or xemu on something like a raspberry pi. you can also run regular retroarch through it so you dont have to use the inferior steam version.

Yeah if you want to have it be entirely hassle free with emulators and emulated games, look into the Steam ROM Manager. You just have to point it towards your emulators and ROMs and itll add them all to steam with different categories per each console and with art sourced from somewhere per each game.

Apologies for the double poost, but I was in the neighborhood of finally buying a PS2 now that my collection of LEGALLY AQUIRED PS2 ISOs is reaching 200gb. I know FreeMcBoot exists for softmodding your console and the memory cards are extremely cheap and easy to come buy, but what would I need to use a HDD for internal storage instead of having to buy/burn a fuckton of discs. Also if anybody has any suggestion for video cables for a monitor/TV screen? I don't have the extra money or space for a CRT as of right now.

I also have no idea why they feel compelled to exclusively host game updates on the official discord server for some emulators, instead of uploading them to an archive.

Does anyone know what the icon on the bottom left is? I bought this memory card of eBay and am curios about it and its weird name.

Speaking of which, one super spergy thing I'd love to see but apparently nobody's ever done it is to compile all the little memory card icons and make gifs of them, and then just display them all in a giant collage.

This video goes over everything you'll need and is pretty easy to follow.
