Beetle is great, it just has issues with compatibility from time to time. There’s a number of games that just lock the fuck up during pivotal/trivial moments and there’s a handful of audio glitches that make little sense.

That’s not to say that can’t be the case with Duckstation, it has its own share of issues but they’re usually linked to improper settings and that’s an easy fix. It’s just all-around a better emulator, it emulates more accurately and it’s host of settings allow for improved visuals and improved audio that Beetle can’t do. It’s worth a shot.
Yeah I've tried it since making that post and I have to say, I was impressed with its performance on weaker hardware

A static recompilation project for Sonic Unleashed for the Xbox 360 released today, allowing for the game to be easily played on PCs.
In addition, the person behind this project also released the tools he used for it, allowing for potential static recompilations and ports of other Xbox 360 games.
IIRC someone in the past lied about doing this so I was skeptical at first, someone can add additional context if they remember the person that did it.

That's not just a toaster oven, it's the 1989 Black & Decker Space maker Toast-R-oven

Put some respect on it.
Besides the SX64 my other idea was to make it look like an old portable TV. With an LCD display and a couple silver knobs below it to control the Raspberry Pi that would control the MiSTer. Then I got lazy and switched to the ITX case, now back to the larger case, but likely this:

I tossed around the idea of making the switches(larger round holes) old style toggles, Altair 8800 style, but decided on simple black pushbuttons instead on a black panel with LEDs that light up black.

You mean this guy? IIRC he was some script kiddie retard who claimed he was doing a full decompilation but all he ever came up with was a wrapped version of Xenia that contained the game and some existing patches.

Yes thank you I forgot the video haven't used youtube in a long while.

Wasn't sure if this belonged here but this dude is amazing. He goes super in-depth on Saturn games and scores plenty of interviews but his videos don't really get a lot of views despite being better than pretty much anything put out by the retro community. He went retarded recently (got into racing games), so be patient please:

This one's pretty cool because it goes into detail on a Sega internal document that shows the company was basically dead the moment they released the 32X and nothing really could have saved them:

I think I discussed in another thread that the 32X really had no place in the market (it wasn't going to save the Genesis and it was obsolete by the Saturn era, if it was any better it would've cannibalized the Saturn's sales). People blame the disconnect between the American and Japanese sides of the company but fundamentally Sonic and the games that followed was lightning in a bottle. They had no way of competing against Play It Loud-era SNES and they had no way of competing against PlayStation. They were basically forced into the position where the Dreamcast would have to be a huge hit or the company would go bankrupt.

It's crazy that the founder of Sega (a Jewish WWII veteran) is still alive.

Sega came up in the arcades. They never felt at all comfortable in the home market. And when Nintendo came back swinging—because everyone knew they would—Sega had no plan, no faith in their own hardware.

I’m basically just looking for anything that’s like Final Fantasy for the NES/SNES but isn’t filled with gay anime shit like “The power of friendship and love will triumph over evil.” Rom hacks work too.

No nigga. Black Magic and my Masamune will. Let me grind and get cool shit and beat things.
Dragon Warrior for NES.

You should try out this sci-fi rpg that got a fan translation a year or two ago. It’s called Hoshi wo Miru Hito.

For those who don't know, Hoshi wo Miru Hito is known as The Legendary Shitty Game (伝説のクソゲー for all of our dirty weebs) in Japan.

Also is your PFP from Ancient Roman? I heard that was another infamously shitty Japanese-only game for the longest time.

Kusoge is love. Kusoge is life. I’m actually in the process of convincing/tricking my friends into watching a Dingo Pictures movie atm, if you want to know where my movie tastes lie.

For anyone who hasn’t been following, after the RomHacking.net “shutdown”… it never really shut down. Blog posts for new hacks were still being made, you just couldn’t do direct uploads anymore.

That being said, the official successor is now up: RomHack.ing, complete with a rebranding of their Discord. It’s still a bit rough around the edges on a technical level, but (I think) all the hack pages and blog posts have been copied over, and the search results page looks nicer with more details.

That's good news. But we're in a new era. It's time to allow racist hacks.

Just wondering has anyone here gone through a Lightgun Emulation set up. I think it'd be so cool to get cheap PC (I think a Handheld PC can do the job) a Sinden, and a 40-50 inch screen just to play Time Crisis and House of the Dead.

But I also wonder does the novelty wear off?
I will try to remember this post when I finally inevitably do this. I don't regret my Tempest spinner and giant Centipede trackball. Actually, you probably shouldn't take advice from me.

Has anybody picked up the new Suikoden 1 and 2 Remasters? I'm kind of interested in them but the backgrounds look awful. Like some shit out of RPGMaker. They really should've just tried to keep and upscale the old school backgrounds. It's a shame because I like the new portraits they have going on here and they also have the changes/enhancements from the never translated PSP version.

Apparently Suikoden 2 was done a lot better so here's the comparison video for that too.

I’m currently playing through Parasite Eve 2. I enjoyed the first disc of the game. However after getting to the bunker, the game has become a slog. For someone who absolutely loves the first Parasite Eve, is it worth sticking it out for the rest of the game? I’m at the part with a bunch of Divers in the water.
