Retro games and emulation - Discuss retro shit in case you're stuck in the past or a hipster

Is something like an old Dell Optiplex still a decent option or are they too low end these days?
All I can say there is it depends on what you’re trying to do, and look up videos that show performance. Though I would recommend installing Batocera instead of whatever Windows is probably on there for better performance and more of a console experience.

He's not providing examples, so I'm half-expecting him to talk out of his ass. Ever since Stenzek (Duckstation lead dev) also joined the PCSX2 team, the emulator got really good. It runs basically flawlessly (at least in 1x and 2x internal resolutions) most of the games I tried. Just a minor hiccup on a place in R-Type Final where even some models of PS2 would experience some slight slowdown.
If that's the case that's good, I am running off of old experiences. Gotta remember that PCSX2 used to be fiddly-as-hell on a per-game basis.

It was certainly fun wondering if the door opening into the void in King's Field IV was a bug or some kind of weird trap the first time it ever happened.

Every once in a while, some autist posts on /v/ about how PCSX2 is the "worst emulator ever". At first I thought it was real but then I figured that it's some deeply disturbed individual who probably has an issue against it on personal levels.

wandering the mall today while the wife got her nails done, checked local indy game store
actually pretty nice, had famicom carts at appropriate prices, like five bucks for Load Runner

How nice Every retro store I go to has them has these games for like $20+ bucks, basically the same prices they were when they were initially released.
yeah I was really impressed, actually a nice selection in general, even really old stuff like 2600 and coleco

One last note about PCSX2 - Don't use the stable version.
Exactly. Even the main website, pcsx2.net, says to not use the stable.

I've been enjoying Zelda Ancient Dungeon, a romhack that keeps the core Zelda 1 engine but make it a random dungeon generator
is there anything similar, hack or a straight game, that's a "walk to the next floor/room, kill stuff, repeat" that doesn't have any real mazes, like, NES, SNES, GBA, PS1, or PSP?
more actiony than turn based, I already got a Mysterious Dungeon going on my phone for turn based

PCSX2 is great. Citra’s the worst. It ran like ass while it was still available.

What were some sexy/fanservice games for the GameCube? Did it have any? I remember the Xbox had DOA Beach Volleyball, plus DOA games in general. While Sony had a bunch of bad Tomb Raider games and the Outlaw sports series.

I played Resident Evil 2 on GameCube recently (is a weird port) and when I searched for horror games, along with the usual suggestions like Resident Evil Remake and Eternal Darkness, there were games like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Bloodrayne. I had no idea they were on GameCube.
