Anbernic Handheld's emulator consoles are decent too If you can find them at a good price from a proper vendor on Aliexpress.

This is going to depend heavily on where you are in the country. The reddit collectorfag crowd has basically cleared out every CRT in my region and now boomers and thrift stores are all aware of how valuable their CRTs are and demand high prices for them. This is what the CRT market looks like in bumfuck America right now:
"Gaming CRT TV", that's fucked up. I hate price scalping lately.

I own 3 CRTs that I got for less than $50 in total over the years. I want this bubble to burst soon.

I admire your convictions. But I like the Genesis games. But that's it.
Hell yeah, gotta go fast.

Any of you cool cats have this contraption?

You put it in the genesis then the top of the cartridge flips back and you put another Sonic cartridge on there? Or you could put the game genie in, then put Sonic & Knuckles on top of that, then put another Sonic cartridge on top of that, like a little neurodivergent layer cake?

When I was younger I never even knew what it did, I just thought it was neat building cartridge towers. I'm still not sure what it does.

Anyways retro gaming is for trannies and autists with hentai addictions (so basically soon to be trannies). Nobody should talk about it.

I do, still have it somewhere on a box. But I think the dust cover got broken.

That cartridge is DLC before dlc: basically at some point in development, Sonic 3 was getting close to the deadline, so they split the game to get it ready on time for Christmas season. Then they later released Sonic & Knuckles as a standalone game that was the cut content that didn't made it on time, and if you inserted Sonic 3 into it, it became Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the whole game as it was intended.

You could also insert Sonic 2 into it and it becomes Sonic 2 Featuring Knuckles The Echidna, allowing you to play Sonic 2 but with Knuckles instead. It was kinda neat at the time. Only Sonic 2 and 3 were compatible with it as far as I am aware.

And that's where the meme "& Knuckles" is from.

I've got a laptop with an emulator for every system I once owned. Atari 2600 and 7800, NES, SNES, Genesis and Neo Geo...and MAME for classic arcade games.

Once a month or 2, I'll binge on vintage games... It's a nice trip down memory lane, and alot of these games are still fun to play.

Favorites:
2600/7800: the Realsports games, and most of the Activision library... and Midnight Magic, that game still is pretty great even though it's just video pinball.
NES: Double Dragon 2 and Mike Tyson's Punchout
SNES; The Street Fighter games
Genesis: Most of the EA Sports library and Streets of Rage 2
Neo Geo: Too many to name, but I do keep returning often to Garou: Mark Of The Wolves and Baseball Stars 2
Arcade: OG Punch Out! and SF2 Champion Edition

Been playing through Tactics Ogre reborn, a good remaster. The old world fantasy (of the grounded, non-candy-coated variety) is so above par it motivated me to check out the SNES version to compare. I'm amazed at how much the original had to offer in 1995. The god-system, positioning, detailed battle maps, the warren report news, the music, the majority of soldiers not all being 16 year old twinks... It's all there and quite refreshing.

Bout ta buy Tekken 2 today and have the time of my life.
Wanted 3 but couldn't see it.
Playing mgs1, was gonna say having a hard time with vulcan raven the second time you meet him, but honestly it's more that I am holding back trying properly due to being a little sad as I've nearly finished it; but it means I get to play the second one and onwards.
Dropped off from gaming in like 2001 so have a bunch of good shit to enjoy.

Playing Klonoa for some light relief, and after that I'll get Tomba.
I wish you could buy the actual. Old, non souped up Crash bandicoot though. Shit runs so fast now as to make certain things double as hard, and the second one is occasionally weirdly laggy in ways that have you dying.

(apparently I'm doing things the worst way buying shit on the PlayStation network without having a sign up but fuck that honetsl6, 8 quid here and there is not too bad and I hate subscriptions for anything)

Anyway I love the ps1 and to a lesser extent ps2. Might see if I can lay hands on my old Sega megadrive again, as weirdly the games I see at car boot sales and stuff are still a cheap price, compared to all the other consoles.

OH yeah, I got some new-to-me ps2 game called Kenetica, basically cos it looked ridiculously japense millennial-turn vision futuristic. It's hard as fuck to start with but looks like it's gonna be really satisfying once you get hang of it.

@Phase Of the Moon
Hadn't seen those emulators before. I want to buy my stepdad one. It's a fucker when there's so many options though.. Low key don't trust the cheaper ones but they are probably all the same or a total crap shoot on which happens to be better, at least.

If you put Sonic 1 in you got infinite Sonic and Knuckle's 3d bonus stages. Putting any other game in generated a single bonus stage.

Just got a PS Vita as a gift, really excited to hack it. Does anyone have any Vita/PSP game recommendations? I’m not very familiar with the library.

When you get adrenaline installed make sure to turn the scanlines on and adjust the screen color mode, you can make it look like you're on a PSP 2000 or 3000 with ease using them.

A few I'd recommend I don't see on the above list (I might have missed them) are Super Robot Wars 25, and Earth Defense Force Portable. I also don't see Uppers on that list. Not played it myself (my copy is still sealed) but I've heard nothing but good things

Also, be careful with the hack. Read through the process before starting as it's supposedly easy to brick.

The PSP port of Tales of Eternia is really good if you're an EOP and can't play the Japanese version for some reason.
