I know people who are more in the know with the RA backend and the heresay is saying this was Scott's call. The initial stance of archival was the RAdmin team and Scott went above them after seeing the backlash on bluesky and on the forum. A lot of people are upset behind the scenes, but this is Scott's website so ultimately they don't have the final word.
If they made a more coordinated effort to quit all at once and in effect sabotage the wii rollout they could probably raise enough shit to get Clover back, but this is a project people have sunk hundreds of hours into so they're hesitant to quit. Plus doing that kind of risks a SomethingAwful type of situation where all the right-leaning posters quit after making a bet that the republicans would win the election which left SA with only their deep-left userbase. I wouldn't want to see RA die given I've spent a lot of time playing on it myself but this precedent of laying down after such little backlash means this will happen again.
It's just sad. Here, take this from the discord during the slow mode to laugh at.

I do wonder how much 'upset' we're talking about here. People I'd normally expect to pretty gossipy about this are keeping their mouths firmly shut to anyone not staff and there have been murmurs on other servers about maybe dropping Patron numbers. The team is oddly used to slamming their foot down on subjects, but also eating a mountain of shit on others.

My bet is on 'nothing ever happens' world continuing it's trend of nothing every happening.
 
How much of a hand did our pal Xkeeper (KF thread) from The Cutting Room Floor have in influencing this decision?
RA owner Scott’s Bluesky account only had 5 posts on it before today, and now half of the posts on his account are replies to Xkeeper’s sperg thread (bsky/archive) about Pokemon Clover being on RA, in which Xkeeper goes on about how he would handle it.

Achievements are bad, they're compulsive to those dumb enough to get them but also more insidiously, they're a way to replace all the actual rewards of old games.

You liked unlockable weapons and costumes? Sorry can't have those, they're paid content, what if we give you a little *DING* gold star instead.

This site is at most a novelty. Kind of neat, but why is it so important? I love the idea that chan culture is literal third reich propaganda to trannys, would love to see the sharty do something similar and see how they react then. Thought clover was bad? Pokemon cobson's coming for you next, Xkeeper.
